Walkabout with a Talkabout
Advantages: No Call Charges, Call signal, Scan function
Disadvantages: Price
...I have become so reliant on mobile phones over the last few years that the thought of going somewhere without coverage almost starts a panic. But there is a solution.
Over the last few years personal radios, more commonly known as "walkie-talkies", have been quietly improving, much the same as mobile phones. At the top of the current evolutionary tree is the Motorola Talkabout t6222 and it was a pair of these that a group of friends and I took on a recent holiday in the Lake District.
In the box that each handset comes in (you have to buy them seperately), you get a handset, manual and belt-clip. the manual can only be described as 'brief', telling you the bare minimum you need to get up and running with precious little detail on anything else. Fortunately the handsets are intuitive and easy to use, which goes some way towards...

Motorola T4502 Two-Way Radios
Advantages: Small, lightweight, easy to use.
Disadvantages: Uses 3 AAA batteries per radio, instead of a rechargable 'battery pack'.
...WARNING! -- LONG REVIEW!! -- YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
~ Alternative title (that I wanted to use) ~
Motorola (from the makers of the V3 RAZR mobile phone) T4502 (Tiny4502???) 8-channel (or 8-frequency) PMR (Professional / Personal Mobile Radio). [It's too long for the box -- LoL!]
Wow, what a great little two-way radio!
I've had my Nectar Card for a good while and I am also a member of a survey company called "TNS" who award points for completing surveys and you can link your "TNS" account to your Nectar Card then get your TNS points automatically transferred into Nectar Points.
Recently the Nectar website (Nectar.com) did a 'Summer of Rewards' promotion where a handful of electrical goods were on sale (!! HALF PRICE !!) for a certain amount of Nectar Points. I saw that they had a two-pack (well I'm sure they had many two...

WALKABOUT WITH THE TALKABOUT
Advantages: STRONG AND DURABLE
Disadvantages: ONLY 3KM RANGE (BUT AS PER ANY PMR)
...theses they will generally just bounce (exceptional circumstances may destroy this theory and the units) but still be in perfect working order and probably won?t even turn off from the shock of the impact.
RECEPTION QUALITY
Some radio?s I?ve used give a very scratchy reception but I find that these give a very good clear reception. When batteries are very low you may find a bit of drop off as your power goes down and the distance drops a bit but generally you will find the reception is excellent. As per most manufacturer?s Motorola claim around the 2 to 3 km mark for usable distance. In realistic terms you may get this if you have direct line of sight in the middle of nowhere, however for the general population who live in a town or city and that is where they will use them you will find the range is down to around half a mile to a mile...

The Energizer Battery Charger
Advantages: Good value for money
Disadvantages: Takes a long time to charge batteries
...I had been intending to purchase a battery charger for quite a while. In fact I had even dropped hints to certain family members around Christmas time, but to no avail. I was recently reminded of this missing piece of equipment in my life when I rediscovered the PC lead to my digital camera. Remembering that a pair of standard batteries lasted for only about 30 photos in this camera I decided that it was certainly time to invest in a battery charger and some rechargeable batteries.
I purchased an Energizer CHDCW8 ? 4 battery charger from Argos for just £9.99. This decision was based on several factors, the most important of which was the price and what I considered to be the best value for money. The design also played a part in my decision process, but in the end it was the price/value that were the strongest influencing factors...

A quality robust 446 Radio from Motorola
Advantages: Robust, User Friendly, Good features
Disadvantages: Fairly expensive, no vibrate, expensive accessories
...Motorola T5512
Overview
The Motorola T5512/22 is a short-range two-way radio, which operates on the PMR446 frequency giving 'up to 3km'. These radios can be used across Europe and are an ideal way to keep in contact with friends, family and colleagues for a range of activities. These radios are at home with Sports Centers, Skiing Holidays, Building Sites, Family Holidays and more.
The 5512 are available singularly or as a double pack in blue. For approx. £10 more however the 5522 comes with NiCd batteries and charging pods ? well worth the extra and comes in black. I have the latter but all the features are identical except for the colour.
A set of T5522's including charging pods and batteries can be had for around £80, this compared with a cost of £60 for the BT Freeways (with charger and ptt headset) and around £60...

Motorola T2288e
Advantages: Nice looking, not too heavy
Disadvantages: Bad menu design
...I have to say that I’m not overly impressed by this mobile phone. Don’t get me wrong, it looks nice and actually feels quite comfortable in the hand, but the software design within is dreadful.
Where I work, ringing mobile phones are forbidden in the office, so I have the ringing tone on silent during the day. This means that I miss most of my calls during the day. As you’d expect, there is a message on screen to say that I’ve missed a call. Great! But what I’d expect as standard does not happen. If you miss a call and are being told so, you would expect to be able to press a button and see the missed call details. I can’t say whether this is true of all phones, but it is true for all mobiles ever owned by me, my family or my friends.
So what does the Motorola T2288e do? Nothing...

Motorola has done it again!
Advantages: It actually works, compared to other Phones
Disadvantages: Some would not appeal to it, as it doesn't have a large bright colour screen!
...After two years without my previous mobile phone, I started to look around for another phone. I was looking for something cheap, something simple, and after seeing and playing with other on the market colour phones, this phone seemed like a godsend. I brought this phone of Amazon, for only £29.99, not including postage or packaging. The phone came with all of the other features that other phones do, apart from one thing, it didn?t have annoying polyphonic ringtones, colour screen and it didn?t break every time that I needed to use it.
The simple to use menu system that go me going on the phone for hours consisted of around ten sub menus. The system for phoning people was easy to use, simple and worked every time. Texting on this phone is easy, even with the built in I-Tap mode, which is Motorola?s version of predictive texting. I...

Motorola T2288, I missed this phone
Advantages: Simplicity of use, very durable and the size factor
Disadvantages: Quite lacking features by today's (April 2006) standards
...Thanks for a consumer site like this that enables us to pour out our sentiments on consumer products. Speaking of sentimental value, the Motorola T2288 was actually my 2nd GSM phone (many analog ones before that) purchased circa 2001 but unfortunately lost it in mid-2004.
If I had my way I would still be using it once in a while (I owned a Sony-Ericsson T230 briefly for almost 1 year--its not so easy to use--and currently am settled using a Panasonic X100 to try out new 'technologies' like a camera, polyphonic etc.). The T2288 wasn't top of the line for sure but I can attest to its durability, the Motorola way, when I accidentally dropped it to the floor a dozen times. My Nokia 3210 previously didn't even come close at least to that respect.
It's easy to use and I liked the idea that I'm gripping a medium sized phone...

Super Sony charger
Advantages: Fast Charge, Auto CutOff
Disadvantages: Only takes AA/AAA
...Getting fed up with constantly having to buy new batteries for our Wii remotes, we started looking into buying some of the rechargeable battery packs you can buy for them. I read a few reviews and decided that it would probably be better to buy a battery charger and a few sets of batteries instead.
After looking around I found the Sony High Capacity Super Quick Charger For AA And AAA Batteries and for £16.99 with four AA batteries included it seemed like a good deal, almost all of our electrical items seem to be Sony so with it being a brand we trusted I bought it.
The charger itself is fairly compact measuring 4" x 2½" x 1" (not including the power lead) it won't take up a lot of room, the power lead is also removable so you can store it away quite easily. The lead is also the same as the other Sony leads we have so if it gets...

Review of Sony Super Quick Charger BCG34HE4 - Battery charger 4xAA/AAA - included batteries: 4 x AA type NiMH 2500 mAh

the intelligent battery charger.
Advantages: Cheap, reliable, long lasting, reasonable price.
Disadvantages: Still gets warm. Plastic plug = breakable?
...---THE PRODUCT---
Definately glad to be an owner of one of these chargers, even though they seem quite pricey, the batteries are great as they are reusable, and you don't waste money on purchasing darn AA batteries, again and again. It's easy to use, don't take hours to charge like the previous models which took around 8 hours and meant that you had to leave it on over night, worrying that it would heat up and catch the house on fire.
I wouldn't be without this, endlessly purchasing batteries for items. Furthermore you can't use ordinary batteries in Digital Camera's as they are drained after you've took three photo's with the flash on. These therefore are robust and useful in the long run and will save you money and time.
---MODEL---
The model number is. RC104318 It's full charge happens in about 90 minutes, however I...
