WELCOME TO THE AGE OF SCIENCE (Natural History Museum)
Advantages: nteresting, educational, fun, something for everybody above the age of 2, free
Disadvantages: NONE
...I was delighted to find out that National History Museum (as well as Science museum) became completely free of charge some time between 1992 when I last visited and now. As soon as my daughter was big enough to say dinosaur I took here there on one of our day London trips and we spent about 2.5 hours wandering about the collections.
The building itself makes it worth a visit, now beautifully cleaned to reveal Neo-Gothic glory of the intricate multi-coloured facade where the sculptures depict members of the animal kingdom rather than gargoyles. Welcome to the beginnings of the science age.
The Natural History museum comprises Life Galleries, covering mostly animal life (a lot of them extinct) and Earth Galleries, covering subjects like geology, volcanoes, minerals and the like. Please note that there is very, very little plant related...

The Booth Museum, Brighton
Advantages: Free admission, lots to see
Disadvantages: None for me
...of the first identification field guides and still are today. The science of natural history might have come a long way today, especially with the use of DNA but without the vast collections like this one at the Booth Museum none of that might have ever happened.
The Booth Museum is open at the following times:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday 10am-5pm
Sunday 2pm-5pm
Facilities include a small gift shop that is strategically located at the reception in the entrance meaning that you need to pass by this when you first enter the museum and also again when you leave. There are toilets that are equipped for disabled visitors and there is also a reference room/library.
Admission is free so if you are in the area and this sounds like your sort of thing then pay it a visit as it is highly recommended by me.

My favourite museum in London
Advantages: learning was never so much fun - free entrance - amazing museum
Disadvantages: could be crowded... that's all
...Natural History Museum of London is perhaps one of my favourite museums in the World. Whenever I'm in London I try to visit it.
The museum is in a "cathedral" building. This creation was deliberately designed by Alfred Waterhouse to inspire awe... and it does. It's even hard to photograph because it's very big compared to the surrounding area. The elaborate Romanesque style is impressive as the giant cast of Diplodocus skeleton in the main hall of the Life Galleries.
This museum makes learning fun! They have amazing galleries and a vast collection (70 million plants, animals, fossils, rocks and minerals to be exact) including dinosaurs (also a real-size animatronic Tyrannosaurus Rex roaring at you) and Creepy Crawlies gallery. Also impressive is a giant tree slice on top of the stairs in the hall which dates from 557 to 1892 when...

A Day At The Museum
Advantages: Full of information and great interaction diplays
Disadvantages: Not very good disabled access
...Me and my girlfriend went on holiday to Salzburg Austria recently. So it has given me the chance to do a review on another local tourist attraction that we went to while we stayed there.
This review is on the Salzburg Nature Museum, and as we both share an interest in animals and nature it was an ideal place for us to visit.
Getting There.
The Salzburg Nature Museum is situated in the City centre of Salzburg. By bus from our hotel it was only a 20 minute journey to get to the relevant stop on the bus route to jump of and walk the short distance by foot.
You can if you wish get a bus direct to the Museum, but we are quite fit and it was a lovely day, we decided to walk the short distance through the City to get there.
The Museum is situated in the Griesgasse region of the City and is very close to the River Boat Cruise pier...

Natural history fun
Advantages: Its Free, Educational and Fun
Disadvantages: Tired Feet, cafe expensive
...fun and go prehistoric for the holidays.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Address and getting there:
Natural History Museum, Cromwell Road, London SW7 5BD, UK.
Within walking distance of South Kensington station on the District, Circle and Piccadilly lines.
By bus Routes 14, 49, 70, 74, 345, 360, 414 and C1 stop near us. Some tour buses also pass nearby.
I would not advise going by car here as parking is very difficult and expensive.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Extra Helpful info:
The Cafe is very expensive so i would suggest you pop out for lunch and come back. I brought 4 drinks and 2 small packs of biscuits for approx. £15 never again.
Due to heighten security your bags will be checked on entering...

Naturally, it's great
Advantages: A full day out, something to interest absolutely everyone.
Disadvantages: Lots of groups of annoying schoolchildren get in your way during term time, quite expensive
...I remember when I was about eight years old, going with my mum and her human biology class from college to the Natural History Museum, for the human biology exhibit they have there. Of course, once we'd done all that boring grown-up stuff, I was allowed to go do what I really wanted to - look at Dinosaurs...
Just last month I found myself in London for a couple of days, and having no plans until the evening, decided to relive my youth and go back to the Museum. Of course, I'm older now, more mature, so thistime what I really wanted to see was... dinosaurs! Yes, more than a decade may have passed since an excited little boy reproached his mother for pronouncing the names wrong, but I was still only interested in the extinct beasts.
The Museum is split into two sections - The Life Galleries (dealing unsurprisingly with life...

Is this a dinosaur I see before me? (UPDATED)
Advantages: Knowledge, understanding, fun and of course history
Disadvantages: Sore feet and aching legs
...I am fascinated with history and feel at home in Museums, I am one of those people who you would guarantee to visit the local Museum when on holiday or for the sheer fun of a day out visit a Museum in another city, and this was one of those days. Mum and I went to London and visited a Museum: not just any run of the mill Museum but one of the largest Museums in Europe: The Natural History Museum.
Rather than bore you with the full details of my journey I will just briefly say Mum and I decided we would go for a day out to the nations Capital on one of Midland Mainline special deals of £15 each return without any idea where we would visit it was a case of pot luck until we got there, so arriving in London we bought a travel guide, opened it up and picked a Museum at random. South Kensington was our destination.

The Greatest Museum of London
Advantages: Costs no money, very interesting
Disadvantages: -
...Our trip to the NHM
I will tell you something about the Natural History Museum in London today, which we visited last year. I hope you enjoy reading the article.
It is Tuesday 14th of October, 10.30 o´clock in the morning, our third day in London. After a few discussions about how to spend our free time in the morning, we decide to go to the Natural History Museum, because it´s no long way to get there, it is free and we find no better choice..
We, that´s a group of five people of our class: Svenja, Prisca, Kathrin, Janine and Natascha. We first think that this museum is called National History Museum and expect that it is about the history of Britain. We are very surprised when we recognize that the museum ist about NATURE and not about the British NATION!
After leaving the South Kensington underground station we...

EYE 2 EYE WITH KILLER DINOSAURS
Advantages: A variety of things to see/ Educational & Fun / Value 4 money
Disadvantages: Crowds/May need more than a day to view all exhibits on offer
...My very first visit to the Natural History Museum was way back in primary school, the only problem is I can?t remember much about what I saw & so I had to visit this place again. Since then I have been twice, last year & three weeks ago. I?m on a London tour at the moment & I feel like a real tourist, two of my Spanish friends from Barcelona are here on vacation & so I thought the natural history museum would be an ideal place to start.
So here goes ..............
History/Location
????????????????
Located in South Kensington, Cromwell road the Natural History Museum first opened in 1881 & was designed by Alfred Waterhouse using Victorian building techniques. It is built on an iron and steel framework, this masterpiece building exhibits millions of years of evolution by combining the latest technology techniques as well...

Learning is definately fun at this museum
Advantages: Free, Child friendly, Amazing exhibits, lots to do
Disadvantages: Can be quite crowded
...If anyone ever thought that museums are boring then there would be one place I would send them to. That place would be the Natural History Museum in South Kensington, London. I recently went to London for a weekend to go sightseeing and this place was top of my list of priorities. Back when I was a small child my dad took me to this museum, however except for seeing all the amazing things I never took much in, however now I am old enough to read I was astounded at the origin of the fossils and exhibits I was looking at.
Not living in London I imagined it would be hard to find this museum. But with a trusty A to Z I found where it was and got the tube. It has it’s own tube exit, which leads you practically to the front door of the museum. Excellent, if like me, you don’t know where you are going. I was also amazed...
