Advent 4211c (re-branded MSI Wind)

Advantages: Cheap and easy to use
Disadvantages: No optical drive,battery not amazing

...The Advent 4211 is an often overlooked re-branded version of the MSI Wind. It is powered by the Intel Atom 1.6GHZ processor and has 1GB RAM as standard which I upgraded to 2GB. My version has the 80GB hard drive which is plenty of space for me. I find the 10.2in monitor just big enough to be comfortable and wouldn't recommend going for any Netbooks with 8in monitors as they would be a little small. It runs a cut down version of XP Home with ease and can cope with most general office type tasks with no problem. There is no optical drive so I purchased a very cheap CD drive which is fine if the Advent is a secondary laptop. I would recommend buying a more expensive optical drive if you don't have access to another laptop. The biggest problem I had with the Advent was when I crashed it. Excellent value netbook

Advantages: Small and lightweight with good screen and keyboard size
Disadvantages: 3-cell battery only lasts 2 hours so buy one with a 6-cell battery

...I bought the MSI Wind U100 in October 2008 whilst on holiday in the US for just $380 and it is one of the best purchases I have made in the last year. I have used it every day since then and have had no problems at all with it. It is extremely portable due to its small size and low weight and does everything I need it to. My primary use for it is surfing the internet and typing up reports. I also make use of the built in card reader to transfer pictures from my digital camera. I was originally going to buy an Asus Eee PC 901 but after trying it at a shop alongside the MSI Wind, I found the MSI netbook to be much better due to the larger screen and keyboard. In my opinion it also looks better and seems to be more durable. The only bad thing I can think of about my netbook is that it has a 3-cell battery that only lasts 2 hours. It is...

...takes pictures of equal quality so don't get to excited about the camera. The video quality is average YouTube video quality. Hardly worth watching. The keypad on the U100 takes some getting used to. I'm not fluent on it yet so I can't really judge it. The call clarity is great. The reception is great. The "loudspeaker" isn't very loud. To be honest, I bought this phone because of it's novelty factor and it hasn't disappointed. It's great fun. I will keep my Nokia smart phone for daytime use and take this one out at night. It's perfect for when you don't want to carry a phone around, but have to. In summary, I would say grab one if you can but don't expect it to replace your smart phone.
