Navigon stuns the market with innovations again

Advantages: Feature rich, easy to use, bluetooth to your phone for handsfree
Disadvantages: Doesn't have the community features that TomTom has.

...I've had the Navigon 7110 for well over a year, and as my 1st Sat-Nav I have to say I've been extremely impressed. I researched the market before buying, delving into forums, countless reviews and reached the conclusion that a TOMTOM = p*ss-poor. I found the Navigon and it was a breath of fresh air, it was the only sat nav that looked really really stylish (then). The 7110 has europe maps, and the 7100 has UK and Ireland maps, there is a £30 price difference between them. Not only did it look stylish, but it had features to match: ~~~~ Lane-Assist ~~~~ When your driving on a motorway it shows a 3d view of what lane you should be in (shown on the main image above..) - A bit gimmicky but remarkably handy when you decide to drive on english motorways (I'm from scotland and we only have 2 and a half motorways...

Navigon 8110: a good design but very poor support

Advantages: Good design
Disadvantages: Very bad support

...I purchased the Navigon 8110 about a month ago. From the start it wasn't doing what it was supposed to do: navigating. No gps reception, no gps receiver icon on the screen. So, after two days of trying and re-trying I tried to call the support desk. For about 5 times (each time 10 minutes waiting) no luck, the sixth time I called the sales dept. and within 3 seconds the phone was picked up! The lady promised me to send me the details for sending the device to the company for a repair. I wanted a new device because in this one I had no faith anymore. Next day: no mail received. Once again I called the support dept, this time it took me 3 times; and this time I was more lucky. The device was picked up the same day. After 2 weeks I received the same device. Now I had a gps icon on the screen, and after a hard reset it was functioning...

Review of Navigon 2200

Navigating your way

Advantages: small & handy, easy to use, not stupidly expensive
Disadvantages: freezes if not turned off properly

...the cost of a carry case later we were the owners of a GPS! Inside the box was the Navigon system itself which is stylish and sleek. It's not too big which is a plus as my mum's is huge and takes up quite a bit of dash space (She's got a Mini but still!). A car holder which attaches to the screen via suction cup and a USB connection cable. The maps cover 40 different countries yet still think the Citron dealership is 100 yards further down the road then it is. There are a couple things like that I have noticed which are no big thing really as you are still in the right area. There is one awkward roundabout near me and the GPS tell me to be in the middle lane when actually you need to be in the right-hand lane and it sees the magic round-about (six mini round-abouts in one) as one massive round-about. Never be lost again!

Advantages: Good street routing, free traffic updates
Disadvantages: No M6 Toll road

Mio DigiWalker saves me from getting lost

Advantages: Easy to use, all in one, compact, gets you to where you want to go
Disadvantages: Virtually no accessories available yet, doesn't perform a full post code search

.... The navigation software is a collaboration between Mio and Navigon. There is an option to have one destination, or multiple destinations. The destinations can be found by entering the town, street, and house number, or by entering part of the post code, and selecting the street. There isn't the option to do a full post code search, but this doesn't appear to be a major issue, for me anyway. Once a destination is found, it can be saved for easy access in the future. A useful feature is the ability to save a home destination, which is then accessible from a button on the face of the unit, providing a one touch solution. The actual navigation is fantastic. The screen can be configured for either a 2D or 3D map, defaulting to 2D, and can be switched between the normal daytime colour scheme, and a higher contrast night time scheme. The screen updates...
