Inn 'is Gunn's Smoking Barrel
Advantages: Very, very nice
Disadvantages: Clear glass bottles
...While perusing the aisles of the beer section one Saturday morning recently, I noticed a shiny new kid on the block. A beer from a Scottish brewer I hadn't heard of (both beer and brewer). So I bought it...and drank it....and now I'm writing about it.
The brewing company of INNIS & GUNN was formed last year by father and son team Russell and Dougal Sharp. However, they're not exactly newcomers to the business as for a number of years Dougal was head brewer at the Caledonian Brewery - which Russell founded. They must have parted company on amiable terms because Caledonian is still involved, brewing INNIS & GUNN'S OAK AGED BEER under licence.
The company were formed when it was discovered that William Grant - the producers of Glenfiddich whisky, were using beer to produce an ale-casked whisky by seasoning the cask interior. Trouble...

FREE DVDs
Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review
...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.
∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊
Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

Holy Moses have done it again
Advantages: A quality album from the German thrash artists
Disadvantages: None
...Agony of Death is the Holy Moses' 12th album in a career which spans back to the late 80s. Despite the years having passed, the band haven't changed their style and what you get here is a blast from the past with Holy Moses' brand of relatively simple yet productive thrash metal. The heavier brands of metal tend to be dominated by technical bands these days, so it's nice to see these guys blasting it out like thrash gods (& godess)
Sabina's vocals are particularly enjoyable, the queen of rock n roll was one of the first and is still one of the only women to have mastered the death growl. I would say her voice being female adds a hidden dimension to the death growl which actually makes it sound harsher than ever.
This is a great album and my favourite track is the electrifying World in Darkness. Fiery and immense, it is a must buy...

Rocking Moses Basket Stand
Advantages: Nice colours/finishes
Disadvantages: Poor value for money
...I bought the ivory version of this stand for my little boys moses basket. It was quite a bit more expensive at £32 compared to other stands, but I wanted a stand in white/ivory & also one that had the option of rocking. The stand is very good quality and finish. A bit tricky to put together (takes 2 people to hold all the bits). There are 2 plastic discs that can be adjusted to (supposedly) stop the stand rocking, but don't rely on them to stay put & do the job they're supposed to! On the downside, I was hoping to be able to use the stand for the babys bath aswell, but it didn't fit on this stand (perhaps it's just my bath, but being a M&P bath I hoped it would fit). At the end oft he day, I should have gone for a cheaper version - my son didn't much appreciate the rocking, & I found it easier to put the basket on the floor with regards...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Zeddy & Rhubarb Moses Basket
Advantages: ideal first bed
Disadvantages: can be expensive depending how quick grown out of
...We got told by so many people "don't buy a moses basket....complete waste of money....will only last a few weeks....couple of months at the most"! In our case, those statements were complete nonsense. Our daughter was 7lb 3oz when she was born and 49cm in length (the average-sized baby). The first night we had her home, she looked like a little dot in her big cot - in fact she didn't look very comfortable at all. The following morning, my husband drove up to Kiddicare in Peterborough to purchase a moses basket for her, together with the Mamas & Papas Rocking Moses Basket/Carrycot Stand. The stand cost £26.99 and the basket (Zeddy & Rhubarb) cost £68.00. Normal Mamas & Papas retail price for the basket is around £86.00. As far as I know, Kiddicare are no longer stocking Mamas & Papas products, but I believe Glasgow Pram Centre (www...

Let Her Be Your Girl
Advantages: A strong mix of songs
Disadvantages: Average at times
...The New Orleans R&B singer Teedra Moses released her debut album in 2004. Her album dropped following success writing for the likes of Nivea, Christina Milian and Teairra Marie. She made a relatively big impact with her hit song, ?Be Your Girl?, but failed to make any sort of impression on the UK scene following this.
1. ?Be Your Girl?
Getting things going you have the song which really got her career going. It was her debut single, and so needed to make an impact, and that it something it clearly did come up with as you find that it is based upon the drum loop of ?Billie Jean? and has her doing a Soul track inspired by the raw sound of the ?90s and the type of thing which came from the middle of the decade. It is a big tune, and just the way you like things to begin.
**Five Stars**
2. ?You?ll Never Find?

Could Have Been a Better World
Advantages: A couple of new ideas
Disadvantages: Not a great deal of depth
...Given the recent success of the film version of Matheson's "I Am Legend", it's not a surprise that anything featuring humans fighting vampires should be optioned for a film version. Admittedly, the identity of the enemy is really the only thing the two books have in common, but on reading this one, I can see exactly why the film industry would be interested.
Gunn shows us how the vampires first seized control after the break down of civilisation. We are briefly introduced to their human guards and the methods they use to keep them and the human populace under control. After this, it's straight into the action, as a group of rebels seek to destroy their local group of vampires, led by Nero.
There is little subtlety to their methods, mostly involving the humans destroying and killing as many of the vampires and as much of their...

In the footsteps of Moses
Advantages: a potential life changing experience
Disadvantages: a hard climb and a long days travel
...of the Book" it is a whole place to most religious worshippers of the Europe, The Middle East and large parts of Asia.
For those unaware of the legend attached it is this. Moses lived in Egypt amongst the emerging Hebrew nation who lived as a slave race in that place. After fleeing the land he finds his god who talks to him through a burning bush in the Sinai wilderness coincidentally also at the foot of Mount Sinai. In a world in which nature itself is worshiped, God shows that He rules over it and Moses becomes his follower and prophet. Ordered to return to Egypt to free his people, he eventually leads them across the Red Sea, of which God has parted the waters and takes his people on their first step towards their promised land. In the wilderness Moses climbs Mount Sinai to talk to his God and is given the Ten Commandments, stone tablets...
