I decided I wanted a kettle that: • Had a 360 degree base - for ease of placing the kettle onto the base • Illuminated when on • Had a concealed element • Was finished in a brushed or stainless steel finish • Had a matching toaster in the range • Was under £50 • Is made by a well known brand • And of course it must look good! I choose the Morphy Richards 43121 as it fitted ALL of my requirements and looked fantastic in the picture on the box. I purchased the kettle at Sainsburys where it had been reduced from £50 to £33. ...Our iron packed up over Christmas, we have previously used Morphy Richards stuff because we have found them to be reliable and do a suitable job whoever gets the short straw and has to do the ironing! Since this is my 1st review of 2006, my girlfriend has been given the all important job of testing out this new little puppy. Today being bank holiday Monday, we thought it was safe enough to explore the outside world again and hey ho hey ho it's off to Asda we go!! (I know a song about that!). Why o why don't Asda put irons with the electrical stuff? we searched for ages but eventually was told they were in isle 19! (Shame on us for not knowing!). ...We purchased this kettle a little over 2 years ago and until it broke gave us many problems. Although it looked great it was a horrible kettle to use Morphy Richards is a well respected name (purchased a morphy richards manhattan now) in the small home electrical market and from the out look this kettle is another good one, but how wrong we were. ...Morphy Richards Ultralight Cyclone 1500 W Vacuum Cleaner. This has to be by far the worst vacuum cleaner that I have had the misfortune to use in my entire life. The name suggests that it is lightweight, but this is far from so. It weighs 7.5 kg, compared to 5.3 kg for the Electrolux Cyclone Power Lite that I normally use. It is an upright hoover, which measures 42” high, 12.5” wide and 19” deep (front to back). It has a front loading dust cylinder in the same style as most modern vacuums. It has a bush button release mechanism to release the handle (from the upright position) but this can be a sod to get to operate properly, and it often results in the handle falling down and clumping me, normally on the back of the head. ...Having always bought basic, cheaper, yet practical kettles previously, when my last kettle gave up the ghost, I opted for a more expensive and popular brand. Morphy Richards is a well-known, long established company with many appliances attached to their name, so as I took myself off to the local hardware store, I had an idea which brand and what my next purchase would be. Firstly, I checked out the price of the kettle, but at just around £40.00, I did wonder whether I was being a little too extravagant with my spending! Once again, I perused the cheaper brands and I have to say, I was tempted to buy one. However, on checking out the Morphy Richards 43139 again, I thought it's 'olde worlde' style gave the appliance a touch of class; so on that, and it's water holding capacity, I finally made my decision. ...of the machine are very good, I have to say, very easy to understand, not that the machine is complicated to use anyway. The other problem is the bread pan that comes with the machine. I've had my machine almost three years now and it's been used on very nearly a daily basis, and it's still going strong. However, when it was a year old, the pin that the kneading blade sits on decided to detach itself from the pan. Luckily enough, it was still under warranty and so Morphy Richards replaced it without question. Unfortunately 18 months later (which takes us to last month) exactly the same thing happened again, so I'm going to have to replace the bread pan myself this time. ...I spent a lot of time researching which breadmaker to buy as just before christmas my old Morphy Richards one expired (after 9 years - so I couldn't complain!) In the end I decided on the Morphy Richards 48268 (as against the Panasonic that friends have raved about). THE REASONS: Financially (a big reason) it was £42 as oppossed to over £75 for the panasonic one. I liked the idea of a drop down blade, means that there is less of a hole ripped out of your bread (happened to my last breadmaker as it got old). Didn't feel that the automatic nut dispenser was really worth the extra money - especially as I feel capable of tipping them in when it beeps I read somewhere that it takes 3hrs for a loaf (I never bother with the fast bake as it never seems worth while) as against about 4 for the panasonic. ...After seaching high and low we settled on the Morphy Richards Manhattan Kettle to replace our other Morphy Richards Kettle 43120 Glass Please read the review on the 43120 when i post is as it is a dangerous kettle Anyway back to the new Manhattan The kettle is finished in a highly polished shiney chrome which actually resists finger prints very well so it stays cleaner. It gives the appearance of being very tall and slim and in the shop it looked a bit odd but when we got it home it fitted in so well. It has a double cool wall and for those who are worrined as it is metal and conducting heat from the water don't. Yes its gets warm but not hot enough to scold if you accidently touch it.
