The Resistance (Muse) - Don`t Resist - Buy It!

Advantages: Great tracks, different
Disadvantages: Not sure if it flows completely

...This is my first music album review so be kind! This CD is from the British rock band Muse and has 11 tracks. I really like the opening song on the CD called Uprising. The lyrics are great and overall I just really like this song. This is one of the singles from the album. Resistance is another great song and is quite catchy. The last three tracks are different from the rest and are called the Exogenesis Symphony. This is a lot more classical than the rest of the album and is very good. Apparently this has been in the making for a few years! The other songs are also great and there is a nice variety here. The album is a bit random though and I am not sure it flows completely. The album is a mix of rock, pop and even classical music and is different from nearly everything else out there. I have not heard any of their earlier songs...

...When Muse came onto the scene with their debut album they were dismissed by some as a Radiohead clone. Yes there was a vocalist with a big vocal range, the songs were a bit off kilter and not in the norm, and there were some weird sounds. So what? With their second album Origin of Symmetry Muse proved that they rock harder than Radiohead. Now we have Absolution, the third studio album and after a 9/10 score from the NME it?s safe to say that Muse are on the up once again. 5.11 t-shirt - Hot stuff, but not too cool.

Advantages: Keeps you warm, dries quickly .
Disadvantages: Uncomforable seams, can be too warm .

Most of the 5.11 Tactical Series undergear comes in what they call 'muscle mapping' style i.e. tight. As I don't really want a t-shirt 'mapping' my beer-belly, I went for the crew loose fit version, to leave a bit more to the imagination. # 5.11 claim these will keep you cool when it is hot and warm when it is cold - I have found this t-shirt to keep me warm when it is cold and roasting hot when it is warm! MUSE HYSTERIA

Advantages: Big move up in quality from the second album
Disadvantages: unecessary 'intro' and 'interlude' tracks

...This is the third album from brit-rockers Muse.Always a formidable live band, the first album was patchy whilst 'Origin of symmetry' tailed off poorly at the end. This marks their first fully realised album. Matt Bellamy's reigned in the vocal acrobatics a bit and the songs, whilst musically complex at times, have some fine pop choruses. The openning 'intro' is just the sound of the band stampign their feet which isn't really necessary, and the same can be said about the later 'interlude'. 'Apocalypse Please' follows and is a monstorous slice of music, with pounding drums and futuristic sound effects. 'Time is running out' is similarly bombastic, with a chorus built for singing along and some very cool sounding finger clicking. 'Sing for absolution' is the first ballad and has some particuarly nice guitar touches. It's tender yet...

...After recently watching one of the best live performances I've ever seen at Reading Festival this bank holiday weekend, I felt it completely necessary to review what is, in my opinion, Muse's best album to date; Origin Of Symmetry. After the general success of their debut Showbiz, this second album raised them into the high-society of headlining rock music acts. After this weekend's show, it's easy to see why Matt Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme and Dominic Howard are thought of so highly. Opener New Born, is simply breath-taking. ...the piano opening, quite rhythmic, and sets the piece as almost like a hymn but the track gets very dynamic once it gets started. The track is also on a quite fast pace, excellent piece when going for a run. 03. Undisclosed Desires This track, I find it quite odd. The tune is rather jumpy but quite an interesting song to listen to. 04. United States of Eurasia This track starts off with keyboard again, and it is quite Queen-like song with almost Indian song mixed into. And, I have no idea why they put a Chopin piece of music at the end because I don?t think it works as a track. 05. Keeping Their Muse

Advantages: Cryptic lyrics, good guitars, good singing
Disadvantages: No killer track as such, tracks a bit too similar

The backing vocals are vamped up to sound robotic and rather odd. It's a good song, but like most singles you'll eventually tire of it. However, it is a great song to get into Muse with if you're not already a fan. The delightfully named Map of the Problematic is the next track. Beginning with electric guitars that fuse with piano sounds, the lyrics add a thoughtful undertone to the music. Thus, it is a listenable track, but it isn't Muse at top gear.
