Advantages: It might not be MVC, but it's StreetsOnline, so technically a very good service for potential consumers, although they'd be best advised to use the real thing. Disadvantages: It's beyond belief that MVC have done this. There is nothing here which bears their trademark, in any respect. MVC members will feel let down and confused.
...MVC, part of the Kingfisher retail group that also includes Comet, B&Q, Superdrug and Woolworths, have been late in setting up an online store. From humble beginnings as a cheap'n'cheerful discount music store on the Harrow Road in North London at the start of the 1990s, they have slowly expanded their business to all four corners of the UK, although the total number of outlets is still less than their highstreet rivals.
They have never been the most fashionable of chains, with their rather bland style of instore decor and functional rather than atmospheric layout. For years, they could seldom be beaten on price, which - when all is said and done - matters more than nice-looking stores to the average consumer.
Having established themselves as a competitive and unique brand, therefore, it's disappointing to find MVC's online service...

Review of mvc.co.uk
Advantages: Excellent range of poroducts especially in the DVD sections Disadvantages: Can timeout at certain sections especially registration
...MVC have just launched their online shopping site and what a treat it is, I am maybe a bit biased with this opinion, as this is whom I work for! But the site has been designed by a company called Streets Ahead who are leaders in online shopping.
MVC are a fairly young business when it comes to High Street retailing and there are very few here in Scotland and only about 80 altogether throughout the UK. The company is part of the Kingfisher group (Woolworth?s, B&Q etc.).
When you first log into mvc.co.uk you are presented with a page that seems fairly busy with a lot to take in, but there are not many ads and stuff to distract your attention away from the purpose of the page and it is soon realised that all the info is relating to sub sections such as DVD?s and books.
The top of the page has hyperlinks to all of the main sections...

Review of mvc.co.uk
Advantages: Competitve prices, fast delivery. Disadvantages: None
...I placed an order for a DVD with MVC yesterday. The order process was fairly straightforward. No problems there. The site itself was easy to use, bright, colourful, and visually busy without being too confusing. I put my selected title into the search facility and up came several hits. It even specified which year my chosen film was made so I didn?t accidentally order an older version under the same title. So far so good. £3 off normal price. OK so it?s £1 for p+p but it?s still great value and so much easier than fighting through the crowds at the high street. With my password I can view my account details and order history. Nice!
Much to my surprise the postman dropped a parcel through the letterbox this morning. Whoa! That?s pretty fast I thought. Christmas shopping could be a doddle at this rate.
Easy-to-use site. Fast delivery...

Review of mvc.co.uk
Advantages: Free P&P, Comprehensive range, varied product categories Disadvantages: The search engine is good but not my favourite feature
...The MVC website is a relatively new venture for a well established company on the highstreet, and I have to say that I am very impressed. They have a comprehensive range of products including DVD's/Videos, Books, Music and Computer games.
I used to be an avid Blackstar.co.uk fan, buying all of my DVD's from there. But since MVC launched there website I have been a convert. The pricing structure is easy to follow as there are no Postage and packing charges. The price you see is the price you pay.
The site is easy to navigate and the search engine is good but maybe not as great as Blackstar. Having said that though, I haven't had any problem finding anything.
Now the most impotant things price and service. I have found that in the majority of cases the MVC site offers the lowest prices for DVD's I have found on the internet. The price...

Review of mvc.co.uk
Advantages: Gets you very drunk Disadvantages: Tastes non alcoholic
...of mint choc chip ice-cream.
Add about a quarter of a bottle of vodka
As many ice-cubes as you wish.
Then secure the lid on the blender and blend until the mixture is runny enough to pour. This mixture is usually enough for about 2-3 glasses, just make up more if need be.
You can add a little baileys if you wish to make that little bit more creamy (but beware you cannot really taste the vodka but it certainly affects you (afterwards)
Pour into tall glasses and add triangles of after eights on top to garnish.
Obviously this is alcoholic so is strictly for over 18's
Delish happy MVC - ing.

Advantages: Easy to use, see the photographs straight away. Disadvantages: Quite expensive.
...There was request on one of the ‘gropes’ (Yahoo groups) the other day for opinions about digital cameras and it got me thinking. Everyone doing opinions of this type would, naturally enough, veer towards the technical capabilities of the item in question, in fact Dave has already done an excellent opinion about this very camera.
I thought that I would try writing an opinion about the benefits of having such a camera, without going into the technical side, which I don’t really understand anyway, and see how it was received.
Our new camera is a Sony Digital Mavica (or MVC-FD90) and it cost us about £450. Mind you we had saved over £100 worth of free vouchers on sites such as Mypoints and Ipoints, which helped a lot, and we got 9 months interest free credit on the remainder of the price.
When we first decided to...

Review of Sony Mavica MVC FD90
Advantages: Easy to use, lots of functions, floppy disk storage and there are add-ons available Disadvantages: Bit heavy, battery life a bit short and it is not the cheapest available
...Picking a decent digital camera is a right bugger - there are so many of them offering a range of features and naturally a range of prices. Let's face it, although they are getting cheaper such digital cameras are still a bit pricey.
When I came to chose one I had valid reasons. I have a SLR Canon camera that uses good old 35mm film. Works great, but scanning the pictures is a bind. This is where the idea of a good functional digital camera came from!
After much deliberation the Sony Digital Mavica (or MVC-FD90) was the choice. Why? Let's put it into perspective so you can get an idea of my personal needs.
The Requirements
1) A camera that was not too complicated but offered a decent selection of functions
2) USB connection optional. Would prefer 3.5" disk storage meaning no leads and unlimited storage by swapping disks...
Advantages: Quick delivery and value for money Disadvantages: Doesn't accept Solo cards

Review of mvc.co.uk
Advantages: Lots of choice Disadvantages: Delivery charges overseas
...After finding the MVC site to order DVD's I completed my registration. This I found to be a simple procedure compared to other sites I have tried and then proceeded to view the DVD's of my choice. And what a choice!
I could not fault their site it's bright, colourful, clear and very easy to navigate with the option bars across the top.
I selected the DVD tab which opens a page full of the MVC recommends and latest releases. The categories are clearly laid out down the left hand column.
Personally I like the search DVD option at the top which saves time having to scroll through all the films to get to the one you want.
The prices are very reasonable, some slightly higher than other sites but there also bargain films as well so it balances itself out really!
When you find your DVD simply hit the 'Buy Now' tab and you are...
