Nokia N800 - great for the internet junkie

Advantages: Great surfing experience, nice screen
Disadvantages: Shame it does not make phone calls like a regular mobile phone

...The Nokia N800 internet tablet landed on my desk today, and having previously tested the N770 I was a little excited to see what had changed and/or improved. More importantly, would I now find a use for the device, when last time around I was left mystified as to how useful it would be for my day-to-day use. Out of the box the design has improved a great deal. Gone are the slab-like looks of the previous incarnation and you can say hello to some smooth curves, a nice contoured back and a pleasant silver finish to the front. The buttons are a bit odd, sort of set off-centre, and a little non-tactile, but you won't find this a problem, as they are not used too much. The touch screen is the same as before, a glossy finish, very high resolution (800x400) and everything is really colourful, bright and pin-sharp (more on this later). Around...

K800i-Forget the rest INCLUDING N80 it's THE Best

Advantages: Battery Life, Intuative Texting, Excellent Layout, 3G, 3.2 Megapixel Camera
Disadvantages: Possible Joystick Problems again...????

...retailer nicely, you never know!! The ONLY reservation I have is the Joystick. It works absolutely fine!! But with the K750i, it is a well known "secret" that after a while, some of the phone's were giving up the ghost. SE replaced them when they released the W810i and W550i, but it seems to have raised it's ugly head again. I can only presume SE have sorted something out and strengthened the Joystick.... I tok a chance, and so should you!!! THE COMPETITION??? At time of writing......definately the Nokia N80! So why pick the K800i?? Simple...Not only is the battery life excellent on the K800i, the N80 is significantly poor in this area compared to MOST handsets at the moment, K800i or not! The camera quality, although both are billed as 3 Megapixels, is much stronger on the K800i. After reading reviews and speaking to those with an N80...

...hey guys! this phone is great. no two ways about it. havent personally heard of any problems occurring with software, which happened quite quickly with the original n95 and the n96, so hopefully this is getting better. STORAGE the phone itself comes complete with 32GB of storage, a massive amount for a phone, with the iphone only offering a 16GB max. also ,the N97 has expandable storage of an extra 16GB, so thats a massive 48GB in total! plenty of space for movies (which you can watch) tv shows, music photos etc. DISPLAY 3.5inch screen which has a handy little tilt in it, so you can actually set it flat on a table and still use the keypad, much like a teeny weeny laptop, or you can watch your movies etc like that. 16m colours so very high quality. N800 - extremely portable and full featured

...I purchased the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet shortly after the newer N810 was released for a bargain price from play.com. The N800 is basically identical hardware to the newer N810, only missing the pull out keyboard, the on-board 2gb of storage and the GPS chip. It supports bluetooth so it's possible to replace the keyboard and GPS with bluetooth accessories, and it supports SDHC cards for storage, so 2gb of storage can be picked up for a song nowadays. The N800, once upgraded to the latest IT2008 software from Nokia, is faster than the stock IT2007 software as it increases the processor speed which was deliberately underclocked to prolong battery life. There is a friendly and helpful community of people writing software for the Internet Tablets, along with official software provided from Nokia themselves. The screen is brilliant...

...Nearly 4 years ago I bought myself my first well known laptop after 3 lots of non branded ones. There is a world of difference and with careful selection I ended up with the Compaq Evo N800. What a break that turned out to be. First things first - the screen is superb with top laptop resolution rather than the crappy max of 1280xnothing offered by most other models out there even today. 1400 x 1050 gives too small a font some might say. Load of rubbish. This screen has the best viewability I've ever witnessed by which I mean that it's easily readable from any angle in front of the screen. No, it's not widescreen but don't let that put you off. Battery time is a solid 2-3 hours depending on activity and even after 4 years of the same battery it's still the same.
