Brilliant Philips multimedia 2.1 computer speakers
Review of Philips SPA7300 PC multimedia speaker system by
tomo359
Advantages: excellent sound quality, look great, subwoofer with seperate bass control
Disadvantages: None i don't think.
...General:
I love Philips products, in my house i have so many Philips products and they have always been great and look fantastic and these PC speakers are no different. They look great, sound great and will fit into any home computer system.
Price:
I bought them for around £30 new on Amazon and they arrived within two days. There are quite a few places these speakers can be bought. I think they are available at Argos, PC World and many other large retailers but i found that the cheapest prices were on Amazon and other internet sites. Pc World have them for around £40.
How they arrived:
They were packed very well. I opened the box and found everything that was surposed to be there. The two speakers, subwoofer, all the cables and a very simple instruction step by step guide to connect all the speakers and get them working.
Connection...

not strictly philips
Review of Philips by
jonlell
Advantages: loud, high fidelity, speaker system
Disadvantages: nonce
...the speakers i refer to are the microsoft digital sound system 80, which are actually made by philips and use technology liscenced from philips (WooX). these 2 satelite speakers and sub are outstanding. i also own some cambridge soundworks speakers and sub and although they are alos excellent, the microsoft system beats them hands down. the quality of sound through the usb sound card is crystal clear and the sub kicks out a real boom. the quality of bass at high volume levels is also excellent with little or no distortion. the software included consists of an equaliser which allows you to tweak sound levels to your hearts content as well as having a number of preset settings....

5.1 for your PC, Philips doesn't disappoint!
Review of Philips MMS 460 PC multimedia home theatre speaker system by
markays
Advantages: Good value, designed for compatibility for a large selection of sound cards
Disadvantages: audible hiss when quiet
...Product Overview
These speakers are primarily designed for connecting to a 5.1 compatible PC Soundcard. As with all 5.1 Kits, 6 speakers are provided: Front, Front Left, Front Right, Rear Left, Rear Right and Subwoofer(for bass).
When correctly configured, the speakers will play Dolby Digital surround sound.
Dolby Digital is used in almost all DVD releases and in many new computer games, providing you much greater depth to the sound. Where mono systems have one speaker, and stereo systems have 2, Dolby Digital requires 5 speakers + subwoofer to immerse you in sound from all directions.
Key Feature
Supports Dolby Digital 5.1 and EaX reproduction
Experiences
The system was very easy to setup. Each speaker is labeled and every jack plug is colour co-ordinated for quick and easy installation. The colours match most current...

Labtec Pulse 285 PC multimedia speaker system
Review of Labtec Pulse 285 PC multimedia speaker system by
liamscott1989
Advantages: 2 Speakers, 1 Subwoofer . Compact . Very Good Value .
Disadvantages: You may prefer a more powerful subwoofer for more bass .
...I used to work in a warehouse that stocked these and all the other brands/models. I got bored one day and tried most of them out with my iPod to see which speakers were the best! I ended up with this Labtec Pulse 285 and here is why!
I compared:
Labtec Pulse 285
Philips SPA1300 2.1 Speakers.
Philips SPA2600 5.1 PC Speakers.
+ more... (sorry i can't remember the others!)
Don't be fooled by the 'seemingly' low 6 Watt figure. On paper 6 Watts may seem a bit weak next to the competitors but when tested among 5 other setups these speakers are very loud and even still very clear with volume at 100%. Don't get me wrong you can't start up your own nightclub with these but you get a lot more than you need for PC speakers!
In reality the only difference you notice between the price ranges was the amount of bass being produced from the subwoofers...

Classy Performer !
Review of Philips DVD 711 by
funkybunny
Advantages: Zoom, Good Looking, Digital & Optical Outs
Disadvantages: Remote Control Too Small
...This is the new Phillips DVD player to replace the clunky old 710 that had the drive noise fault. It looks far better and the drive is centre mounted.
The graphics menu is updated to that of the 750 and includes 3D Surround Sound from just two speakers. Sound and picture quality are excellent and it has a good parental control system.
This new model has picture zoom, DTS & Truesurround. Unlike the old 710 it has both optical and digital outs.
Compatability is great - it plays all discs extremely well and doesnt have problems with disc formats like other makes of player.
The remote control looks neat (if a little small) and in a nutshell - the player has all the features of a classier, more expensive player but at the budget price. With a brand name like Phillips to boot - you can't go wrong with a 711 !...

A Good TV For A Good Price
Review of Philips 32PFL5522D by
Surj1
Advantages: Affordable, Good Variety of Connections, Simple to Set-Up
Disadvantages: Ineffective Surround Sound Mode
...The Philips 32PFL5522D is a LCD 32" HD ready TV. This TV is not one of Philips top of the range TV's from there new line. Saying that it does have some cool features, pixel plus being one of them and 2 HDMIs (for HD ready devices). You dont get the new Philips pixel perfect HD E-Processing or the new back lighting system which is introduced in the top range in this line. Then again the TV does only cost around £400-£450.
Philips though have produced a good looking TV, which sits on a black glass table top swivel stand. It has a glossy all black face with silver column and buttons to give it that extra touch.
The TV has speakers which are descreetly tucked in under the screen and the silver comumn has a neat built in loop to keep the cables and wires well hidden from view. This gives you an end result of a compact and organised TV...

pfc1010
Advantages: Great price Good picture and sound qualitiy

This LCD 32" screen with many features including HD ready for the highest quaility, Dynamic contrast enhancer delivering rich black details. The virtual dolby surround for a cinema-like experience. This product is compact and slim also matching stand with elegant design.
I decided on Philips as it seem to be quite good value for money and it had built in freeview which was great.
All the instructions are easy to follow and you can custom set up the television but found the factory settings to be just right. Its great picture quaility is so clear and crisp and the sound is amazing

A flawed offering!
Review of Philips HTS 6510 by
databust
Advantages: Doesn't require separate rear speakers for surround sound.
Disadvantages: No optical sound input. Booming base speaker that can't be toned down.
...quality pseudo-HD picture, but the slowness of operation when changing disks or media type is quite frustrating. The machine also goes through frequent phases of refusing to respond to the remote controller, and has to be switched off and rebooted to get it working again.
Bizarrely, the designers have not fitted an optical sound input, which means that many users will have to go to the trouble and expense of buying an adapter to convert the Dolby digital sound signal from their Sky box if they want to get digital surround sound through the Philips system Philips system. The instruction manual repeatedly implies that the scart socket can be used to input a Dolby Digital surround signal, but this is totally incorrect and misleading, and frankly makes you wonder if anyone at Philips knows what they're talking about. This is a digrace, and many...

Powerful wOOx speakers
Review of Philips AZ2558 by
Jazzyg85
Advantages: Beautiful sound with excellent speakers, especially the wOOx speaker which gives it that extra power
Disadvantages: No tape player
...This Philips boombox has great sound with excellent speakers, especially the wOOx speaker which gives it that extra power or zing. However you would call it. I bought this just to listen to CDs only and it gave me one of the best sound systems for a boombox. The amount of sound it provides is unbelievable. If you play music with a strong beat, you can see the wOOx speaker move completely out and then in again. This is value for money. If you go to Argos, you can get this for around £80 which is cheap for a company like Philips. You know you get quality when you buy a Philips. This is not only good for listening to music on, but because of the strong bass it provides a good beat and rhythm to dance to you. When I played this on full blast, I could feel the floor vibrate. I was astonished when I felt the floor moving underneath me. I would...

I LIKE MY SOUNDS PERFECT
Review of Philips SBC BA250 Mini Speakers by
thingywhatsit
Advantages: Great sound quality.
Disadvantages: None.
...I bought these speakers shortly after buying my computer because I was not satisfied with the sounds of the normal run of the mill speakers that come with my Dell System.
There was not enough manipulation of sound and I am a little bit of a sound freak. I like to be able to change the sound to suit the music and with normal speakers, I could not do this.
Not so with the Philips Speakers, as they come with a mini amplifier. Not only are these speakers good, they actually give me the sounds that I expect of quality music, and much more adjustment than I would get with other speakers.
The nice thing about these speakers is that they are mini ones, and do not take up so much room on the desk, as I have enough clutter already.
Available at Amazon.com for £25, these speakers get my vote.
Many times I talk to people on the computer...
