...If you are young or old, try asking for a motor insurance quotation from the CIS. My vehicle is a Range Rover with an engine conversion. Most companies would not even quote, the CIS insured it at normal rates, and these rates are very competetive. Also, if you do happen to have an accident, I understand that they are very efficient in settling, and this comes not from personal experience, but from a friend in the motor trade who repairs cars, and who often has trouble with other 'all singing, all dancing' companies, who when push comes to shove, literally, don't fulfil their obligations to the customer. Also I know, particularly if you are young the temptation is to look for a cheap alternative, but in the long term, it is best to start a policy in your own name, and start to build your no claims. ...Having bought a car recently prompted me to hunt for a motor insurance. To my despair, I could not find a reasonably cheap insurance for the car shared by me and a friend. The highest quote came to about 1200 quid from AA which is ridiculous. Being a UK resident for under 3 years and new drivers, we are put at a disadvantage. Most less-known motor insurance companies are quoting around 800 quid for a fully comprehensive cover at an excess of 200 quid for damage and loss. Finally, we surfed the web and come across a really cheap and good motor insurance policy from Holdsure Motor insurance group. Cost us about 530quid for a fully comprehensive cover, the coverage is good except that the excess is 300 quid, slightly higher. ...Most of us usually get tired constantly up phoning a round for a motor insurance quote. If you log in to the internet you can receive a quote or a competitive quote very quickly, you may be suprised to find that it is more cheaper than the quote you are offered by an other insurance company. if you are not satisfied with that go and ring them up and question them about the quote, it is helpful becuase the more questions you ask the more you will know. directline is a good company and i reccommend it... ...Eaglestar.co.uk offers an online insurance quotation facility, not an email service as favoured by some providers. This allows you to check prices for a variety of cars, ans see the effect of varying the level of cover, named drivers etc. Eagle Star Direct offered the lowest quote for my VW Passat by around £50. The purchase experience was painless and documents were delivered promptly. One interesting feature was a small credit card sized copy of the insurance certificate which is apparently valid for renewing tax etc, and is a lot easier to carry around than the full insurance document. The cover includes roadside assistance and a discount is available if purchasing both home and motor insurance. One disadvantage is that there did not appear to be an option to pay the premium monthly in instalments.... Read review

...I took out my motor insurance with CIS as it was the cheapest quote - however after paying my first instalment by cheque to the agent (in June), the company kept failing to take any direct debits from me with the result that 3 payments were taken off in September - not on the 1st as stated but on the 29th. Their staff have been completely unhelpful and uncommunicative and I would not recommend them to anyone. The staff in the local office are the rudest I have come across and don't seem to pass on any information.... Read review

...Motor Insurance! We are bombarded with adverts and offers about it from all sides - T.V., newspapers, magazines, e-mail and snail mail! Do we need it? Of course! Apart from it being a legal requirement, often our cars are the biggest investments in our lives after a house. We need to protect the money we pour into them against that unfortunate day when we have an accident or even worse for some, when you come out of the shops laden with shopping to discover that your trusty steed is not where you parked it, it`s been nicked! In the worst case scenario, your vehicle is a write-off or is unrecoverable and the insurance company decide, eventually to pay you with a big fat cheque. ...When I received a quote for my car insurance in December I decided to shop around before accepting. I had received through the post a letter from Abbey National about the motor insurance they did,so I went onto their website for an instant quote to find they were quite substantially cheaper than my present insurance company. I phoned them up just to double check with them as I couldn't beleive the difference to what I was paying,and they told me it was exactly right. As soon as I came off the phone from them I got straight back onto their website and applied for their motor insurance.You see what they do is price check their insurances everyday just to make sure they are not being undercut,so the qoute they give you at the time you apply is only valid for that day. ...My dear wife has been with Churchill Insurance for her motor insurance for 4 years now. Initially when you choose an insurance company you do so on one premise – the quote. It is an understandable thing to do but I hope that Ciao will be able to build a comprehensive database which will help customers choose their insurance provider with more information with which to make their choice. Firstly that all-important quote. Like many people I’m sure we have many unprompted cards and letters delivered to us from insurance companies promising to make savings of 20% or that we will save £100 on our insurance if we choose them. I always ring around for a number of quotes but in each of the last 4 years Churchill have given the best quote. Now of course insurance companies do differ and some have specific areas of the insurance market... Read review

...Last night at 11:30pm I got my first ever experience of "paying bills in 'ma jim jams" - and I can tell you it IS a liberating experience. And FAST too! Searching for car insurance for a friends sister, myself and another stumbled around the web looking at whichever Motor Insurance companies Yahoo would throw up from the UK. When this didn't get us far we decided to think of some comapnies we knew and went straight to their websites. We wanted an online quote. Well of the four motor insurance websites from MAJOR companies... THREE shall remain nameless because they couldn't meet our need for an online quote. Whats the point of being online I say!
