Microsoft Musical Instruments

Advantages: very informative, fun to use, very educational
Disadvantages: hard to find in stores, can only be used on a Mac

...Its fall and my K-5 elementary students have returned to there favorite spots on the risers in my music room. It is always energizing to see there enthusiasm and excitement about school starting, getting there instruments in beginning band and coming back to music class. I especially get a kick out of the kindergarten students who are in "wide eyed wonder" over all the changes they are experiencing. I began the year teaching the students about the different families of instruments and after digging through my dusty files, I found a real treasure! Microsoft created a CD called "Microsoft's Musical Instruments" about 12 years ago. It is one of the best programs I have found for introducing the various families of instruments and learning about instruments from other countries. It only works on the Macintosh computer and I am not sure...

...SNOOPY: THE MUSICAL Well it's another Snoopy review, but unfortunately not AS glowing as the last one, shocked? Me too! The front of the DVD case looks exactly like the picture shown, bright orange with "SNOOPY: THE MUSICAL" emblazoned across it. The back of the case has a short blurb about the musical. Snoopy the musical is a special animated programme based on the stage musical "Snoopy!!! ...Not being a high school musical fan i reluctantly played this game at a family members and i was right to be scepitical as this not a good game purely because of the High School Musical theme. The concept of the game is fantastic, If only it had various song's from the years and was not based on the film i think i would have enjoyed this a lot more. A Soothing Musical Journey

Advantages: Lovely music, tracks your toddler will recognise
Disadvantages: Short, will annoy you after a while

...contains the original songs which make it into the television show, so it is music which is going to be instantly recognisable to anyone who watches the show. I like that all the songs are included as I can choose to play either Harry's favourite songs or just let the CD run right through and let him listen to the lot if I'm feeling particularly generous or in a good mood. It is called "A Musical Journey", presumably because it takes us on a journey through the Night Garden introducing its characters and all the music featured on the show. The cover artwork isn't particularly eye-catching which I was surprised by. I would have expected it to show an enormous picture of one of the characters on the front to grab the attention of toddlers walking by but instead, it features a navy blue sea scene, much like at the start of the programme...

Why I Love My Piano (although I'm a bit rubbish!)

...Did anyone see the report on the news last week about the increase in people taking up musical instruments since the credit crunch began? I was surprised by this, but when I thought about it a bit more it did make perfect sense. Playing an instrument can be very relaxing, satisfying and a great antidote to the stresses and strains of modern life. The initial cost of buying an instrument can be considerable, but once you have it, there it is, just waiting for you to make your beautiful music. High School Musical: The best of the three

Advantages: Fun and quirky, easy to watch!
Disadvantages: Ok..it is a litttttllleeee naff lol

......both who have great singing abilities and who meet while on holiday at New Year, and end up taking part in a school musical...a high school musical to be exact!! :-D The film is funny and has some funky sing along songs you'll never get out of your head!!!! It will keep your kids quite for an hour and a half anyway...and thats always a plus point!!!...

Advantages: Bright, colouful and it's a toy as well as teether
