My Moulinex manual mixer
Advantages: Inexpensive, comfortable grip, effective, long-lasting
Disadvantages: Slight difficulty cleaning vents
...I bought my Moulinex hand-mixer around five years ago, for about £10. Previously I had had larger mixers, the kind that come with a stand and a bowl. However I had found some distinct disadvantages with this type of mixer: for one thing, they either take up a great deal of space on the kitchen work surfaces, or get packed away in a cupboard and then it's a nuisance to get them out. Then there's the problem that only one bowl (that supplied with the mixer) will fit the base, so if I wanted to mix two or three things in separate bowls, I had to keep decanting what was already mixed, and cleaning the bowl out. And if the bowl breaks, the mixer becomes useless, unless you can find a replacement. With some mixers it's possible to remove the main mechanism from the stand, and use it as a hand-held one, but I never found that this worked...

Moulinex multi moulinette - Kitchen magic!!
Advantages: Simple to use, value for money.
Disadvantages: can omly take small quantities.
...I have owned a moulinex multi moulinette (AT71) for several years and would say it was the most useful kitchen gadget I have ever owned. It is small compact gadget which takes very little space. I use it for all my chopping and blending jobs when preparing food. It holds up to 0.5 litre of fluid, up to 16oz dry ingredients or aprox 2 cups. Great for making breadcrumbs for your gratins, chopping vegetables, making savoury spreads, pureeing fruit, blending soup or I even use mine for grating cheese! It is extremely simple to use literally a press of a button, and as all ingredients are in a sealed bowl there is no mess from splashing etc.. It is easy to clean afterwards as all 3 parts (except for the electrical unit!) can be dishwashed or immersed in warm soapy water for cleaning.
I have recently replaced my multi moulinette for around £30...

A cheap little toaster
Advantages: White, plain basic toaster
Disadvantages: Doesn't look stylish
...This toaster is perfect for those people who favour functionality over looks. It's a very basic, cheap toaster that does the job just as well as any other expensive toaster.
It looks quite nice. It's white plastic on the outside and is capable of toasting two slices of bread at the same time.
On the front of the toaster there is a white plastic dial which is used to set the timer of the toaster. It goes from setting 6 that will keep the bread in the toaster for longer and you will get very burnt toast to setting 1 which hardly cooks the bread. I have the setting on number 4 as this is the perfect cooking time for my toast. It produces it all golden brown.
Underneath the dial, there is a cancel button so if you have selected a higher setting than you wanted you can pop the toast up before it has finished cooking by pressing this...

A Toast to My Toaster
Advantages: Takes thick slices / crumpets / bagels etc, high lift, cool wall, easy to remove crumb tray, reheat button, warming rack
Disadvantages: Fairly short cable may cause some people a problem?
...There didn't seem to be much wrong with my old toaster... it did the job... well, to a fashion - it turned bread into toast (ok, so it was always dark at the edges and pale in the middle, but it was toast). There didn't seem to be any reason to change my old toaster, until a Tradex leaflet popped through the door promoting their special offers - included amongst these was the Morphy Richards Europa toaster at only £14.99 - seemed like a good price and worth a look.
The toaster itself is granite in colour (kind of dark grey with tiny sparkly flecks in that only show up in certain light), however it is also available in white. It is the traditional toaster shape, in that it fits four slices in two chambers (two slices side by side in each). On the front of the toaster, in the bottom right hand corner are the control dial...

The Best Toaster in the World
Advantages: Perfect toast every time - very reliable
Disadvantages: Bulky and quite expensive
...Dualit have been producing toasters since 1946 and now they have the reputation for being the best in the world. They are expensive but I think they are worth it.
These toasters don’t come cheap. The best price I have found on the internet for a 2 slice toaster is £90 or £110 for the stainless one (from www.ogormans.co.uk – Kelkoo didn’t come up with anything). It is possible to buy a toaster for under £10 so you might wonder why anyone would be willing to spend £100 on one.
One reason people might want to do so is because they are fashionable at the moment. These classic cumbersome stainless steel toasters grace the kitchens of the great and famous and appear frequently in film set kitchens – I came across a whole list of films featuring Dualit toasters somewhere on the net but I have no idea why anyone...

The Rolls-Royce of toasters
Advantages: It's idiot-proof!
Disadvantages: I'm a clever idiot!
...I would never admit it to anyone else but you, but it was my own fault we had to buy a new pop-up toaster every couple of years. You see, I love toasted tea-cake, and it?s uneconomical to put the grill on for a toasted tea-cake, isn?t it? I knew you?d agree. So I put them in the pop-up toaster. A burnt currant is like cement, and a couple of those in the springs and the toaster was not so much pop-up as caput.
Finally my husband had had enough. ?We?re getting a Dualit? he said. It took me a moment to catch up with him as I thought he was talking about metal polish, and I was still toying with the thought of him polishing the brass when he told me the cost. ?£169? I screeched. ?No way?. (Actually they?re one of the few things that have actually gone down in price over the last few years. You can get them for £159 now...

Kenwood 2-Slice Toaster TT350 - A Review
Advantages: Fair price. Defrost and reheat functions. Overheating protection.
Disadvantages: A bit bulky, warming rack seems a little pointless.
...I bought this toaster when I refitted my kitchen a few years back, and it has served me well. If you are considering buying it, though, there are a few things you should know...
The Kenwood 2-Slice Toaster with Warming Rack TT350 (White) is Just Like Your Average Toaster..
Put in bread, push down handle, toast pops out. Simple.
...But a Little Bit Nifty...
The Kenwood 2-Slice Toaster with Warming Rack TT350 (White) has a few notable features that you might not find on a standard toaster:
*Brownness dial - you rotate it to adjust the darkness of your slice (or in my case, what shade of burnt you...

Classy Breville Classique Toaster
Advantages: Looks great, toasts well
Disadvantages: A bit expensive, large 'footprint'
...With monotonous regularity our toasters ‘die’ every two years. The last one was no different, having ejected 4 slices of toast most mornings for its brief life. If the white goods industry goes for a 5-year cycle of obsolescence by catastrophic failure of key components, someone forgot to tell the toaster people.
In a bizarre coincidence, like all the buses coming along at the same time, the iron joined the queue for replacement having been with us for a commendable 15 years or so.
We shopped at Scottish Power and Curry’s in Perth but at the end of the day Curry’s had the best choice.
It is of no use whatsoever if we have a 2-slice toaster due to my wife and I wanting a slice, then as soon as the bread’s in and cooking the two boys want to join in.
Appearance
So the Breville caught our...

An (unintentionally) illuminating toaster!
Advantages: Attractive, high lift, easy browning controls, holds bread firmly
Disadvantages: Won't toast a whole slice, alarming blue flash on toast popup
...Although I'd had a cheap toaster for a while it was very rarely used because I had a gas oven and grill and we always used that to toast anything other that sliced bread. Crumpets etc went on the grill and came out beautifully. The purchase of my first electric oven soon put paid to that due to the time required to heat the element. A toaster that was capable of a range of baked goods was necessary and the Tefal Avanti looked like it was up to the job.
This is a big toaster with slots that look wider and deeper than the average. It has a futuristic appearance and plenty of buttons and knobs on the front to make it seem that toasting is a complicated task. There's a high lift button for teacakes, crumpets and other things that sit lower in the slot, there's a stop button if you notice smoke emerging and the usual browning control...

Hinari Lifestyle Toaster
Advantages: Low price, basic and makes great toast
Disadvantages: Not very stylish to look at
...This toaster is very functional but not all that stylish in the looks department.
It's made of white plastic on the outside and is a 2 slice toaster.
There are 6 different variable browning control settings so you can adjust it to however you like your toast best. The slots are quite wide so it will take bread of varying widths which is very handy especially if you use uncut loaves or like door-stop size wedges of toast.
The toaster is easy to clean, with a slide-out crumb tray underneath.. The cable is long enough to plug it in with ease. The sides of the toaster are what is known as cool wall which means that you won't get burnt if you touch them even if you have just used the toaster.
This toaster is ideal for anyone on a budget and is just as good and effective as other more expensive models. I bought it...
