Mothercare wide necked feeding bottles
Advantages: None other than they fit in my microwave steriliser
Disadvantages: Very poor value for money, just not up to the job
...wrong (but don't let my family know I admit to this)
They look good being nice and bulbous with minty green round caps and are easy to clean but there my praise ends.
Firstly upon using, the twins couldn't feed from them. The silicone teats are advertised as 'variable' and from the look it seemed that the harder they suck, the more comes out - not so - the poor little mites couldn't get a drop no matter hard they suckled.
These teats should be advertised as NOT FOR USE WITH A NEWBORN.
In the end I had to go out and buy Advent teats (which DO fit the Mothercare bottles) to enable the babies to feed. All in all I had to replace 12 teats at a cost of almost £3-00 a pair and therefore spent far more than I would have done had I chosen the Advent range originally.
But worse was to come....................
After about 5 months...

Mothercare Steriliser Bottle
Advantages: Easy to use, saves time and handy in an emergency.
Disadvantages: Quite pricy compared to other bottles, gets very hot when microwaved and limited in styles.
...I found the Mothercare Steriliser Bottle to be a very useful product. I first saw it advertised in a baby magazine but thought the advert didn't do the bottle justice. It solves a lot of feeding problem situations. For example, when i visit my parents with my daughter i take a couple of feeds ready prepared to feed her during our visit, but should we decide to stay longer have no means of sterilising a bottle. With the Mothercare Steriliser Bottle you simply fill the lid with water, tip upside down and microwave for 2 minutes. The only disadvantage i found was that you have to do this at least 20 minutes before you want to use the bottle to give it chance to cool down. The bottle also only comes in the one style wide neck bottle so if you use the slim neck bottles it could take a while for baby to adapt to regular use. The Mothercare...

Avent Bottles
Advantages: Look like a bottle
Disadvantages: Can leak
...In my opinion Avent bottles look like a bottle should and have excellent wear and tear value.
I prefer the look of the Avent bottle compare to the tommie tippie (closer to nature) bottles as the tommie tippie teats look too natural and I am sure thats the point but I like a bottle to look like a bottle.
The Avent bottle wash well in the dishwasher, however you might not want to wash them with plates or saucepans that have just cooked Bolognese or curry as they do stain the color of the teats and lids.
They can leak from time to time, so make sure before you set off that you check it first otherwise you might end up with milk all over the place.
These bottle also work really well with the Avent pump. Just screw on and go.
The teats also come in different sizes for thicker liquids or hungrier babies. These are not cheap at around £4...

Best Bottles Available
Advantages: Babies actually seem to like them, easy to clean, lots of accessories available so they can last you for many years
Disadvantages: none
...I started using Avent bottles with my son, George, he was breastfed but I used the Avent breast pump (which you can attached directly to the feeding bottle) to express off some milk. I started him getting used to a bottle early (2 weeks old) he took to the bottle straight away. These bottles are apparently like sucking from the breast for a baby and George certainly had no problems.
You can buy all sorts of accessories to use with the bottles, ie different flow rates of teat, from slow flow suitable for breastfed babies (as breastfed babies can get addicted to bottles and go off the breast as the bottle is easier to get the milk from!) training spouts and also the new magic cup which the lid will fit directly onto the bottle (like the anyway up cup, with no spills, except you can actually get the liquid out without sucking excessively...

BEST BOTTLES EVER MADE
Advantages: Very strong, easy to clean
Disadvantages: None
...I have to say that the AVENT bottles are the only ones I have ever bought.
No mater how many times they are dropped they never seem to break.
You can obtain them in 4oz size, which is handy for Juice, and 9oz size bottles.
When you start to wean them onto beaker cups there's no need to buy a cup continue with the bottles as you can buy a spout and handles for the AVENT bottles, how neat that is.
You can get a range of teats Slow flow, Medium flow, Fast flow and Variable flow which has marks on the teat 1 line for slow, 2 lines for medium, and 3 lines for fast flow that way your child can pick which way on the teat he/she wants.
At first it is better starting with slow flow.
I have to admit I did have a set that lasted about a year, with the measure marks still in place, they never fade.
You can also buy lids...

Hitting The Bottle!
Advantages: cheaper than Avent
Disadvantages: a few things...
...closer to nature and this is because they have a super soft silicone teat that is said to resemble to breast as much as possible. This I suppose would be very handy if you were breast feeding as well as bottle feeding and perhaps expressing your own milk and using one of these bottles would make it much less confusing for the baby being fed. I however have not breast fed at all so the fact that they are said to be as close to a breast as possible really has no affect on me or on baby jack.
These bottles can be used from birth and have an easy hold design that I expect is meant for the child rather than the parent. The shape of the bottle merely has a smaller bit in which to hold on to and this I think would be good for when the child is able to feed themselves. When I use these bottles now this shape probably has more of a negative...

avent bottles
Advantages: best around
Disadvantages: price
...avent bottles in my opinion are the best around, ive tried several other bottles and teats but avent are the only ones that dont leak all over me and the baby and that he enjoys drinking from. compared to all the other leading brands i find these are definatley the best around andthey cost about the same as all the other brands so i would go for these every time. they come in two sizes 125 ml and 260 ml and are sold in most places and you can get replacement teat sfor them too. they are ok value for money but could be cheaper i think there about 8.00 for two but you only need a few so doesnt come to too much they also fit in the brest pumps so it makes it esier if your expressing milk and for easy storage.
overall very good and would def recommend to anyone....

Easy for babies to feed themselves
Advantages: Wide range of accessories and long lasting
Disadvantages: More expensive than others
...for this type of bottle. You can convert the feeding bottle into a beaker as Avent have released a beaker with the same size neck so all you have to do is buy the handle with the spout and attach it on as you would if you were making up a bottle of milk. These beaker tops have been designed so that, should your little one knock it over by accident, there is no mess as it does not leak unless you really shake it with some strength.
If that hasn't pursuaded you then this fact should... Avent bottles with the Avent teats have been clinically proven to reduce colic and I have to say that my little one has yet to suffer from colic.
The bottles come in 2 sizes, 4oz and 9oz and the beakers themselves come in a variety of different colours. The teats can either be in white or blue.
An extra added bonus for mothers is that because the bottles...

Mothercare Steriliser Bottle
Advantages: Save time, easy to sterilise, relatively cheap
Disadvantages: If you lose a lid you cannot sterilise the bottle
...After yesterdays op about my emergency steribottles I thought I'd let you in on the bottles I normally use to feed my baby.
Going back three years when I had my first baby I remember spending £40 on an avent steam steriliser which was huge and took up a lot of space on the kitchen work-surface. The whole process of sterilising and making up the bottles would take almost an hour and was a very daunting task, during which I often burned myself and teats were often damaged.
When I realised I was expecting again I was determined to find a better way to sterilise the bottles as with two children I would have even less time.
It was then that my mother pointed out to me Mothercare steriliser bottles. They are normal looking feeding bottles only they can be sterilised in the microwave! One bottle takes one and a half minutes...

Avent Bottles, Brilliant once you know how to put them together
Advantages: easy to clean.
Disadvantages: Leaking issues if not put together correctly.
...The Avent Airflex bottles come in two sizes 4oz and 9oz. When I started to bottle feed my daughter I bought the 4oz bottles which just over a month later I regretted as my little girl was wanting more than 4oz a feed which meant that I had to buy 9oz bottles instead.
CLEANING
The bottles come apart into 4 pieces, the bottle itself, the teet. the screw ring and the lid. The bottle is very easy to clean when using a bottle brush, if you dont have one then you will find it very hard to get your hand to the bottom of the bottle to wash it out properly. As for the teet, you need to make sure that you get inside the rim of it which I found is easier to do with a sponge rather than a brush but other than that the bottles are very quick and easy to wash.
LEAKING ISSUES
When I first started to use these bottles I...
