Advantages: Lovely maps and Intuitive
Disadvantages: 4-digit Postcodes and POI alerts are just not good enough

...Destination, Distance to your next turn, Compass Heading, Current Time, Current Speed, Time to Destination, Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA), One thing I really like about the Navman i520 software is the ability simply to draw an ?avoid area? directly on the map screen encompassing places that you want to avoid and the route is planned without passing through it. This is great if there are roadworks or your local knowledge about roads in your area allows you to plan a better than the SatNav when left to its own devices. The iCN 520 uses the same ?camera food? as my Vivitar 5355 ? SD memory cards up to 4GB but I have a 2GB in mine, which is sufficient for maps of; UK, Ireland, and all of mainland Europe to street-level. And if I go on holiday I can archive the SD card onto my computer and use it to store extra pictures taken with my digital...

Advantages: Quick and easy to use, with clear buttons

...I Purchased the Navman back last year, from halfords for a heafty £249.99. But i have to say I have never looked back. Advantages: Quick and easy to install, i'm a women and managed to do it with no help, all I had to do with it was plug it in. The screen and navigation keys are very easy to use, and very clear, makes getting around the system alot easier. The map display is great, and yet again very clear, also has a Point of Interest option on it, which is very useful i.e if you have gone out for the day and you need to get to a garage for petrol or post office etc.. the list is end less on there. The map display can be changed, to either a map, or a list of instructions. with 2d and 3d maps. The display can also tell you your speed, the ETA, distance until you have a another turning, distance until you arrive at you location...

Advantages: Simple to operate. Very easy to listen to. Reliable and robust
Disadvantages: Struggles to find GPS points sometimes when starting

...the suction holder was rubbish due to the slope of our windscreen. I found it was better to turn it on before departure at least ten minutes. Once it picked up the three satelites then it would work fine. We put it between handbrake storage hole. Not very easy to find or listen to. The volume can be adjusted and comes out very clearly. Once sorted we used it again to travel to Bury St Edmunds. The machine worked great. Its briliant in the dark when you cannot see road signs quickly. Summary If you travel far and wide on your own its good. Nothing like using a map as its an expensive toy. If we could guarantee to keep our car I would say get an built in one. Its safer than leaving it in the window or glovebox. You do have to concentrate on what it is saying. Also if you pull into a side street it does get confused!...

Navman and friends comes out on-top

...Well, having read the other reviews I doubt I can top them, very thorough, however there are some things I saw that I can fill in on. At the end of the day, if you have £250 to spend on Sat Nav, either you will be looking at Tom Tom One and Navman ICN520. The difference between the two is that the Tom Tom One uses 20 Channel GPS compared to the Navman which has 12, and that the Tom Tom One has 7 digit post code finder. So looking at the black and white, the Tom Tom One wins.... well actually not for me. Hence my title, "Friends" see, there is software out there that can make the Navman search for 7 digit postcodes. Not only that, but as the Navman runs on Windows CE and the Tom Tom One doesn't, it can also be turned into a PDA with a touch senstive screen. That means you can listen to music on it, play games and use other PDA...

...The navman ICN 520 sat nav is a basic sattelite navigation system(sat nav) that is for those who do not drive a lot and want a simple to use and basic sat nav. Its mainly operated via the buttons on the right hand side of the screen but tries to incorporate a touch screen. The good thing about this sat nav is that it is not just a touch screen so for those drivers who may not be used to a higher level of technology it is very easy to use. I first bought this sat nav since I had no global positioning system(GPS) experience before and wanted a simple and basic sat nav which would guide me around my country and made sure I would never get lost. ...This Sat Nav is a lovely looking kit. it is sleek and the buttons are well placed and are of good quality. The screen is extremely clear and large. It is also nice and robust Initial startup requires the SD card to be inserted and then the Maps loaded, this takes moments - new maps and upgrades are available from the Navman website - excellent! To find a destination, the postcode entry screen takes a little time to load but then you can quickly and easily find your destination through several menus. It calculates routes extremely quickly and options such as motorway route, speed/distance options mean multiple routes can be found the Navman voice isn't too annoying. if you take a wrong turn or choose to go a different way the Navman recalculates quite quickly. Its very accurate for your position and has only once got confused...
