...Go West Motorhomes are a Canadian motorhome rental company, although no one in Canada actually calls them "motorhomes" - they're known as "RVs", or "recreational vehicles". Go West have offices in Calagary, Vancouver and Toronto. They also sell RVs, but I'm assuming none of you are in the market for a new Canadian RV. We rented an RV from their Vancouver branch in British Columbia. -------------Website------------- Go West's websites are a little confusing. I personally found them and booked through www.motorhomesworldwide.com, which is, ironically, an Australian agency, although I didn't realise it at the time. Kay at his best!

Advantages: cheap

...Background --------------- Peter Kay has universal appeal. He can make everyone laugh ? even my grandma loves him! He grew up in an underprivilaged area of Birmingham (Read his autobiography, its great). His jokes, from stand up or TV series, are based on people and situations that everyone can relate to. Characters -------------- Max and paddy originate from Phonix Nights. This show was massively popular and led to the new spinoff. Max and Paddy were bouncers working the door at The Phoenix. Plot ----- Max (played by Peter Kay) and his sidekick, Paddy (Patrick McGuinness) leave The Phoenix Club and set off in a motorhome for 6 hilarious episodes. Advantages: Very good magazine.
Disadvantages: No page 3 girls.

..., and many more. They still do most of these of course. They also do the range of "Practical" magazines, like Practical Boat Owner, Practical Caravan and Practical Motorhome. Although the mag was basically set out like all the others, and the format was basically the same, there was something about this publication that made it so easy to read, you could work through it like reading a novel. The headquarters is in Kent Berwick House 8-10 Knoll Rise ORPINGTON KENT, London BR6 0EL I can't actualy check out the price for obvious reasons. I forget the number of pages, but you certainly got a lot for your money. You could also get the odd freebie - screw guage or rawlplugs etc. There were also competitions that you could enter for free....

Disadvantages: you`ll be up all night reading it

No Cannes Do

Funzo's Fantastical French Follying Adventures (the catchy name I gave my trip) had to take in Cannes. Driving along the south coast after a dissapointed day in the overcrowded, far too English resort of Nice, Cannes seemed an ideal box to tick and the 40ft Motorhome trundled laboriously along the picturesque if not scary coastal road that can take you from Monaco to Marseille with the sea never leaving your eyeline. ...This book has thriller scenes right from the beginning, on through the end. Non stop action, and a female hero, who saves the little girl. A psychotic killer has murdered her friends whole family, but does not know that she had come to visit for the weekend. She follows him around the dark house, finding victim after victim as she goes from room to room. She follows the killer out to his motorhome, and hides inside while he continues to plunder the house, then brings the body of her college roommate, and friend, out to the motorhome. A terrifying ride in the back bedroom of the motorhome, she finds that the windows have all been covered over with wood, and she cannot get out except for the door that leads into the front of the motorhome. ...* HI GORGEOUS Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie return for a third season of the popular 'Simple Life' television series after the huge success of the two prior, and once again there was an added twist to keep the show formula fresh. This season was dubbed 'Interns' as it saw the spoilt pair taking on two-day internships at various different employments, and instead of having their luxury motorhome to stay in, they would travel to each location by bus meaning that they had double the opportunity to annoy the general public around them. This would not be the million dollar heiresses show without some catchphrases to help sell the series, and with the now dated that's hot, we saw them calling each other 'sil' and 'bil', short for silly and billy of course. Even their dogs that accompanied them on the journey had their own nicknames...

One for the DVD Player

Advantages: A different take on a musician on the road, amusing and touching

...scene in the USA back in the 1980s and this documentary features Tilbrook's first solo tour of the country back in 2001 with a team of just 3 other people - his partner Suzanne, a cameraman and producer/director Amy Pickard. Pickard is a long-time Squeeze fan from Ohio and in this charming documentary she films Tilbook tour the US from coast to coast, predominantly in an ageing and unreliable RV (motorhome), another money saving device on this cut price tour. It is a revelation to see a highly successful and talented musician such as Tilbrook doing a tour such as this - but of course this is the reality for many musicians once the limos have gone and corporate record labels stop paying all the bills. The Film The film starts in Buffalo, New York, with the news that the RV they had planned to commence the tour in is unavailable...
