Morrissey
Advantages: Good songs
Disadvantages: None
...I really like the album. According to the Guardian: " Visconti treats him as a handsome Latino melodramatist suffering from a kitsch surfeit of imagination as much as a damp, exiled Mancunian miserabilist with a cold tendency to nostalgic self-obsession. Ultimately, Visconti helps transform Morrissey's dogged oddness and phenomenal fussiness into pure magic. Love him or hate him, there's no one better at loving and hating."
Complete Song List:
1. I Will See You In Far Off Places
2. Dear God, Please Help Me
3. You Have Killed Me
4. The Youngest Was The Most Loved
5. In The Future When All's Well
6. The Father Who Must Be Killed
7. Life Is A Pigsty
8. I'll Never Be Anybody's Hero Now
9. On The Streets I Ran
10. To Me You Are A Work Of Art
11. I Just Want To See The Boy Happy

Review of Ringleader Of The Tormentors - Morrissey

this is how Morrissey grew up!
Advantages: best of the new stuff + old classics
Disadvantages: a fair few fillers
...For the few people who have read some of my reviews I think its more than apparent that I am a massive fan of Morrissey, in my opinion, probably the greatest to ever pen such classic, personal lyrics. Only last week I witnessed him live for about the 6th time in a couple of years. Yet rather than go all over the top and give him five stars just for being amazing to me I am gonna hold back and give what my head, not my heart tells me.
Opening with 'First of the Gang to Die' , arguably his best song in recent times is a Morrissey classic that deserved to reach the summit of the now crowded with pure toss pop charts (James Blunt etc) as opposed to another customary top ten hit for Moz. This greatest hits failings are evident with the next two songs 'in the future when alls well' and 'i just want to see the boy happy', which are solid...

FREE DVDs
Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review
...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.
∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊
Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

Morrissey: The Jewel In His Crown
Advantages: Morrissey's Crowning Achievement
Disadvantages: None
...Following Morrissey's superb glam-rock album "Your Arsenal", many believed he was hard pushed to have it topped. They were wrong, very wrong. Released in 1994, "Vauxhall and I" proved to be Morrissey's solo crowning achievement. The album gave Morrissey not only his first hit single, but also a well-deserved UK number one album.
The album, unlike its predecessor, is gentler both lyrically and musically and shows Morrissey at his most contemplative. This is evident right from the onset with the slow-tempo song "Now My Heart Is Full" - inspired by the film "Brighton Rock". In the song, Morrissey manages to incorporate his almost habitual theme of loneliness with lines such as "Tell all of my friends/ (I don't have too many...)".
The second song of the album, "Spring-Heeled Jim" is underpinned with a sample from the 1959...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Morrissey: The Definitive DVD
Advantages: Morrissey on top form. Fantastic extras.
Disadvantages: Questionable sound mix
...It was during the summer of 2004, that the Stretford-born Steven Patrick Morrissey had made his long awaited 'come-back'. After many years of semi-reclusion in Los Angeles, Morrissey and his band had completed work on their seventh studio album, entitled "You Are The Quarry". The album received critical acclaim across the board and demonstrated if anything, that Morrissey was back.
Recorded on Morrissey's 45th birthday and in his home town of Manchester, Morrissey gave one of the strongest performances of his career. The zealous audience was not only treated to the highlights of his latest album, but also to those of his extensive back-catalogue including many hits from his Smiths days.
The set-list began with the recent chart-topper "First Of The Gang To Die" and progressed onto other highlights including; the thunderous...

Morrissey - You Are The Quarry reviewed
Advantages: You won't find lyrics like this anywhere else
Disadvantages: The quality is weighed far too heavy onto the lyrics and not the music for many songs
...He's back! And he's good! Whilst there seems to be a hyperbolic cheer at Morrissey coming back despite the fact his solo albums were not recieved, it is great to see him with singles that are good. I'm sure many do not remember the song Dagenham Dave do they? It wasn't good in any way, the only reason I remember it is because my brothers pointed out the fact that I was born in Dagenham and my middle name is David!
Whilst Morrissey has a fantastic voice and puts great music with it (be it with Johnny Marr in the Smiths or as a solo artist, occasionally), many, including my girlfriend, cannot see the appeal of a man who seems unable to come to terms with the world. What they fail to appreciate is that, whilst his views appear often contradictory, he is, as Orwell puts it, 'in a minority of one, but that doesn't make him wrong...

Review from a new Morrissey fan!
Advantages: Catchy, beautiful music, lovely vocals, insightful lyrics.
Disadvantages: Maybe too political/controversial for some. Many, many editions.
...Up until two weeks ago, I had never even heard of Morrissey before. (I'm a female college student in the Eastern United States. Not too many Morrissey fans here!) But I was sitting in the nurse's waiting room to check up on an allergy, and I flipped through the latest issue of SPIN Magazine. They were thoroughly praising "You Are The Quarry" and the single "Irish Blood English Heart," so I decided to download the song and give it a try. And this led to another download... and another... and soon I've heard the entire album and I'm ordering the deluxe CD/DVD edition off of the Internet. Instant fan! Haha.
This CD is very consistent musically. This is rock music with a slightly dark sound, smoothed out in slower tracks by sweeping background strings, and leaning toward pop in some tracks with moderately driving pop rhythms. The melodies...

Maladjusted Indeed
Advantages: A few decent songs for fans
Disadvantages: A very mediocre record
...Recorded quickly and released in 1997 with little fanfare, Maladjusted is by some considerable distance the most half-arsed and mediocre collection of songs ever put out under Morrissey's name. Morrissey doesn't seem especially inspired by the ho-hum music he is forced to work with here and everything, including the lyrics and artwork, are below his usual standards and attention to detail.
He regrouped several years later and returned to form, but Maladjusted seemed easy to portray as the beginning of a terminal decline at the time. The record has a homemade, knocked together sound and doesn't repay a repeat listen. Reviews were mixed, with some ok ones, but I believe Maladjusted is close to being a terrible album. Only one or two bright spots save it from being a total waste of time.

Glimpse of the world more like
Advantages: great versions of b-sides
Disadvantages: too many fillers
...Morrissey, whilst in the Smiths once sung, tongue firmly in cheek, about the ways in which artists released and re-released old material to make an extra few quid. "Reissue, reissue, repackage, re evaluate the songs" was the cry on the smiths swansong 'strangeways here we come'.
Content
It becomes interesting that this compilation, 'World of Morrissey', which has a very diverse song selection, is probably an ironical compliment to those past smiths lyrics. Released in 1995 and being unusual in the first instance that Morrissey's face is not plastered over the front cover (a standard format for any Moz CD). The weirdness doesn't stop there, it takes until track 7 to reach a single, which incidentally is a very average (by Morrissey standards) live version of "Your the one for me, fatty" - not one I have found to sing to...
