It wasn't long though until we found a saloon, a convenience store and further along the main street we could see signs for a Motel 6 right next to the Stagecoach Hotel and Casino along with a gas station. Signs advertised pretty cheap prices for the Motel 6 and we thought it looked lovely and clean alongside the somewhat tackier looking Casino accommodation so we drove in to enquire what was on offer. ***Motel 6's*** There are many of these motels all over the USA and if you are looking for reasonably priced accommodation with no frills then these are the ones for you. You can book ahead from one to the next if you are travelling like us, although I have to say we decided to wait and look for something a bit more luxurious in the towns we stopped off in on our road trip. Advantages: Easy to find with spacious rooms

...Do not be put off by the reception being to the rear of the Motel. This is to avoid the crowds waiting for a table in their excellent restaurant. The rooms are spacious with large bathrooms and all the usual facilities such as multilingual tv channels and mini-bar. Facilities include a gymnasium and large swimming pool, with a sports shop to purchase those forgotten items. A general shop is located at the front of the Motel for more mundane items and gifts. The bar, situated to the rear of the Motel, is large and comfortable with sofas and armchairs, and has a view of the pool. Outside of the Motel are facilities for local sports teams and competietive games are held there. You are only a short, walking, distance of Animali which is a smal zoo. Eindhoven is only a short drive (3km) and you are at the side of the A2 with direct access... Read review

Advantages: Near to Half Moon Bay Marina
Disadvantages: Poor quality, rude aggressive management

...My wife and I have stayed at the Half Moon Bay Marina Motel a number of times in the past, the last time being about 2 years ago. We knew that the nice Dutch couple that originally owned the Motel had left about the time we were last there, but we booked into it again when we visited friends in Auckland Upon arrival, the 1 bedroom unit booked was not available, as another customer was staying on. We were shown a studio unit, and the asian manager asked us three times if it was O.K., and we said it was. We dropped our bags off and went visiting. Upon our return later that night, we were both very tired so collapsed in bed. When we got up in the morning and started using the facilities, we found that the unit was in a poor state of repair. Advantages: Close to railroads

...I find it amazing that I can sit at home and make a reservation for a motel 4000 miles away, turn up, give my surname and the motel can tell me my first name! If you arrive after around 10pm the reception area will be closed, this happens every night to protect the staff and rather than serving you over the large counter you visit a small window in the lobby area instead. There were ice machines, vending machines with crisps, chocolate, toothpaste, gum, and "sodas" in the lobby. The reception area proper has a large selection of tourist information leaflets, and from early to mid morning coffee on the go. Being close to the railroad meant that there was a lot of noise, and this really isn't a place for light sleepers. ...on the small side, but the were two each and face cloths. There was also a bar of soap each, an ice bucket. We had a queen room, which has one double bed, and a table and chairs. There were coat hangers and a suitcase rack. The TV had around 20 channels. The room was however spotlessly clean. We ate both dinner and breakfast at the next door Tamarisk restaurant, which was wonderful. Great choice, friendly service and delicious food. As far as I remember there were a few other fast food places around town. We only had one night in Green River so I can't tell you what the room servicing was like but there was a note saying bed linen is changed every 3 days unless you request different, towels left in the shower are replaced and the beds made daily. The motel has an outside pool, with sunloungers around the edge, but we didn't use it... Read review

...Close to airport, the website says it is 4 miles, it was probably 10 minutes from us setting off in our hire car to arriving at the motel. The reception area was closed when we arrived around 11pm, this happens every night to protect the staff and rather than serving you over the large counter you visit a small window in the lobby area instead. There were ice machines, vending machines with crisps, chocolate, toothpaste, gum, and "sodas" in the lobby. The reception area proper has a large selection of tourist information leaflets, and from early to mid morning coffee on the go. Being close to the Interstate meant that there was some road noise, as well as two trains each night on the nearby railroad track. However as I am a heavy sleeper and was tired from a stupidly long day flying in from the UK this didn't bother me... Read review

...I recently paid a month visit to Nigeria over the summer, and I must say I had alot more fun than I thought I would. I visited many places and stayed also in several hotels, at the expence of my mum! :-). But one hotel that did make an impression on me was the Motel Benin Plaza, which I must say is just as good as any hotel you would find in England. Rooms: They have several room options, from the basic single room to your very own bungalow. Unsure of which room I wanted to stay in I requested to check every single room they had on offer. The single bedroom was quaint but quite small for me and my mum to obviously share, but if anyone does go to visit on their own I'm sure they would love it as it looked so comfortable and had a calming atmosphere. Advantages: Good prices! Near(ish) to Alton Towers.
Disadvantages: Basic (but do-able)

...Location: The hotel is on the Westbound carriageway of the A50, and is just a couple of miles from the M1, off of J24. The A50 also joins up with the M6 at the other end. This is close to the East Midlands airport, Derby, Donnington Park race Track and Alton Towers. Be aware the adverts say its just 30 mins to Alton Towers. Treat the journey as 40 mins and you'll be ok. Note on Location: The hotel and facilities are ONLY available when travelling on the Westbound carriageway. If your travelling Eastbound, you have to go up to the junction with the M1 to be able to turn round (but its only a few mins away). Hotel or Motel: If your expecting something like the Hilton or Holiday Inn (plush and fancy) then you wont like it here. ...We arrived at the Mount Robson Inn in the Jasper National Park late one afternoon after a long coach journey and check in was very quick. Just as well, as the reception was quite small, although there was a couple of settees that you could sit on whilst waiting and some leaflets about the area. Our luggage was taken straight from the coach and in our room for when we arrived, if you drove you had to deal with your own luggage, as this is really a "motel" rather than a "hotel". We were given a plan on how to find the room, there were 80 different suites and rooms, on two levels, set around a large courtyard which was the parking area and looked very pretty with raised flower tubs. Also in the courtyard was a raised area with two reasonable sized hot tubs, after a busy days relaxing in a hot tub is great, there were a few sun beds... Read review

Advantages: Great diverse Kristin Hersh solo album
Disadvantages: You'll probably have to pay for yours!

...of listens, which makes for an equally laid back listen despite the presence of a more diverse set of instruments and sounds. While most of Kristin's albums are great, (especially Strange Angels), I am really struck by the inventiveness of songwriting and instrumentation on Sky Motel. I wish I could write something this good! There is more of an experimental feel to it than either of her first two solo albums, whilst still retaining a lot of traditional songwriting values. In places it is closer in sound to her Throwing Muses output than some of her other work. Below I will have a go at writing comments about each of the songs as I listen to the album: 1.
