The main problem which I find with this site is that it is simply so huge. There are literally thousands of mp3s on here by numerous artists and trawling through the chaff to reach the corn is something of a life-shortening experience. Sadly it is moe likely that you will prefer to use something like Napster and find the files by artists you already know and like rather than seeking out ones you have never heard of at mp3.com.
Overall, a great idea and a site which is easy to use and navigate, but the easy option is always best so unless you have...

...I don't have an ipod, I am very happy with my MP3 player and don't plan to buy an ipod. All of my music is organised in Windows Media Player,and I wanted to keep it that way. I didn't want to mess up my carefully organised system, but I really wanted to start downloading music (without doing so illegally). I didn't want the itunes or napster programs on my computer, then I discoverend Amazon MP3 music download.
Most importantly - Amazon MP3s are DRM free.
DRM (digital rights management) found on itunes and napster tracks, involve software that restricts the tracks being played to the computer they were originally purchased on (and 2 or 3 nominated computers that also have naptster / itunes installed). DRM prevent you sharing your music with your friends and you can even lose it altogether if your computer dies. Amazon MP3 files...

Yes, free mp3 music, almost ? and I?m not talking about file sharing either. As far as the old Napster is concerned ? been there, done that, got the virus?
No, I?ve had my fill of queues, misnamed and incomplete files, adware, Trojans and other assorted malicious code from these sites.
I?m not talking about over-commercialised sites either, where you?re expected to pay 99p for a track. For an album (in mp3 format, which is not as good as audio CD), you can pay as much as you would in the High Street ? and you don?t even get the CD, the jewel case or the sleeve notes to keep.
I?m talking about a little-known Russian (so far!) music download site, (there are actually three sites I use, which are all very very cheap, but this one beats them all in price if not for scope, and which I?ve been using...

...I recently went to use my personal CD player and to my disappointment it was broken. Anyhow I decided it was time to give up the ghost and buy myself something new. I grabbed the Argos catalogue and had a browse and spotted a cheap little 1 GB MP3 Player and as I have just added all my CD collection onto my hard drive a short while ago I thought this would be ideal.
The MP3 player made by a company called iitronics who have their own website www.iitronics.com . The model that I purchased was the IMP-65 Portable WMA/MP3 player. It can hold up to 1024MB of data and has a built in microphone.
The packaging was very good and it included some basic earphones, a USB cable, an AAA battery and a CD driver disc. There was also Warranty card and a user manual.

...mp3.com is one of the best music sites that I've ever been to. The huge number of downloadable mp3's can probably not be beaten. It doesn't seem to contain many bands / singers blah blah blah whatever, that I have ever heard of, but the ones that it does have, are sometimes quite amazing. The best feature of the site is the endless lists of top 40's (they go right back in to the 1000's actually), with a chart dedicated to each different genre (of which there are hundreds). With so many choices, so many thousand songs to pick from to download, these individual charts give a rough representation of which are the best. They also give a worldwide opinion and not just a localised view.
The sites search facility is very easy to use, and quite often comes up with exactly what you're looking for (if its there). Before fully downloading...

...Wow!!! This site is unbelievable. If you want MP3's then this is the place to go. It has everything that you could possibly want on an MP3 site. Its got just about every song you could ever want to listen to and it is all free!!!
The site covers every type of music from alternative to Jazz, From Hip hop to classical, from comedy to easy listening and has a chart for each type of music showing the popularity of each artist.
The images on the site are nothing special but all the links to other parts of the site are very clear and the service is extremely easy to use.
The site even has the option of it appearing in other languages (French, German, Spanish and Japanese) which can be accessed through the click of a mouse button.
There is a shop which sells CD's, music merchandise, gifts such as beauty products, MP3 hardware musicians...
