Jeff Banks fragrance

Advantages: Great aroma and value for money
Disadvantages: not widely available

...This fragrance was released in 2000 by Jeff Banks. While out shoping in debenhams sale one day my wife came across this mens perfume called kyo by Jeff Banks (there is a womens equivalent myo. The fragrance comes in a cyclindrical bottle with a clip off top. The spray is easy to use and doesn't stick like some cologne's and you end up spray too much or too little. Musky fragrance, with a taste of fruitiness that lingers on you for quite a while. Quite a light fragrance not as strong as some other products like obsession by Calvin Klein. Not as long lasting as some Calvin Klein products but defintely one the women will like. This perfume used to be available at boots and superdrug not sure if still is. I bought this perfume for £7 at a debenhams in a sale so was very lucky. Normall priced around £19.99 so it is good...

the edge of perception

Advantages: different, complex, multi-dimensional characters
Disadvantages: slow moving at times

He is a distracted character who loves his work and his wife Rebecca, whom he met whilst he was tuning her family piano. Edgar's life takes a massive turn when he is comissioned by the British War office to leave London and travel to the remote jungles of Northeast Burma to tune a rare Erard grand piano. The piano belongs to the eccentric yet brilliant army officer/doctor: Anthony Carrol. In Burma Edgar meets the beautiful Khin Myo who accompanies and aids him on his travels. What I enjoyed about this book was the wonderful descriptions of the nature in Burma, it painted a vivid image that appealed to all the senses. Wormhole physics

Advantages: Very well constructed and quite imaginative
Disadvantages: Long and maybe a bit too detailed

...thought was a satisfactory ending to the first book in this series. While the story is of epic proportions, I did feel that the book was maybe a bit too detailed and at times was a bit frustrated at the lack of action. I was very impressed with Inspector Paula Myo, who is incapable of allowing justice to be subverted. On of the problems, is that she is just one of a myriad of characters to keep track of, which is another thing that I struggled with for most of the book. The story does start to converge towards the end and looks like it is building to a thrilling conclusion in the 2nd book, Judas Unchained (949 pages). I read the e-book which is $6.99 from amazon.com, but must warn you that this is a bit hard on the eyes. What's inside?

Advantages: Good overall epic story, not too technical, fairly easy to read
Disadvantages: Little variation in characters, some superfluous plot threads, too many characters.

...one or two different enough to be interesting. Once the story gets going, then things get a lot better. Each of the plot threads is a different genre and almost completely different stories in their own right, so there's the conspiracy theory of the Starflyer, the political sniping of the Dynasties, the attempts by the Guardians of Selfhood to prove the existence of aliens to the Commonwealth and many more. Paula Myo is an investigator chasing the Guardians, so there's a mystery to follw and Ozzie Isaacs goes walkabout looking for the Silfen, an old alien race that might also be able to provide answers to the mysteries of the Dyson Pair. As a story, it is truly epic in scope. There are downsides to the epic nature. I don't think the author interweaves these story strands together too well. ...only at given times and places. Why do the Army suddenly appear to rescind sanction for the trip into the interior? Who is the beautiful, mysterious Khin Myo who first acts as housekeeper, but then also as interpreter, and travels into the depths of the jungle and the remote highlands with him? What is her relationship to Dr Carroll? What, exactly, is Dr Carroll? Intrigue abounds, and there are clues, which in the shifting light of the orient may or may not mean anything. The Piano Tuner is worth reading for the story alone, but only just. The pace is that of the river, occasionally torrid and fast, but mostly a slow, gently powerful flow. Disadvantages: You'll need to read the prequel first. Not all that gripping.

D' old men and old women hotel!

Advantages: Situated near the promenade overlooking St Paul's Bay and Islands
Disadvantages: Bedrooms not as luxurious as reception. More fresh fruit needed.
