Museum and other non-profit professionals have begun to realize that the complete visitor experience is the key to repeat attendance, successful fundraising, and building audience loyalty. Taking lessons learned by successful experience-shapers in the for-profit world, Stephanie Weaver distills this knowledge for museums and other organizations which depend on visitor satisfaction for success. Is your institution welcoming? Are the bathrooms clean? Does the staff communicate well? Are there enough places to sit? These practical matters may mean more to creating a loyal following than any exhibit or program the institution develops. Weaver breaks the visitor experience down to 8 steps and provides practical guidance to museums and related institutions on how to create optimal visitor experiences for each of them. In a workshop-like format, she uses multiple examples, exercises, and resource links to walk the reader through the process.

Photo Mug showing One-Tree-Hill, Greenwich Park. (caricature) A commentary on the traditional, popular pastime of tumbling on the hills of Greenwich Park, in this case One-Tree Hill on the east side rather than below the Observatory. Rolling down the hill was considered great sport for young men and their female companions, if the latter could be persuaded to do it. In an age when proper female dress exposed little but the feet, it was also

It's very difficult to do anything new or different with the fighting game genre, with a select few ruling the roost, the PlayStation being no exception with the all-encompassing might of Tekken. It is nice when somebody does try and buck the trend, and Electronic Arts, along with Dreamworks Interactive have weighed into the fighting ring with the Jurassic Park franchise, resulting in Warpath. Fighting dinosaurs? Yes that's right. A motley collection of big lizards that rip, claw, tear, bite, kick, jump and roar. Choose from one player Arcade Mode or the two player Versus option, and you can go into battle with anything from the 14 strong selection of reptiles on offer, including Acro, Anky, Giga, Mega-Raptor and, everyone's favourite, the mighty T-Rex. There are 10 playing arenas, evoking the locations of Jurassic Park and sequel The Lost World. Pick your dino and then go for it, smashing your through the best out of three rounds of pre-historic violence. Aside from the basic player options, you can access the Jurassic Park museum, which gives a run down of the various species, a tag team option, and the practice arena where the player gets to beat up on a defenceless reptile. Warpath looks good and is very smooth, high in the atmosphere stakes. At the end of the day though, the novelty value of having big lizards to knock around the ring will not disguise the fact this is a basic, run of the mill fighting game. --Mark Wright

Fine Bone China Conical Mug is part of the V & A Museum Chinoiserie range. The item comes in a matching hat box, making it the ideal gift for someone to either start or add to their collection. This stunning design was adapted from a panel of wallpaper decorated with delicate flowering shrubs, colourful birds and butterflies. The original artwork was water colour on paper and originated from China, about 1790 to 1800. This stunning paper is said to have been given to a former owner of Shenfold Park by a Chinese Ambassador. Each of the Victoria and Albert Museum items has been interpreted using original material to create strong commerical surface patterns taken from the archives of the Victoria and Albert Museum. Inspiration has been drawn from various sources including traditional William Morris wallpapers, exotic far eastern silks and various rare and distinctive artefacts.

The origins of the V&A go back to 1837 and it has grown to be one of the world's greatest museums. Its collections include ancient textiles, modern chairs, sculpture by Michelangelo, paintings by Constable, fabulous Indian jewellery and miniatures, and over thirty-four thousand ceramics. The chronological and cultural ranges of the V&A's collections and displays offer many different perspectives. The objects can be seen as examples of craftsmanship and design, as witnesses to history and culture, or simply as superb works of art - things of beauty in and for themselves. This book, with a preface by the Director, Mark Jones, is an introduction to the riches of the V&A. It reveals the fascinating and often surprising ways that the collections have been assembled, and examines the unique character of the V&A. Lucy Trench is Interpretation Editor at the V&A. She is the author of Buildings and Monuments in the Royal Parks (1997) and editor of Materials and Techniques in the Decorative Arts (2000).
