However, this is not a shopping area - only a few souvenir shops in the area and little else. You are opposite the Country Music Hall of Fame, though, and around the corner is the Ryman auditorium - former home of the Grand Ole Opry. Also round the corner is the famous strip where you'll find all the Honky Tonk bars such as "Robert's Western World" and "The Black Orchid". Fender Deluxe Nashville Telecaster

Advantages: Amazing value for money!
Disadvantages: None, unless you want a guitar with a tremolo arm.

...I bought my cherry red 2005 Nashville Tele from a New Jersey guitar dealer because it looked like a bargain - second hand, but new condition. It cost $389. After paying for postage and import duty, it cost me about £340 overall. This is the best value for money guitar I have ever bought! The finish is superb quality, and it looks every inch as good as any of the USA models. Telecaster purists may not like the individual bridge segments for each string, but they work better than the old style bridge in my opinion, and the machine heads work well with a good feel. Playability is superb - the intonation is excellent. The guitar is the best playing Telecaster I have ever encountered, with a fast action and good string spacing. Tonal variation is extremely wide. Holiday Inn Express Nashville Downtown

Advantages: Value for money, good facilities, near "Music City" centre
Disadvantages: Bus ride to malls if you're there for the shopping

...I was in Nashville for a classical music conference attended by more than 1000 delegates, so I was surprised that this Holiday Inn - one of the overflow hotels was listed as being only 2 star. I needn't have worried. It proved to be a more than adequate base for my stay and had some great plus points which to me puts it more in the 3 star level as far as we Brits grade hotels. I paid about £70 a night booked direct. The room was typical Holiday Inn Express, no frills, clean, basic furnishings, but with huge US tv and very comfy king size bed (better than in British Holiday Inns in my experience) usual things like hairdryer, ironing board, coffee/tea + kettle, free newspaper all OK. Nashville, more than just music

Advantages: friendly, safe, cheap clothes and I could go on and on
Disadvantages: Not direct flight from the UK

...When we told our American on line friends that we were going on holiday to Nashville, Tennessee they all said "what the hell do you want to go to that Hick town for". Well we went and cannot wait to return. Nashville is the home of Country and Western music and literally everywhere you go you hear music. It is great. Everywhere we went people were friendly. If you can, go places by bus and this will give you the chance to meet and talk to the locals. All the shops/malls are on the outskirts of the town but the bus fares are one price whether you go one stop or to the end of the line. This way you not only see more but all the locals will chat to you and point out all the places of interest. Shopping is great. Very cheap clothes and tools and computer items. The home of country music

Advantages: Everything is within easy reach of downtown. There are many things to see and do.
Disadvantages: Rush hour traffic is horrendous along the interstates due to road construction.

Nashville tele a great little rocker

Advantages: Three pickups, five way switching, great Fender Classic
Disadvantages: Teles are quite heavy! No tremelo. not suitable for real heavy metal.

Advantages: laid back and funky, friendly and clean
Disadvantages: downtown is a bit small and unimpressive

...pretty laid back, and if you want to find some of the most genuinely friendly people in the world you'd do worse than to come here. The city has a range of clubs and venues, and now also houses two major sports teams - the Nashville Predators ice hockey team, and the Tennessee Titans, who reached the superbowl final this year. As far as night clubs go, you could do worse than Johnny Jacksons' for funky stuff, and for the best coffee in the best atmosphere, then try Fido's or Bongo Java. Nashville has a fair bit of the more obvious tourist stuff to do - for example, the Grand Ole Opry, the acropolis-aping parthenon, and Belle Meade plantation - and these are all worth a look as well. If you're looking for a good time, with plenty to do, you could definitely do worse than go to Nashville....

Dylan Goes Deeper Into His Country Era

Advantages: A Relaxing Laid Back Album That Reveals Another Side to Dylan
Disadvantages: Not A Classic And Only Really For Fans

...of a song Dylan originally released on The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan. Thos does in parts, notably the end, feel a bit rough and ready, but I have always enjoyed that style, as seen by my insatiable love of bootleg releases, and it shows a more human side to Dylan and shows the awkwardness that the two big musicians had when together. Overall, a nice cover of a song I have always enjoyed. 2. Nashville Skyline Rag **** This is the only official instrumental release that I can think of by Dylan, except for those from Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, involving some nice guitar work, which really does superimpose the idea of Nashville and the laid back style of it. This is not a track with fireworks, like some of the Jimi Hendrix instrumentals, but is a nice relaxing piece that really sums up the feel of this album. 3. To Be Alone With You...
