Another reason to fill up at Morrisons
Review of Morrisons Miles Card by
moo-cow
Advantages: Still save points if you forget card, no personal information collected, no expiry date
Disadvantages: No way of combining cards, no change given, points lost forever if card is lost
...Morrisons' catchphrase is "The very best for less". Now that's highly debateable. I've no doubt that they're cheap when it comes to many things, but I take offence at the "very best" bit. I don't think so, myself. Still, they bellow it out to all who'll listen - and to those who are really trying not to. As well as an obviously dim-witted lady who I once caught screeching "Morrisons: The very less for less" into the tannoy system (her voice was enough to turn your milk, but she made me chuckle), you might also hear "Another reason to shop at Morrisons" and the latest one "Morrisons: Miles better" as you fill your trolley with goodies (or baddies if you like your food fresh). Not that they're trying to brainwash you at Morrisons, though.
This, of course, begs the question: Miles better than what? It sure as heck ain't Tesco, Sainsbury...

Morrisons - The Very Best for Less
Review of Morrisons (Shop) by
blondgem
Advantages: clean, cheaper, good range
Disadvantages: -
...As a rule I do most of my shopping at Tesco as it it closer to my home, however earlier last week, I took a trip to my Morrisons which is closer to where I work and was amazed to see that it had been through a great refurbishment. I have always liked Morrisons but always found there stores to be a little bit dull. The produce I have always found to be good but just the stores in general just put me off a little. I have been to others across the country too and they were somewhat the same, so I'm not sure whether they have all gone through this refurbishment too.
In addition, I don't think it is just refurbishment, although I haven't seen anything as such in the media but I think our Morrisons has actually rebranded giving themselves this whle new look to portray excellence. They have also had a new logo, which I think is slightly...

Why Don't You BOGOF to Morrisons....
Review of Morrisons (Shop) by
rachels_ratty
Advantages: Cheap prices, fresh produce, clean and airy store, well stocked shelves
Disadvantages: The cafe staff need a swift kick up their collective backsides...
...Some of you may remember an op I posted here a few weeks ago, well it was more of a rant really, about Safeway. In that I declared “never again” and I was off to Morrisons. And off to Morrisons I sure did go and have been several times now. So, sat here pondering what to write about next, I thought it was about time I put fingers to keyboard and tell the world what my local store is like…
~ But first…A Brief History and Facts ~
William Morrison founded the company as an egg and butter merchants in 1899. Over time it progressed through market stalls and then into counter service. The first small shop was opened in Bradford in 1958 and the first ‘supermarket’, again in Bradford in 1961. Today William’s son Ken runs Morrisons. They have 118 stores mainly across the north, the Midlands and into Wales. 97 of these have petrol filling...

Morrisons - Ken knows what he's doing
Review of Morrisons (Shop) by
br5968
Advantages: Concept, Prices, Service, Quality, Range
Disadvantages: Converted Safeway shops not as good as originals
...I've grown up shopping at Morrisons, and while living in the North East and Yorkshire they were always my first choice supermarket. When I moved South, the lack of Morrisons meant I had to find somewhere else to shop - I tried Tesco, Sainsburys, Waitrose, Safeway and even Iceland, but nowhere quite matched the magic of Morrisons.
Concept
Morrisons is based around the 'Market Street' - a route through the the store with individual 'shops' on it. It usually starts with WM Morrison's Fishmongers, then carries on via Greengrocers, Pizzeria, Bakers, Cake Shop, Pie Shop, Deli, Take-Away, etc etc.
There's also the Wine and Spirit merchants, and of course the normal selection of groceries you would expect at any supermarket. On concept, Morrisons wins hands down - far more imaginiative and friendly than any of the other...

More reasons not to shop at Morrisons
Review of Morrisons (Shop) by
micjb
Advantages: Morrisons has low prices
Disadvantages: Everything else about the place
...We have a Morrisons store quite near to where we live but we only visit the store very occasionally. Morrisons seem to be expanding a lot recently, and with 2 more stores planned this and next year in Liverpool (Speke and Belle Vale) they will be pretty big in no time.
To find out why I hardly ever go to the store please read the rest of my opinion!
~~~THE STORE~~~
On the first visit to the store a few years ago (around three) we were presented with a dirty early-nineties building that was absolutely crammed with customers to the point of bursting, why this was I will never know.
On the last visit just a couple of weeks ago, the trollies were bashed, broken and dirty, and had the odd peice of litter hanging around in the bottom. And yes, they do have those infuriating £1 devices attatched! Up to this point I wasn't at all...
More Reasons To Shop At Morrisons
Review of Morrisons (Shop) by
carysb
Advantages: BOGOF, Offers, Clean, Good Layout, Suitable Parking
Disadvantages: Not enough stores
... Where Are Morrisons?
You will probably see Morrisons more frequently in your national tabloid paper or on the television more frequently than anywhere else as the advertise their 2 4 1 bargains with national celebrities such as Alan Hansen, Lulu and Gabby Logan, or in the paper with 2 shopping trolleys bulging with goodies, twice as many as their competitors.
My local Morrisons is in Basingstoke. They are not as common a sight as Tesco or Sainsbury's and they do not have the smaller convenience stores over running the country, but they have superstores packed to the rafters with everything you could possibly need in your house hold shop and they are the 4th leading UK supermarket.
My most recent experience of Morrisons and the one I write of was following a move into a new flat away from my parents. My flat mate and I took...
Morrisons. There are more reasons to shop there!
Review of Morrisons (Shop) by
Martinscholes
Advantages: A good range
Disadvantages: Not all branches are quite as good as the best
...There are, as the jingle for the Morisons advert used to say: "More reasons to shop at Morisons."
The company was founded in the late 19 century by a Mr William Morrison who was a market trader. He opened his first stall in Bradford market in 1899. He was a retailer of eggs an butter. Incidentally he was the father of Ken Morrison, the current chairman of Morrisons, or William Morrisons, to give it it's full name.
Some time during the 1950s the firm eschewed the market for a shop in the centre of Bradford. It had three checkouts (pretty much unheard of, back then, and introduced the concept of self-service and individually priced goods to the citizens of Bradford.
It must have caught on because within a few years (1961) the company opened its first supermarket in a converted cinema in the city.
Thus are the beginnings of one...
Morrisons my life in their hands
Review of Morrison, (WM) Supermarkets by
a4870
Advantages: good pay, pension scheme, staff discount, training
Disadvantages: long hours, very demanding
...I worked for Wm Morrison Supermarkets for 14 years (leaving in December 2002). I started as a enthusiastic deli assistant and ended as a disillusioned Department manager. this piece is quite long i know but i think all of it is relevant if you want to know about this company. for a quick summary go to to last paragraph.
I started working for the company way back in 1989, At the time Morrisons were a relatively unknown company with less than 50 stores all in the North of England.
HOW I GOT MY JOB
The store was still being built, I walked in off the street had an interview straight away and within 2 hours they had called to say I had the job. I worked full time on the deli counter, it was not a great start (the store officially opened two days later) I had a few hours training and an induction then was thrown in at the deep end...
Morrisons Review
Review of Morrisons (Shop) by
Razzmond
Advantages: Better layout then rival supermarkets
Disadvantages: Overpriced, Poor Management
...Although I will admit to being a regular Tesco & ASDA shopper, I cant help popping into Morrisons every now and then.
Morrisons was originally founded as a simple market stall and has since progressed through the steps to an accepted member of our supermarkets.
Layout and Aesthetic
Morrisons has a difference, it has the face of a market stall, a tradition that points towards their roots and lets everyone know that they havent forgotten how far they came thanks to the customers. Uniforms of stall are colour coded dependent on your position in the shop such as fresh fruit and veg, frozen produce, tills etc and everything is laid out with the aesthetic of market stalls however the layout looks too cheap and tacky and plastic for my liking but perhaps you could learn to accept it, like a scar on your hairline. Not particularly...
Morrison's Unscented Baby Wipes
Review of Morrisons Baby Wipes by
aly5on
Advantages: Cheaper than big brands, Good quality product
Disadvantages: Only available at Morrisons
...I have been a very regular user and purchaser of baby wipes since the birth of my little girl, some 18 months ago. Always on the look out for a bargain I recently tried Morrison’s own brand Non Fragranced Wipes.
Now I am not averse to paying more for quality, and appreciate that baby wipes are god’s gift to parents, but with premium brands such as Pampers and Huggies charging in the region of 3.50 to 4.00 per pack decided to give these ago.
***The Pack***
The pack I purchased was the non-fragranced version. I chose these because the last pack of shops own perfumed variety I bought were Asda’s and they smelt very strongly of perfume and alcohol. I don’t mind a baby lotion type smell but the Asda ones were awful.
The Morrison’s unscented wipes are presented in a powder blue wrapper with a white label on the top of the pack...
