The Stylish and Sexy U9

Advantages: Gorgeous, fashionable, stylish, easy to use
Disadvantages: A bit slow sometimes, ringtones aren't great

...Before I start this review, I should say that the U9 is my first new phone in over three years. This is something pretty major for me as I was very attached to my old phone - it might have been old and basic but it offered everything I needed, and I found that most newer phones were either ugly or had the exact same (or worse) specifications than my old phone did - which was pretty surprising for one that was so old! The fact that I *FINALLY* chose to upgrade is a pretty good sign as to just how good the U9 is. The U9 is almost certainly a girls phone. Your colour choices are either pink or purple - the pink designed for 'party girls', and the purple for those that like luxury. The outer appearance of the phone is fantastic. ...I bought the Motorola U6 Pebl on a bit of a whim - I liked the colour, and the range of features looked impressive. Admittedly it is likely that 2-by-4 would have had more features than my last phone but that is somewhat beside the point. I got my phone from Virgin - and due to a members offer managed to pick this phone up for the princely sum of £50 (not bad as the retail price is some £70 more than that). It is a good looking phone, with a reasonable camera and videophone option, bluetooth (inc the option of a colour coordinated headset), GPRS and triband and a variety of other interesting little nicknacks. Advantages: Very slim and stylish
Disadvantages: Browsing files makes it very slow.

...The Samsung U600 is the slimmest slide phone, even slimmer than the trendy D900 which is now replaced by u600. I bought mine for 85 pounds which is a dark blue colour. It has an amazing 3.2 mega pixel camera if you look how thin the phone is, with flash and 4x digital zoom. If you take a picture of a business card it recognizes all the field and enter them automatically, this is a new feature. It also records videos in mp4 format and the maximum video size is 352 x 240 which is good. It has a 2.2 inch TFT 262k colour screen which has great graphics because I downloaded 'Horton hears a who', converted it into MP4 format and saved it on my phone to see if it works and it worked. The movie has exactly the same size as the phone screen and has very good graphics. I also downloaded a trailer and when I played on my phone it looks...

Advantages: pretty, feels nice, the screen on the cover, camera OK
Disadvantages: silly text input, poor battery life, interface not brilliant, can't use while charging

...yes, I did format it properly when first received): in fact, it doesn't last more than three days with no use at all. It's also immensely annoying that you can't use the phone while it's plugged into the charger: this is the first ever phone like that, and I just can't understand why they would introduce such a limitation. Interface This is probably more of a general Motorola thing than something specific to U9, but I am not that enamoured with the interface. I would like to be able to have more items than just four on the home screen, and I would like to be able to have low-level menu entries there (e.g. the calculator, not just "office tools"). It should also be possible to assign the side keys to all functions, not just a limited number of them, and the same for the two "home" keys above the red and green handset ones...

Samsung U600

Advantages: Looks good, easy to use

...I got this phone about 11 months ago on an upgrade with T Mobile. I had no idea what phone I wanted but when I explained the functions that I needed, the Samsung U600 was suggested to me. It is a nice looking phone, grey, small and thin, you can carry it in your pocket without it being too bulky. It is a slide phone with a large screen. The number buttons are under the screen and are displayed when you slide the phone down. The menu and call and hang up buttons are touch screen. To describe some of the features that the phone has- Camera- It has a 3.2 mega pixel camera which is very good quaility, however it annoys me how it takes a while for the camera to capture the picture before it actually takes it.
