...Bose SoundDock Digital Music System I happened to get this as a gift and it turned out to be quiet interesting Summary: This dock is used mainly for ipod and allows you to connet mp3 players to it and listen to high quality music via speakers. It is idle for homes and small gatherings, although I would not run a party off these. Pros: This system has terrific sound and can go very load despite its relative small size. As with almost all Bose speakers the quality is amazing, so long as the source you are playing it from is high quality it will allow the speakers to each its potential. I have a surround sound Bose set up in one of my rooms but now prefer to use this product as it is very simple to operate. Just plug the mp3 player in and press play and your set. Can't get much simpler. It also runs off a wall...

Such Amazing Clarity Out Of Such A Small Thing

Advantages: amazing sound quality
Disadvantages: you can't plug it in to your PC

...is very easy (please just trust me)). The hole set up process took less than 5 minuets. During music playback you have to do nothing (except adjust the volume) which is great. On some speakers you have to adjust the Base and the Treble (on some more complicated systems the subwoofers and the tweakers etc ?) on the Bose it is all done for you, admitably you cannot raise the base so much that the windows start to rattle but that kind of fun has a time limit and it is very short. ~Quality Of Sound~ As you probably know Bose are already notorious for their superior sound quality and their extremely high standards; and the sound dock is no exception, even though it is a relatively small system it can fill a room even when it is only at half volume...

...With the speakers you get power cables/moulded inserts to adapt dock for different design of IPOD/usual warranty of a year. Summary Put simply if purity of sound and power is your goal and you have a few quid then this is the system to buy. It competes with mini systems easily. Connectivity and size are a problem for people who want a more portable system....hey get some earphones! I have had mine for 6 months and had no problems (except from the neighbours). Hard core music lovers and those who think Mr Blobby/Las Ketchup are cool do not buy this system. Finally, yes it is expensive, it is BOSE......isnt that the beauty?...

The sound of a revolution

Advantages: Great sound, sturdy, easy to use

...a track or alter the volume!! (oh the horror!!) The third issue (and probably the most annoying for me), is that it can't run off battery power. While carrying it long distances for short periods of music listening is pretty unfeasable due to it's size and weight; it would be quite nice if I could take my sound system out into the back garden when we're having barbecues. Yet again, this is a minor problem; not really a huge concern and I certainly wouldn't let any of the above issues put anyone off buying one of these!!! Anyway, all in all, this is a fantastic piece of equipment. A must-have if you've got an iPod. They look good, they're relatively small and unobtrusive (as sound systems go), the sound quality is amazing. In fact, they're actually almost sexy!! ...I did not expect this level of sound quality from such a small speaker! The Bose SoundDock is a small, compact speaker system for the Ipod range. It has great looks, amzing sound quality and suprising power! There are two different sound docks.. the first one was basically a plug in speaker system just for use with the ipod, perfectly good for anyone who is looking for amazing quality. This one costs £199. The second one they bought out, which i have also got, is the same system apart from it has few extra features. It has a rechargable battery so you can listen to it on the move, it has a carry handle built into the back for ease of transportation, the dock is on a rotating platfrom so it can be made to fit flush to the dock and then open at a touch and then most importantly it has a 3.5mm Aux input that now the user is not limited...

Not up to usual Bose standard.

...The Bose Sound Dock.... where to begin.... well I bought this in autumn 2004 to go with my apple ipod. I had great expectations but sadly I was disappointed. The unit looks smart in the usual Bose way but in the areas you need it to excel it just doesn't. Firstly this isn't a cheap speakers solution, so you expect a reasonable quality product from such a specialised manufacturer. I own other Bose products but this one doesn't meet the same standard. In the box you get (as I recall).... the system, a remote control, instructions, power adapter and a selection of ipod adapters. When setting the system up you have a selection of ipod adapters to choose from that sit in the front cradle, allowing you to dock different generation ipods. This is a feature that I liked but the adapters are a fiddle to fit and not easy to swap...

Bose Sound Dock (2nd Generation)

Advantages: Incredible sound from such a small unit, good build quality
Disadvantages: Price

...the battery off as this is the bit that weighs a lot. The controls are easy - you put your ipod on the dock (or connect something else to it) and then there are two touch sensitive controls on the right hand side for volume. It switches off automatically and charges your ipod whilst it is connected. I don't think that you could compare it to a decent separates system, but for the size of the unit, the sound is incredible. You can turn up the volume quite loud and there is no distortion. There is a sound port on the back which doubles as the handle, and I found that putting against a wall gives a much deeper bass. The only negative I have to say about the unit is that the power adaptor is massive and could have been designed better. It also comes with a remote control that lets you mimic some of the control features of your ipod - volume...
