...Anyone that read my review on the power rangers cake that my son had for his birthday, will be aware that he just had to have another cake for his actual birthday, not one that he would have to share with anyone bar his big sister Kaitlin, the cake I will now review is that cake in question. The cake I will now review is - ?My friends Tigger & Pooh, celebration cake? The cake, as with most of the cakes for sale in Asda, our supermarket of choice, the boxes have a large clear plastic window on the top. This is to show the cake in it?s full glory and is there to tempt the child into picking the biggest and brightest. This particular cake was panic bought, Connor wanted a Power Rangers cake, but when we went to get one the cakes on the shelf would have been out of date three days before his party, let alone his birthday! I think Laura Wilson is my new best friend

...If you enjoy a good psychological crime novel that is written, well I am sure that, like me, you will really enjoy this book - My Best Friend by Laura Wilson. This is the third book written by Ms Wilson, and while crime novels aren't my favourite genre, I found this a remarkably well-written and absorbing book. This book is very unusual in the fact that it has three first person narrators as well diary entries from over fifty years ago and also includes excerpts from children's books. This sounds on first hearing that the book will be messy and hard to follow but Laura Wilson manages to integrate all these elements together into a dark, heart-rending story of a dysfunctional British family over a period of fifty years. Advantages: Good to add information and practise independent writing
Disadvantages: Pen is easily lose

...Me and my friends One of our recent purchases whilst out shopping because at the moment Little Miss is really into the diary kind of thing. THE BOOK The spiral bound book is brightly decorated on the front cover with a large pink heart, pink mobile phone and other bits and pieces likely to appeal to people into pink! Attached to the side of the book is a pen with press down buttons to select any one of 4 colours. The pen is nice and chunky with the side of it having that grippy material so little fingers don't slip down the pen. The only downside to the pen is that it is attached by one of those key ring metal circles so is quite difficult to remove from the book; once it's taken off we don't want to attach it again so there is a very real probability that the pen will soon get lost! Open the book and the hearts and pink...

Mr Leakey, please be my friend too!

Advantages: Enchanting characters
Disadvantages: Some of his ideas are a little dated

...thought & acted like Mr Leakey prisons would be a LOT less crowded), he also has some rather unusual concepts about things like fair play and doing unto others. The stories with Mr Leakey are very well told and will appeal to children of all ages (I liked it when I was 9, I still like it now aged 39. So much in fact I imported my copy from India before they started reprinting it in the UK), its the amazing illustrations of Quentin Blake that really seal the deal as they add a whole new dimension to the stories as you read them. Either Blake has read the book VERY carefully or he was right inside JBS Haldane's head whilst he was writing the stories. My Friend Mr Leakey is the only childrens book Haldane ever wrote but he was published many times in the scientific & mathematical fields as he was pretty much a genius as far as numbers...
