Nokia N97 - 'The new iPhone'

... Intro Being the previous owner of a Sony Ericsson w850 for over 2 years, I decided that it was time for a mobile phone upgrade. I had a few different phones in mind, the Apple iPhone, Nokia N97, Nokia 5800 Xpress Music and the HTC Touch Pro, in the end I chose to buy the new Nokia N-Series phone. It was a clear choice over the iPhone because of the price, also you do not have to buy the phone AND pay a monthly contract fee with the N97. Buying The Phone After choosing the phone I decided that I wanted to switch to contract instead of pay as you go. At the time the phone was only available on the Vodafone and Orange networks, but I believe that you can get it on most major networks now. I had previously been with Orange and wasn't too impressed with their service, so I chose Vodafone, they also had better deals for the N97...

...hey guys! this phone is great. no two ways about it. havent personally heard of any problems occurring with software, which happened quite quickly with the original n95 and the n96, so hopefully this is getting better. STORAGE the phone itself comes complete with 32GB of storage, a massive amount for a phone, with the iphone only offering a 16GB max. also ,the N97 has expandable storage of an extra 16GB, so thats a massive 48GB in total! plenty of space for movies (which you can watch) tv shows, music photos etc. DISPLAY 3.5inch screen which has a handy little tilt in it, so you can actually set it flat on a table and still use the keypad, much like a teeny weeny laptop, or you can watch your movies etc like that. 16m colours so very high quality. Disadvantages: too bulky and can be expensive

...I think that this phone has most things that are possible to have on a phone. In general i think that the Nokia N series is really good. This phone has most functions and is realtively easy to use like most Nokias. However i find that it is quite bulky and the buttons are maybe a little bit on the small side for people withe larger fingers. Also the camera on this phone is not as good as some of the other phones in the N series. I think that if you are purchasing a phone more for the practical side or something small that you use just for communciation but you want to still have a new and stylish phone you should opt for a new sony ericson or even a samsung E900 or E500. I find Samsungs very easy to use like the Nokias. I think that if you were to purchase this phone at the lower end of it price range it would be well worth...

...Before purchasing the N95 as part of my latest contract with the carphone warehouse I decided to do my own research on it. I read very mixed reviews on it. Some people were saying that it was the best phone they'd ever bought, yet others practically slated it for things such as use of battery life, size, slowness. ...Having always been a Nokia fan, when the time came to upgrade by phone from the 'very functional once you upgraded the firmware' N73, I had little hesitation in going for the N95, despite staff at O2 advising me the K850i was a 'vastly superior phone'. The handset was free and the contact very rosy so I waited eagerly for it's arrival. It was easy to se up, the phone worked well straight out of the box. Being a bit of a geek my first port of call was gadgets, the mp3 player, video player, camera etc. The screen proved to be large and well designed. ...It took ages to boot up. By the time it was ready for use it had been at least a 3 minutes. At first i thought "it's broken already?" as it seemed to be stuck on the white nokia logo screen. It did eventually spring into life and a nice welcome screen asking me about tutorials and would i like to watch some video of how to operate then handset. I noticed at this point that the light omitted from the screen was visable through the side of the handset, the screen it self is sandwiched between an upper and lower plate of plastic, the gap between them both was where the light was escaping. This to me looked terrible and further added to my disappointment of the N95, cheap and tacky build quality which for the price of handset is really unacceptable. ...Well I have to say as a fan of Nokia the N95 did not disappoint. The screen is great it is extremely user friendly and has so many features and applications it will keep you busy for ages. However, a couple of things to point out with the N95 is the Satnav facility. This was one of the reasons I bought the phone, you have to download the maps, sometimes the software can be a bit dodgy ( I had to reinstall the maps and format my disk to get it to work) Its a great service, but you do have to pay extra to get the actual voice navigation program. After paying line rental and call costs the last thing I wanted to do was spend more money! The camera is pretty awesome for a phone and was the first mobile phone to have a 5megapixel Carl Zeiss camera. The back of my phone came off, probably after dropping it a few times, and now...
