Navigon stuns the market with innovations again

Advantages: Feature rich, easy to use, bluetooth to your phone for handsfree
Disadvantages: Doesn't have the community features that TomTom has.

...I've had the Navigon 7110 for well over a year, and as my 1st Sat-Nav I have to say I've been extremely impressed. I researched the market before buying, delving into forums, countless reviews and reached the conclusion that a TOMTOM = p*ss-poor. I found the Navigon and it was a breath of fresh air, it was the only sat nav that looked really really stylish (then). The 7110 has europe maps, and the 7100 has UK and Ireland maps, there is a £30 price difference between them. Not only did it look stylish, but it had features to match: ~~~~ Lane-Assist ~~~~ When your driving on a motorway it shows a 3d view of what lane you should be in (shown on the main image above..) - A bit gimmicky but remarkably handy when you decide to drive on english motorways (I'm from scotland and we only have 2 and a half motorways...

Navigon 8110: a good design but very poor support

...I purchased the Navigon 8110 about a month ago. From the start it wasn't doing what it was supposed to do: navigating. No gps reception, no gps receiver icon on the screen. So, after two days of trying and re-trying I tried to call the support desk. For about 5 times (each time 10 minutes waiting) no luck, the sixth time I called the sales dept. and within 3 seconds the phone was picked up! The lady promised me to send me the details for sending the device to the company for a repair. I wanted a new device because in this one I had no faith anymore. Next day: no mail received. Once again I called the support dept, this time it took me 3 times; and this time I was more lucky. The device was picked up the same day. After 2 weeks I received the same device. Now I had a gps icon on the screen, and after a hard reset it was functioning...

Excellent GPS package at great price

...When I decided too buy this product, I wasn't specifically looking for a handheld computer, I was after a decent (but inexpensive) GPS satellite navigation system; and the Acer n35 is not only the cheapest GPS-equipped handheld, it's actually cheaper than most dedicated sat-nav systems, so the fact that this device functions as a computer with numerous other facilities is a pure bonus! You can easily pay £400 for a dedicated portable sat-nav system like the Tom Tom Go, and similar amounts for sat-nav equipped handhelds, but the Acer can be had for as little as £240 brand new with full guarantee. You see already the main economic advantage, especially when you compare it to the four-figure sums that car manufacturers charge for built-in sat-nav systems.... The Acer n35 is basically the n30 without BlueTooth capability...

I have noticed some of the plating wearing off the plug, exposing bare plastic. This is because It is not a good idea to leave the SAT NAV in the car when parked, so I have to take the cable out if I park somewhere dodgy, like city centres. All the now normall features for a standard GPS package are included such as Voice Prompted Directions so you can be told exsacly what to do and other features such as favorite settings etc. This package seems to me as if it was designed to replace the need for a GPS however as i will come to later it does not seem to fill all recuirements that it should.
