Morphy Richards Orb- It sucks!
Review of Morphy Richards 73173 ORB by
piggypine
Advantages: Manouverable
Disadvantages: When I said it sucks I didnt mean in a good way!
...Every home needs a vacuum cleaner especially mine, with 2 young children running about it's inevitable that there will be mess, crumbs, trampled in play doh...................... my old vacuum blew up(as most of my appliances have a habit of doing) my mum is a bit of a vacuum addict and saw this as the perfect excuse to get rid of her old one and buy a new one for herself, so I gratefully recieved the Morphy Richards Orb. My mum sang it's praises and being a vacuum aimed at pet owners I had high hopes, ok no I dont have pets but if it can get up pets hairs it should be able to clean up the crumbs.
Morphy Richards
The company was formed by Donal Morphy and Charles Richards. They had worked together at an electric fire company, Donal was an engineer and Charles a salesman. But on July 8th 1936, they registered as a private company...

Morphy Richards, no good at making hoovers..
Review of Morphy Richards 73310 by
tokenboy
Advantages: None.
Disadvantages: Loud.
...Morphy Richards Ultralight Cyclone 1500 W Vacuum Cleaner.
This has to be by far the worst vacuum cleaner that I have had the misfortune to use in my entire life. The name suggests that it is lightweight, but this is far from so. It weighs 7.5 kg, compared to 5.3 kg for the Electrolux Cyclone Power Lite that I normally use.
It is an upright hoover, which measures 42” high, 12.5” wide and 19” deep (front to back). It has a front loading dust cylinder in the same style as most modern vacuums. It has a bush button release mechanism to release the handle (from the upright position) but this can be a sod to get to operate properly, and it often results in the handle falling down and clumping me, normally on the back of the head.
The cleaning accessories or tools, that are provided are adequate but by no means...

Top suction for a cheap vacuum.
Review of Morphy Richards 73310 by
penguin17
Advantages: Great suction power, looks good.
Disadvantages: No cord rewind
...I bought this vacuum as a cheap alternative to a dyson, it was bought at tescos online for a little over £61. The design of the vacuum looks great and the feel of it when used gives the impression of a powerful vac. It is of course a bagless upright with a washable filter which is easy to clean with just warm water, and they provide a spare filter for use while you wash the other one. It has a powerful 1500w motor which gives great suction, it also has 4 floor type settings from hard to deep carpet making it great for all the house, The extendable stair cleaning pipe could have been longer as it only reaches halfway up, they also provide 3 onboard tools to help clean hard to reach areas. This is a great vacuum and it comes with a 2 year parts & labour guarantee. I have marked down the noise as loud but I had a cylinder vac before...

Morphy Richards Pod Vacuum
Review of Morphy Richards 73090 POD by
disneyeyes
Advantages: Inexpensive, small, leightweight
Disadvantages: Somewhat lacking in power
...I have to admit being somewhat surprised by the all the favourable reviews of this product I've read on this site because, for me, the Pod vacuum has been a real disappointment.
Moving into a new flat recently with a deep-pile dark blue carpet that looked as if it hadn't been vacuumed since James Dyson was in nappies, and no vacuum cleaner to my name, my first priority was a trip to Argos in search of a cheap but effective remedy. Armed with a fifty quid budget - I didn't dare ask my landlady for anything more expensive so early in our relationship - I too was seduced by the Pod's quirky good looks. Top marks to Morphy Richards for producing something a little different, I thought.
Ok, so it's an attractive little number, it weighs hardly anything, it's bagless and comes with some handy attachments...but ladies and gentlemen, it just...

It Sucks ...but it doesn't
Review of Morphy Richards 73090 POD by
jackie-b
Advantages: Easy to use, lightweight, cheap
Disadvantages: None
...Trying to look after two homes isn’t easy and when I first moved down to Cheltenham, there were certain things I had to leave at my house up north before I decided what I was doing with the property. The first thing I knew I’d have to leave was the vacuum cleaner as I was sure the place would need a good vacuum once we started to move more furniture out of there. The place in Cheltenham has laminated floors throughout so at first I decided just a sweeping brush would suffice but then on a trip to Argos I spotted the coolest vac I’d ever seen and at £39.99 I bought it on the spot.
The Morphy Richards POD is a bagless compact cleaner and it’s the coolest, cutest vacuum cleaner I’ve ever seen. The body of the vacuum cleaner is lime green and purple, two wacky colours I particularly like. It’s about one and a half foot long with two big...

Good value Bagless Vacuum.
Review of Morphy Richards 73310 by
ShellyQ1975
Advantages: 4 levels of surface thickness. Bagless. Light. Good value.
Disadvantages: Tends to tip up.
...It had been a while since I had owned an upright Vacuum, due to the fact that they tend to take up more room than most cleaners. But Upright Vacuums do house the attachment better, so this was a plus on it's part.
This is the Morphy Richards Ultralight Cyclone Vacuum. It has a maximum output of 1500 W which is about average for most vacuums, and does the job just nicely.
One of the best features on this vacuum is the 4 levels of surfaces that it caters for. The switch is located on the top of the bottom part of the vacuum, if that makes any sense. You just need to twist the button round to the level that you require. It caters for, hard floor and then 3 levels of carpet thickness. Ranging from 2 mm thick to 15mm thick. This is great for my bedroom carpet, which is very thick. And this vacuum manages to clean this carpet very well...

A GREAT LITTLE SUCKER
Review of Morphy Richards 73090 POD by
blurbubble
Advantages: Small, light, budget price
Disadvantages: May not be suitable for larger homes
...Well, some of you will remember that some time ago I wrote about the sad death, after about 10 years or so, of my little Goblin vacuum cleaner. But I now have a new love (and it doesn’t involve alcohol!)
I recently invested in a new vacuum cleaner – the extraordinarily cute Morphy Richards Pod. It’s very dinky, light and easy to use as well as being a flashy little number. It comes in bright green and purple plastic – a very cute little cylinder cleaner with very good wheels and a long flex.
My new friend boasts a 1300 watt motor and is very quiet but sucks with a passion! The flex hose is long and easy to use and has a few attachments for those hard to reach crevices. The main brush attachment has bristles which are very effective and grabbing the cat furs which adorn all my carpets.
I did a few price comparisons online before I...

'The Big Pod'
Review of Morphy Richards 73190 by
PaulineLees
Advantages: Lightweight, Small, Compact, Bagless, Affordable!
Disadvantages: None!
...I am a student living in a share house. So immediatly you think, dirt, dust, mess, mice....
...and you wouldn't be wrong. Unfortunatly!
And again, unfortunatly, I seemed to be the only member of the household that actually seemed bothered about it! Needless to say, a few attempts with the house vacuum cleaner proved useless, following my landlords need to vacuum up a load of plaster and dust, thus clogging it completely.
After a few weeks of nagging my landlord I gave up and purchased 'The Big Pod' Morphy Richards Bagless Vacuum Cleaner. Here is a list of the specification -
- Bagless full size Vacuum Cleaner
- 1800 watts (max power)
- Washable HEPA Filtration
- Large Capacity – 3.3 litres
- Translucent POD to show when it’s full
- Easy carry handle
- Foot controlled cable rewind
- Park position & storage position
- 1.8m long hose...

My New Vacuum Cleaner
Review of Morphy Richards 73361 by
lel1969
Advantages: Good Cleaning Power
Disadvantages: Too Heavy
...At long last a new vacuum cleaner! Over the past couple of months doing the hoovering in my house has been more of an exercise rather than real cleaning. My old vacuum cleaner still looked good and sounded good but that was it, it just didn't pick up any more. Time for a new one.
As with most people we still have a dent in our savings after Christmas so we decided to buy a new vacuum on a budget. After trailing many shops we decided the one offering the best performance with the best price was the Morphy Richards Cyclonic Bagless 1900W Upright Vacuum Cleaner. At £64.99 from Currys we felt this was a good deal for the features this cleaner was offering.
Technical Information
*Bagless Cyclone Technology
*Removable 2.7 litre dust container
*Washable Filtration
*4 to 1 Stretch Hose
*Ergonomic Loop Handle
*On Board Tool Storage
*7...
