Morphy Richards, no good at making hoovers..
Review of Morphy Richards 73310 by
tokenboy
Advantages: None.
Disadvantages: Loud.
...Morphy Richards Ultralight Cyclone 1500 W Vacuum Cleaner.
This has to be by far the worst vacuum cleaner that I have had the misfortune to use in my entire life. The name suggests that it is lightweight, but this is far from so. It weighs 7.5 kg, compared to 5.3 kg for the Electrolux Cyclone Power Lite that I normally use.
It is an upright hoover, which measures 42” high, 12.5” wide and 19” deep (front to back). It has a front loading dust cylinder in the same style as most modern vacuums. It has a bush button release mechanism to release the handle (from the upright position) but this can be a sod to get to operate properly, and it often results in the handle falling down and clumping me, normally on the back of the head.
The cleaning accessories or tools, that are provided are adequate but by no means...

Morphy Richards Pod Vacuum
Review of Morphy Richards 73090 POD by
disneyeyes
Advantages: Inexpensive, small, leightweight
Disadvantages: Somewhat lacking in power
...I have to admit being somewhat surprised by the all the favourable reviews of this product I've read on this site because, for me, the Pod vacuum has been a real disappointment.
Moving into a new flat recently with a deep-pile dark blue carpet that looked as if it hadn't been vacuumed since James Dyson was in nappies, and no vacuum cleaner to my name, my first priority was a trip to Argos in search of a cheap but effective remedy. Armed with a fifty quid budget - I didn't dare ask my landlady for anything more expensive so early in our relationship - I too was seduced by the Pod's quirky good looks. Top marks to Morphy Richards for producing something a little different, I thought.
Ok, so it's an attractive little number, it weighs hardly anything, it's bagless and comes with some handy attachments...but ladies and gentlemen, it just...

Top suction for a cheap vacuum.
Review of Morphy Richards 73310 by
penguin17
Advantages: Great suction power, looks good.
Disadvantages: No cord rewind
...I bought this vacuum as a cheap alternative to a dyson, it was bought at tescos online for a little over £61. The design of the vacuum looks great and the feel of it when used gives the impression of a powerful vac. It is of course a bagless upright with a washable filter which is easy to clean with just warm water, and they provide a spare filter for use while you wash the other one. It has a powerful 1500w motor which gives great suction, it also has 4 floor type settings from hard to deep carpet making it great for all the house, The extendable stair cleaning pipe could have been longer as it only reaches halfway up, they also provide 3 onboard tools to help clean hard to reach areas. This is a great vacuum and it comes with a 2 year parts & labour guarantee. I have marked down the noise as loud but I had a cylinder vac before...

Morphy Richards Orb- It sucks!
Review of Morphy Richards 73173 ORB by
piggypine
Advantages: Manouverable
Disadvantages: When I said it sucks I didnt mean in a good way!
...Every home needs a vacuum cleaner especially mine, with 2 young children running about it's inevitable that there will be mess, crumbs, trampled in play doh...................... my old vacuum blew up(as most of my appliances have a habit of doing) my mum is a bit of a vacuum addict and saw this as the perfect excuse to get rid of her old one and buy a new one for herself, so I gratefully recieved the Morphy Richards Orb. My mum sang it's praises and being a vacuum aimed at pet owners I had high hopes, ok no I dont have pets but if it can get up pets hairs it should be able to clean up the crumbs.
Morphy Richards
The company was formed by Donal Morphy and Charles Richards. They had worked together at an electric fire company, Donal was an engineer and Charles a salesman. But on July 8th 1936, they registered as a private company...

Easy Dough!!
Review of Cookworks XBM1038 by
warmstrong
Advantages: Fresh Bread whenever you want
Disadvantages: None
...We had, until two days ago, a Morphy Richards 4825 breadmaker. It had given stirling results over the past 3 years or so making a least two loaves a week until the heating element went. Looking for a replacement I searched all the usual shops - both online and locally and eventually found the Cookworks XBM1038 in Argos at £23.99. This machine bears an uncanny resemblance to the Morphy Richards 4825 and based on this we went and bought one. On opening the box we found that indeed, with a few exceptions the unit appeared to be a re-badged Morphy Richards. It has a couple of extra functions (called Ultra Fast) over the Morphy Richards 4825 and slight cosmetic changes. It works as good as my old unit and produces just as good bread and the Ultra Fast - if you follow the instructions - gives reasonably good results. Unlike the Morphy...

It Sucks ...but it doesn't
Review of Morphy Richards 73090 POD by
jackie-b
Advantages: Easy to use, lightweight, cheap
Disadvantages: None
...Trying to look after two homes isn’t easy and when I first moved down to Cheltenham, there were certain things I had to leave at my house up north before I decided what I was doing with the property. The first thing I knew I’d have to leave was the vacuum cleaner as I was sure the place would need a good vacuum once we started to move more furniture out of there. The place in Cheltenham has laminated floors throughout so at first I decided just a sweeping brush would suffice but then on a trip to Argos I spotted the coolest vac I’d ever seen and at £39.99 I bought it on the spot.
The Morphy Richards POD is a bagless compact cleaner and it’s the coolest, cutest vacuum cleaner I’ve ever seen. The body of the vacuum cleaner is lime green and purple, two wacky colours I particularly like. It’s about one and a half foot long with two big...

Bonzer bagless
Review of Morphy Richards 73090 POD by
afy9mab
Advantages: Small, light, easy to use, bagless
Disadvantages: Cord retracts at tremendous speed.
...The Morphy Richards Pod was an absolute godsend when our old upright finally gave up the ghost. It was less than forty pounds in an Argos sale and is probably the smallest and lightest bagless vac available.
It's a cylinder cleaner which comes in a fetching green and purple combo with a flexible hose and a number of handy attachments to get to those hard to reach places. The attachment with bristles is great for cleaning skirting boards and getting rid of cobwebs. And it has a handy retractable cable which you might need to watch out for if you have your fingers anywhere near the cord.
For such a small machine, it has a tremendous suck which happily deals with everything from bits of stray wool and cat hair and crisp crumbs and fish tank gravel. It does struggle with loose change, though. And because it's bagless, you don't have...

Here Dust Here!!
Review of Morphy Richards 73312 by
HotBabes
Advantages: Built in tools, variable power, bagless
Disadvantages: filters hard to clean
...I have had my Morphy Richards upright for about a year now changing from a Rowenta cylinder. I opted for this upright as it had all the features I needed at a good price, was powerful and boasted 'right to the edge cleaning'. It was also bagless so no more expense on bags!
Overall, it's look is pleasing to the eye (not that vacuum cleaners are that enjoyable to look at!). Mine is silver and purple in colour. It is fairly lightweight and I can carry it up and down the stairs without my arm dropping off or making more dents in the paintwork. It has a carry handle on the back. The clever bods at Morphy Richards have situated this half way down so it really does distribute the weight evenly.
It has the following features:
Floor nozzle height adjustment.
Basically you choose the setting which matches your floor surface - deep pile...
