My Moulinex manual mixer
Review of Moulinex Supermix 150 compact by  Kukana

Advantages: Inexpensive, comfortable grip, effective, long-lasting
Disadvantages: Slight difficulty cleaning vents

...I bought my Moulinex hand-mixer around five years ago, for about £10. Previously I had had larger mixers, the kind that come with a stand and a bowl. However I had found some distinct disadvantages with this type of mixer: for one thing, they either take up a great deal of space on the kitchen work surfaces, or get packed away in a cupboard and then it's a nuisance to get them out. Then there's the problem that only one bowl (that supplied with the mixer) will fit the base, so if I wanted to mix two or three things in separate bowls, I had to keep decanting what was already mixed, and cleaning the bowl out. And if the bowl breaks, the mixer becomes useless, unless you can find a replacement. With some mixers it's possible to remove the main mechanism from the stand, and use it as a hand-held one, but I never found that this worked... Read review

Moulinex multi moulinette - Kitchen magic!!
Review of Moulinex T71(01)/ AT71P1 by  sierraxstitch

Advantages: Simple to use, value for money.
Disadvantages: can omly take small quantities.

...I have owned a moulinex multi moulinette (AT71) for several years and would say it was the most useful kitchen gadget I have ever owned. It is small compact gadget which takes very little space. I use it for all my chopping and blending jobs when preparing food. It holds up to 0.5 litre of fluid, up to 16oz dry ingredients or aprox 2 cups. Great for making breadcrumbs for your gratins, chopping vegetables, making savoury spreads, pureeing fruit, blending soup or I even use mine for grating cheese! It is extremely simple to use literally a press of a button, and as all ingredients are in a sealed bowl there is no mess from splashing etc.. It is easy to clean afterwards as all 3 parts (except for the electrical unit!) can be dishwashed or immersed in warm soapy water for cleaning. I have recently replaced my multi moulinette for around £30... Read review

Sensual Ironing
Review of Tefal Integral Iron by  assethound

Advantages: Glides smoothly, can iron delicates using steam, good performance on a wide range of fabrics
Disadvantages: Could be too expensive for some

...Two years ago I bought a Tefal Integral 2045 all fabrics steam iron. With this purchase my life moved several miles closer to the leafy but stifling suburbs of Stepford. Here is the story of the iron... Buying a new iron is not exactly the highlight of my life - yet, but it is a necessary evil. The iron I had been using for the last few years looked me in the face once too often yesterday, sneering past its frayed and grubby cord, past the numerous sticky repairs made with electricians tape along its all too short 2 metre length. I turned it over and examined the sole plate, covered in scratches and blackened gunk, melted off the surface of clothes subjected to its searing and all too unpredictable heat. It had to go - and fast. Off we went to Curry’s, the journey there teaching me a lot about the power of TV advertising... Read review

The ultimate iron-y?
Review of Hinari Lifestyle Iron by  steffiw

Advantages: Cheap! Effective. Self-clean feature
Disadvantages: Tricky to fill.

...Ironing is the work of the devil. I should be better organised and buy the kind of clothes that don’t need to be ironed, but I’m just not a polyester-and-Teflon kinda gal. So the iron, my personal instrument of torture, is a necessary evil. My last iron – a hideously expensive Phillips Elance with more bells and whistles than a Morris Dancer – gave up the ghost after just two years’ service. Funnily enough, my 15-year-old ironing board died in the same week – it did the splits and refused to get back up. So, I hit the Argos catalogue and picked out a Morphy Richards iron for £27 and a new ironing board for £17. Of course, I didn’t reckon on my sister, bargain hunter extraordinaire. She led me to In-Store (formerly Poundstretcher) where I stretched my pound almost to breaking point! Despite my initial reservations about... Read review

Morphy Richards Turbosteam iron
Review of Morphy Richards Turbosteam 40660 Iron by  cornishman30

Advantages: Easy to use, good grip, good quality
Disadvantages: Not cordless

...Our iron packed up over Christmas, we have previously used Morphy Richards stuff because we have found them to be reliable and do a suitable job whoever gets the short straw and has to do the ironing! Since this is my 1st review of 2006, my girlfriend has been given the all important job of testing out this new little puppy. Today being bank holiday Monday, we thought it was safe enough to explore the outside world again and hey ho hey ho it's off to Asda we go!! (I know a song about that!). Why o why don't Asda put irons with the electrical stuff? we searched for ages but eventually was told they were in isle 19! (Shame on us for not knowing!). There was a fair choice, from shop brands for the super dooper cordless models. I managed to fend the girlfriend from going down this avenue! I'm sure that one day we will opt... Read review

I hate ironing - or do I
Review of Morphy Richards Comfi-grip Professional 42400 Iron by  Gwenick

Advantages: shot of steam, no drip system, variable steam
Disadvantages: no non-stick soleplate or anti-scale system

...Baby Gro's, baby vests, baby trousers, baby tops, baby shirts, husbands shirts, husbands trousers, husbands T-shirts, oh yes and don't forget all my clothes. Sound familiar to anyone, if you've got children then it probably does. Iron can be such a drag, can't it? I'd always hated it, it was my most dreaded household chore. I put it off until the basket was so full with clothes that I simply HAD to get some done. Then everything changed. My husband bought me the Morphy Richards Comfi-grip Professional, the main reason being that it was white and green (I have a thing about the colour green at the moment). The temperature control dial is very easy to use with a shaded area for the temperature range where the steam can be used and filling the water tank is done at the top of the iron. From the moment I first used this ironing I actually... Read review

Speedy Ironing
Review of JML Fast Fit Ironing Board Cover by  sweetdaisy

Advantages: cover reflects heat, irons out creases quickly, thick underlay, washable
Disadvantages: can take a while to fit cover snuggly (without creases)

...Cleaning is something that I don't mind doing as I like things to be in it's place and try to keep on top of things. This means that there's no need to spend the whole of my weekends cleaning, leaving me to do the things that I want when I'm not in work. There is one task however that I hate and that is ironing. For some it is therapeutic, or something to do when watching TV, but for me it is the one job that I find a chore and I hate it so much I even prefer cleaning the oven to ironing! My ironing board is years old and I have never changed the cover. I didn't realise how thin the cover had become until I took the old cover off and thought that this had something to do with why I have to spend such a long time ironing the creases out of my clothes. I was persuaded by the TV advert for the JML Fast Fit Ironing Board Cover, so... Read review

Review of Morphy Richards Comfi-grip Professional 42400 Iron by  allissa

Advantages: Ironed clothes ultra steam

...Who likes ironing? Well not me for sure. A little background why I have a new iron. Last year me and my hubby went on holiday abroad, And my husband had the iron in is suitcase. And you can imagine the iron got broke on the first day of the holiday when arrived at the Airport.. Yes thats right it got broke at the luggage department.. No we havent been walking around with creased clothes I bought a cheap one when we got back. The cheap iron was that cheap and useless. Well I am writing a good review on my new iron. Iron out the difficulties of Flying Solo
Review of Tefal 1690 Ultraglide Cordless Iron by  JonTheTree

Advantages: Cordless Joy
Disadvantages: How much? What for an Iron!

...Well as a bloke who’s attitude towards ironing is ‘’if it needs ironing don’t buy it ‘’ who am I to write a review on an iron but maybe an unbiased view wouldn’t be too bad a thing. I did own an iron once when I was living on my own but sold it to a mate for a couple of pints but now my partner and I have moved in together with her two school children apparently an iron is a must have item. We borrowed one for a while (no not the one that I’d exchanged for two pints of Harveys Best) but Lisa (the Mrs) soon seemed to get fed up with the cord trailing about and when the time came that we really felt that she had borrowed it iron for long enough, of she trotted into the local electricians and came back happy as Larry cos shed managed to get a cordless jobbie. As far as she can remember it was £56 and that was from a high street independent... Read review
