Navman S30 3D Satnav

Advantages: Good sound quality, Excellent re-route calculation.
Disadvantages: Gets a litte confused in busy cities due to the volume of roads.

...With the low price satnav market becoming saturated, i found it difficult to find a satnav that would suit me. Someone i knew had one of the older Navman models so i thought i would buy the updated version. Navman's new baby navigator, the S30 3D has its work cut out to compete in such a tough market, so it's good to see that it has got the most important thing right and set the price at a competitive level. The navman can be bought for under £100 which is much less than the equivalent Tomtoms and Garmin's which start at around £150. Its not only the price that makes this product better than the rest. Navman S90i many faults

Advantages: Has a camera, Blutetooth, TMC (when they work)
Disadvantages: Very, very slow response time. Many bugs

...Don't buy this product. The Navman S90i has many faults/bugs Camera viewfinder screen goes black for some reason and you can't use it unless you do a hard rest. This seems to be a common fault with this model, as several other users have also reported this. Very slow response time. Doing a u-turn on a road or even just turning left or right into a road and it takes ages. Sometimes I have to pull over until the screen updates. The TMC has a very poor reception Press the camera button (while the lens cover is closed) and see what happens! it takes a picture of nothing (because the lens cover is closed) doh! a bit of a silly bug by Navman. Why doesn't the unit recognise that the lens cover is closed? Also, it is very easy to accidently push this button while handling the unit and it goes into a frenzy of happily taking blank...

Navman S90i - A good Sat Nav choice

Advantages: Screen size, visability, ease of use, accurate routes
Disadvantages: Slow to recalculate

...To sum up in a sentance - I would buy this again. I previously had a Garmin product which worked very well, but eventuall gave up on me. This forced the purchase of a new model which must have European mapping. The S90i has that and a few other bits and so far has not sent me to any daft routes. I use the unit most weeks and have also used the traffic master service on it as well. Look & Feel The units is quite wide and the large screen is well presented, clear and easy to navigate through. It has enough configurations for me including colour schemes and night modes. It feels solid and the screen mounting is stable with no vibration - it stays stuck unlike my Garmin one. Advantages: Too many to list. Excellent value, efficient and easy to use
Disadvantages: It has a car charger, not an ac charger. Is that too bad?

I found this function next useless on both the new iCN 520s I bought and usually alerted me to places after or as I was passing them rather than giving me prior warning. This was a fault that I could not rectify even by repeatedly reinstalling the software and buying another one to see if this was a one off. It wan not a one off and the situation was only resolved by chancing upon some Tom Tom 5 software that I could load onto the Navman iCN 520 and this both cured the POI alert problem and provided me with full 8-digit postcodes for locations.
