*MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum Explained In Detail*

Advantages: Looks great, excellent features, very stable
Disadvantages: Slightly expensive, no other disadvantages

...The Socket 939 Athlon 64 processor is a fairly new technology, and has been available for about six months now. Many people are reluctant to upgrade, either because they have a good enough system already, or they cannot afford the jump to 939 pin technology. The MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum is a motherboard which supports 939 pin Athlon processors. I bought it about 2 months ago for £90, and you can get it now for about £80. The following review will explain every detail of this motherboard, to make it more understandable by you. There will also be a brief explanation of what '939 pin' is. [FEATURES] The K8N is full of features, and I will try my best to explain them in detail for you. [Chipset]: nForce3 Ultra The Chipset of a motherboard is a set of main features manufactured by a seperate company, in this case, nVidia, who...

My Dream Machine Motherboard

Advantages: Supports.... Everything!
Disadvantages: As with all boards, difficult to set up!

...Welcome to the fourth installment of my computer component reviews! My motherboard is the 865PE Neo2 - P. I'm assuming that this is the same, it certainly looks the same. MSI is a highly respected motherboard manufactorer and have incorporated the intel 865PE chipset into this fantastic motherboard. Thanks to Rabid's suggestion, I went to the MSI section of overclockers. There I found the one he suggested, below it was this baby. For just £10 more I could have dual DDR RAM, as well as a few other minor enhancements. This board has all the standard features, like AGP 8x, ATA 133 support and 5 PCI ports. It's also got 4 ram slots (with dual DDR ram support and supporting up to 500Mhz RAM on overclock speeds). It supports all pentium 4 chips including the new Extreme and Prescott processors. For those who don't understand that...

64bit and AGP nice 1

Advantages: Last upgrade route for AGP users
Disadvantages: Poor on-board sound

...about 20-30 mins along with all my drives. All in all this board is good, and is feature rich, with 2 lan adapters, and a rock solid nVidia nForce 3 Ultra chipset. However a few experience points found to report. This board has its hyper transport bus crippled compared to others in its class, you have to push the HT multiplier upto x5 in the bios to the best out of it. Also an easy mistake to make when instaling windows XP and whating to use RAID 0 is when you hit F6 to choose your driver for the SATA RAID, install BOTH drivers the raid and the storage otherwise you will see 2 or more disks instead of your RAID 0 stripe. One furhter point, this board had a bad habbit of throwing a keyboard controller error when you tinker under the hood on occation, syptoms being the LED's saying chipset startup, but nothing happening other than...

first motherboard. brillaint.

Advantages: absolutley stunning. easy to set up.
Disadvantages: havent found any.

...I used this motherboard on my first home made computer. I must say that it worked a treat. I fitted to it an AMD 6000+ X2 processor,4GB R.A.M, 1000GB Hard drive space, Blue Ray Reader. 512MB graphics card...and some other small components. I have never seen a motherboard before that came with absolutley everything you would need one one for this price, 7.1 surround sound, integrated graphics including a HDMI slot, 4USB ports on the back... it just had everything. And above all that It went together like a computer should, very easy with no problems. It took me about 2 hours to built it, this wasnt includint the operating system though. I had absolutley no problems with it what so ever. I have read some other reviews about this motherboard before I brought it and they have stated that the BIOS is a tad confusing, i havent found it...

Should you join

Advantages: nice community, money!
Disadvantages: not the best layout

...As a member of both ciao.com and dooyoo.co.uk (Neo2k1 on both) for a few months now i thought I could do a decent op on their communities and tell you which is of course the one you should be with. As you’d expect, the communities are very similar and share just about every feature, comments, ratings, more for star ops, account details etc. If you use Ciao you will take longer to find what your after as the page are crammed full but after a few weeks you remember where those links are on the pages (please don’t change the pages Ciao).Dooyoo’s page are spread out and aren’t as detailed but easier to use straight away. Everyone likes to write in and give their opinion on a number of different products and should you write a decent op you get it posted on the website plus some money in your account...

Is your kid worth a few quid

Advantages: Might be worth a few pounds
Disadvantages: Might end up as kindling for the fire!

...for a more common one, he thought he had done a good deal because his so called friend had told him so. At this point I could see they were a little bit more collectable than I had first thought. And so 'Poke-mum' was born. Every card we bought was kept inside a plastic sleeve, inside a hardbacked folder. These were not to be played with and bent up like all the other kid's cards, NO, this was no longer a game. As we began to complete the sets, I scoured the internet auctions for the missing ones, much easier and cheaper than buying pack after pack. We soon had half a dozen complete sets. For those of you who have read this far and are thinking "what is she going on about?", a quick review. Pokemon Trading Crads are collectable cards that come in various sets, some of these are Base Set 1, Base 2, Jungle, Fossil, Team Rocket, Neo...

Great overclocking board with annoying bugs

Advantages: Fast, Price, Layout
Disadvantages: Bios bugs, Enthusiasts board

...I chose this motherboard to replace my aging MSI neo2 platinum board. I chose to go with MSI as I had a very good experience with the neo2 running a 50% overclock on my previous CPU. Although this new 975x board did not have all the features of its competitors such as 2x 16x PCI-Express and a large number of sata ports (this board only has 5) I thought it would fulfill my needs as my primary concern was the overclocking potential and stability of the board. The board is presented well with a manual (actually readable and useful),a generous number of SATA cables (I counted 4 in my box) and various other bits and pieces such as ata cables, back plates etc. Installation of the motherboard was quick and thanks to the excellent layout I was able to remove the stock northbridge cooler and put my own waterblock on and also have my cpu...

Lowestonweb.co.uk AKA Evesham technology

Advantages: Their bad service teaches you to appreciate professional companies
Disadvantages: Where do I start

...On the 18th October I purchased from Lowestonweb.co.uk one of each of the following; ? MSI MS-7025 K8N Neo2 Platinum MS-7025 £79.99 ? AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2GHz 512KB L2 cache socket 939 ADA3500DEP4AW £227.28 The total price came to £307.27 They were delivered today to my home address, when I got home and opened the packaging I was appalled to see that somebody had taken the MSI motherboard and AMD Processor out of there original packaging and squashed them into a box causing the box to bulge. The Athlon 64 wasn't even in an antistatic bag. The antistatic bag that the MSI motherboard arrived in shows signs of obvious pressure and stress where the cables and Processor have been squashed down on it. Any moron would know that these are highly sensitive components I couldn't tell whether these have been...

K8N Neo Platinum - Great board with many features

Advantages: Many Features
Disadvantages: Bad onboard lan

...I bought this motherboard in February when I decided to move over to 64Bit along with an Athlon 64 3200+. I purchased it OEM which means it doesn't come with a nice box with pictures on it, and you get it a bit cheaper. I paid around £65 including p&p. Ease of Setup = The MSI K8N Neo Platinum is as easy as most motherboards to set up. The memory slots are located in a good location and unlike my old motherboard didn't make it hard to fit in my graphics card. The positioning of the IDE connectors worked well for my case and so did the front panel connectors. I would have preferred it if the secondary power connector was on the right with the others but it isn't too bad. Overall the setup was very easy and there where no problems. The motherboard booted up first time. Features The K8N Neo Platinum is...
