There's a Mr Bean in all of us...?
Advantages: fantastic humour and sidesplitting laughter
Disadvantages: None.. unless you don't like Bean
...Creator: Rowan Atkinson and Richard Curtis.
Writers: Rowan Atkinson, Robin Driscoll, Richard Curtis and Ben Elton.
Stars: Rowan Atkinson.
Released in early 1990 until mid 1996, creating 14 half hour shows starring Rowan as a bumbling idiot who simply stumbles through life? usually at the expense of others.
Mr Bean is the brain child of Atkinson, though of whilst studying at Oxford University? performing a few quick sketches at the Edinburgh fringe in early 1980.
It is a simple format with very few characters involved? although each character and each 'prop' has a vital role in the creation and administration of the comical genius which is Rowan Atkinson's Mr Bean.
* THE MAIN CHARACTERS:
* Mr Bean himself?
Mr Bean, (having no first name) is a very slow minded person who can be somewhat selfish at times...

Mr Bean - Live Action DVD
Advantages: hilarious, Atkinson is a comedy genius
Disadvantages: only 3 episodes, expensive way to get the whole set
...Having only made 13 episodes you would think it would be easy enough to release the wholebox set as a complete and more cost effective production. But no, because we are english, we are 'rich' and can afford to splash out on the indivual DVD's, and of course we can wait whilst each is brought out at two month intervals. However if you live in america you get one whole box set, straight away, and before we even get our measly volume one with only 3 episodes on it. Arrgh. Appologies for the rant, but it's a good introduction as to why I have had to review one volume at a time. I do hope you enjoy reading about it.
As I'm sure the name Mr Bean will ring bells striaght away. He's the clumsy whimsical character which delighted so many with his mishaps in the 90's. I had to buy this as soon as I knew it was released. I love Mr Bean...

Mr Bean - Vol. 2 DVD
Advantages: Hilarious comedy, good viewing
Disadvantages: only 3 episodes, expensive to buy whole set individually
...Another installement to my DVD collection - the epic and classic comedy hero - Mr Bean. I love Rowan Atkinson, especially in Black Adder and also in the classic Mr Bean episodes. Despite my mood before hand, after watching Mr Bean I always feel much better, he always manages to intrigue my imagination with his biazarre mannerisms and abilty to turn the most straight forward of tasks into complete disaters!
Having not being able to buy the whollebox set I have had to purchase and review each DVD volume one by one.
This DVD contains 3 episodes, each with 3 or 4 sketches in them. All of whihc are brilliant and this DVD includes one of my favourites - the one where he goes to the swimming pool and clings to the diving board. The three episodes are entitled: Episode 1. 'The Curse Of Mr Bean', Episode 2. 'Mr Bean Goes To Town...

Mr Beans Disaster!!
Advantages: Funny, Really Good
Disadvantages: No Teddy
...Mr Beans Holiday
I had to go and see this film in the cinema, Mr Bean. I was brought up with him on TV every Friday night. And I loved him found him hilarious.
I got a couple of bad reviews from a few people about the film before I made it to the cinema which almost changed my mind about going ? But? I went despite the fact of the bad reviews.
The Story
Mr Bean wins a holiday to the south of France, and also is given a video camera to record his trip and to have memories.
So off he goes? on his travels he ends up separating a father and son, by asking the father Emil to come outside the train to video record bean getting on the train. After bean takes the camera off the father and steps on the train the doors close leaving the father outside.
So bean has to try and get these two back together?..
The father tells...

Mr Bean - The Animated Series - Vol. 1 DVD
Advantages: distracts the children
Disadvantages: not funny, humour very simple and mostly slapstick or toilet houmour.
...I'm quite surprised to learn that some people atually like the animated series of Mr Bean, and find it just as entertaining, if not more appealing than the 'proper' Mr Bean.
When I refer to proper Mr Bean I am of course talking about Rowna Atkinson's smash hit comedy sitcom in the 90's which followed a dry and whimsical character make a complete mess of very simple everyday activities like a trip to the swimming pool, parking his car, or visiting the cinema.
Personally I love the original Mr Bean, although some detest his bumbling foolish nature, I find him entertaining on a unique scale. Maybe it's because a part of me feels sorry for him or that in some cercumstances it is really quite ingenuis how you can get make some of the simplest tasks a complete disaster.
However the animated series proved to be a complete let down...

Mr Bean Animated Series - Vol.4 DVD
Advantages: Cartoon entertainment for kids
Disadvantages: not as funny as the original, bad graphics, poor comedy
...As I am sure most of you will know straight away who I mean when I mention the name Mr Bean. He's the love him or hate him guy played by Rowan Atkinson - as was his adopted comedy project after he finished doing Black Adder in the 80's.
However if you're not aware of who he is I'll give a brief break down. Mr Bean is a 40-50 year old man who lives alone and dresses in a shirt and tie, complete with tweed jacket everyday dispite the day, month or occassion. The only time he wears anything different is when he goes for a bath, a swim, or to bed when he wears his long PJ's which feature Teddy. Mr Bean also mumbles and bumbles his way through life. Which, in the first and original clips done by Rowan, made humourous incidents out of quite mundane things like going to the dentist, packing for a trip, or attending church were transformed...

BEAN!
Advantages: A few good scenes
Disadvantages: Where's the holiday?
...There's something about Mr. Bean that is very family friendly, I suppose it could be down to the most violent thing he has ever done is slam his yellow mini door or cut off someones poney tail in a hairdressing mix-up, or it could just be that the silent character brings everyone together in a humerous fashion. I sat down to watch Mr Bean's Holiday the other weekend, and as I was much younger when I saw his first Hollywood outing I wasn't sure what to expect - I remember liking the first movie, and if the movie saw a combination of some of his greatest sketches then it should have been a big hit for me. With my mum coming in and out of the room every now and again, it was interesting to get a diverse view of how older viewers found the movie and how me, perhaps someone growing up too quickly, found the movie as someone in their late...
