Two little tiny ones, which you can either put on your desk or fix to the monitor.(brackets included) One larger square shaped speaker that has been hiden away under the desk but could also go on the desk. I beleive this one controls base but i am only a girl, with not alot of knowledge of this. It also comes with a funny looking round control, where u can adjust the volume, it also has aux input. This seemed very easy to use. The system is simple to set up if you follow the included owner?s manual. It even tells you where you should put speakers to get the best quality. I was told it cost £190 so not cheap but it was quality stuff....

It is idle for homes and small gatherings, although I would not run a party off these. Pros: This system has terrific sound and can go very load despite its relative small size. As with almost all Bose speakers the quality is amazing, so long as the source you are playing it from is high quality it will allow the speakers to each its potential. I have a surround sound Bose set up in one of my rooms but now prefer to use this product as it is very simple to operate. Just plug the mp3 player in and press play and your set. These speakers came in a rather blank box, with HP written on it, they came nicely packed with a lovely and very easy to use instruction booklet. They looked very professional and they are a nice grey/silver colour with a tint of blue, you plug these into the back of your monitor and they run off the monitors power input which is very useful, they do not have a power cable themself because they use the monitors cable for power, meaning theres a saving of plugs when it comes to your two point plug way! The speakers are prevented in dark blue plastic, with a silver/grey with "Hewlett-Packard" on the front, with the soft cotton above covering the speakers themself, tinted at the top with a silver/grey strip. I ended up with this Labtec Pulse 285 and here is why! I compared: Labtec Pulse 285 Philips SPA1300 2.1 Speakers. Philips SPA2600 5.1 PC Speakers. + more... (sorry i can't remember the others!) Don't be fooled by the 'seemingly' low 6 Watt figure. On paper 6 Watts may seem a bit weak next to the competitors but when tested among 5 other setups these speakers are very loud and even still very clear with volume at 100%. Don't get me wrong you can't start up your own nightclub with these but you get a lot more than you need for PC speakers! Disadvantages: Need alot of space to take full advantage of the surround sound

...For nigh on 4 years i have owned a very basic 2 speaker setup for my PC which despite providing me with years of trouble free service i always yearned for the extra quality that a surround sound package would provide. I did a little homework and discovered that in order to take advantage of using a 4 speaker, 1 subwoofer (5.1) setup then i would need an additional sound card for my PC which supported the 4 speakers and subwoofer, i went out and bought a cheap 5.1 soundcard and installed it then i went along to Argos and purchased the Labtec Arena 5.1 surround sound speakers for £49.99 and after just 5 minutes of browsing thru the supplied and indepth manual i plugged my colour coded speakers into my PC and turned it on. Good replacement speakers

Advantages: Sound Quality
Disadvantages: Not very sensitive, crossover difficult to fit

...drive them - being on high volumes for not much sound output - this is because the speakers are not that sensitive, needing a decent amount of power to drive them. I would recommend using an amplifier if you have one to drive them. I fiited my MD player and this can handle them (30w RMS per channel), the speakers can handle 90w per channels. Sound quality is very good, almost up to home hifi standards, but suffered from the usual car problems of tweeters being mounted quite a was from bass drivers - this is a car problem not with the speakers. Unusually for car speakers you can tell what source material is used - you can even occasionally hear Minidiscs ATRAC compression in action which is extremely rare for car audio. Frequency range is good - almost as good as my main hifi speakers, for normal music I can see no benefits...
