N.Clarke Straightener
Review of Nclarke NCS54/NCS70 by
MsBailey47
Advantages: different heat settings, swivel cord
Disadvantages: experienced minor electrical problem
...Considering the reasonable price of these hair straighteners I think the performance is adequate. The different heat settings is definately useful if you want to minimise heat damage to your hair, but also as I do have quite fine hair in the past other straighteners have been to harsh and caused damage. The swivel cord is very useful, as I find them much easier to use for styling, and they are also great to creating slight curls.
I do feel that they help to make my hair sleeker and adds some shine, however this is more prevelent the first few times of use. I also experienced some connections problems in terms of the LED lighting up once on.
However they seem to fulfil their function at a very good price, and seem to work just as well as other more expensive straighteners avaliable....

Silky smooth
Review of Nclarke NCS15 by
sarah1178
Advantages: easy to use
Disadvantages: gets very hot
...I have to admit that these are the best straightening irons i've ever purchased and believe me i've purchased quite a few over the years.
The irons are light and easy to use, the ceramic plates glide through hair with ease, there is a heat setting button that ranges from 1 - 9 to suit all hair types including the really curly and an on/off switch with indicator light
I set the straighteners on 4 and straightened my hair in around 15 minutes - it usually takes 45 and leaves kinks but my hair is the smoothest and shiniest i've seen it since leaving the hair dressing salon.
The straighteners are easy to clean - wipe with damp cloth and should last a good period of time if looked after.
I purchased my straighteners from Littlewoods for £34.99 but i've seen them in argos, boots etc....

Head Up High..
Review of Nclarke NCS54/NCS70 by
Goldfish100
Advantages: frizz control
Disadvantages: everyone wants to borrow them
...I have quite curly hair. Some would say WAYYYYY to curly hair...
And it is not only curly...... its frizzy! unbelieveably so!
It upsets me soo much.. and my self esteem.
I used to have a pair of hum drum straighteners... and they did ok.. not dead straight but not too frizzy either... slightly bearable.
At christmas I got a pair of these Nicky Clarke Straightners... and Oh My God They are awesome!!!!!!
I can get my hair exactly how straight i want it and there is NO FRIZZ!
I do not even have to straighten my hair as often.. it has a leasting effect... even after washes..
I now do not worry about having people laughing or talking about my frizzy mess of a head..... I can walk with my head held high...
confidently...
strutting my stuff
:)...

Nicky Clarke NCS70, Good Straighteners
Review of Nclarke NCS54/NCS70 by
Raychella
Advantages: Straightens hair well.
Disadvantages: Handle heats up after a while
...I choose these straightners after deciding to invest in a new pair after using one of the wide remington ones. These are easy to use and heat up in no time. Compared to the ones I had prior to these I prefer these because on the straighteners there is a on/off button which helps if I do forget to switch the plug off.
The different heat settings means they will work on practically any type of hair. My hair is quite thick and when it was longer I had to keep it on a higher temperature as there was effectively more of it! My hair is now short and still works well, the width of the straightners makes it easier as well when straightening my fringe.
The handle is a little awkward to hold after a while and if you have to use them for a while then the handle tends to get hot as well.
The straighteners don't come with a heat proof mat or case...

Don't buy these!
Review of Nclarke NCS10 by
tallulahbang
Advantages: Erm...
Disadvantages: Oh gosh, pretty much everything.
...My hair has always had a life of its own - a full, frizzy and entertainingly windswept kind of life. Up until about 2 years ago, I had more or less decided that I hadn't the heart for pitched battle with it, and so resigned myself to curly (on a good day) and frizzy in the style of electrocuted poodle (on a bad day).
Then I noticed these straighteners on sale in Boots and got a bit overexcited imagining myself with Gwynneth Paltrow style poker straight hair (this despite the fact that in reality it's going to take straight hair and nothing short of a minor miracle for people to mistake Gwynnie and I as twins). Got the straighteners home, and oh boy, what a disappointment.
Compared to GHD or similar they are really big and clunky and the cable is quite short. The heat dial goes up to 9, but this is purely there to confuse...

Nicky Clarke Kinder 4 Hair straighteners
Review of Nclarke NCS54/NCS70 by
flystar
Advantages: Good technology and finish for price, adjustable heat control.
Disadvantages: Slow heat-up to high temperatures.
...since then that the price increased to £50, but it has come back down slightly to todays price of £39.99. It's not often a product increases in price after you buy it.
The plates are coated in ceramic and tourmaline, which is an ionic mineral that reduces frizz. There is also infra-red heating which is also supposed to beneficial to the hair. So the technology is pretty much the best you can currently get. I don't even think the GHD's had tourmaline.
There is a temperature control with setting 1-5. Heating to 3 is fairly fast but is takes forever to get to 4+. There is no control on GHDs, they are always on max temp ~220C. These go upto 230. Obviously the higher the heat the more effective the straightening but the more damage. So GHd's may appear to be so great simply down to the temp. I must say these at top temp. can make my hair poker...

Straight out of the hairdressers!
Review of Nclarke NCS15 by
jules.34
Advantages: Good Value for Money
Disadvantages: Can get hot
...I purchased these Nicky Clarke hair straighteners for my sister a couple of Christmases ago, as she asked for them and they were on offer (under £30) out of Boots. She said they were the best hair straighteners that she has - and she's always using hair straighteners on her hair.
I decided then that it was time to start looking after my own hair and I bought myself a pair. They have been the best investment I have ever made.
There is an indicator light which shows you that they are on. There is also a number indicator (1-9) for the heat range it can go to. I usually have mine between 4 and 5 and spend 10- 15 minutes on my hair every morning.
They are light, and glide through the hair quite easily (I was always put off with hair straighteners before thinking that they would hurt my hair!). They are also not too bulky so...

Three plates from heaven....
Review of Nclarke NCS30 by
Katie3410
Advantages: Three plates, holds more hair.
Disadvantages: bulky, a bit expensive
...I love these straightners…I don’t actually have them but a mate of mine purchased them for 80 pounds.
She wanted something that would half the time of her doing her hair, as she has really thick hair (like me!) and these really do work.
The importance with most good straightners is having ceramic plates.
Ceramic plates heat up twice as fast as normal plates, and with many hair straightners that can be as quick as 5 seconds. Nicky Clarke pulses do just that they heat up in 5 secs and go to as hot as 200 degrees.
The Brilliantness about these straightners are they have three (yes i do mean three) ceramic plates, evening the hair and enabling you to straighten more hair, while shortening the time.
I am probably like most people and hate spending a lot of time doing my hair (mainly due to having a three year old daughter) and needs...

Nicky Clarke made me a yummy mummy
Review of Nclarke NCS68 by
rodders5301
Advantages: long flex, different heat settings
Disadvantages: none as yet
...I have never been blessed on the hair style front!! With neither curly nor naturally straight hair (the odd wave and kink where you don't want them) my style has always been rather non-descript - but Hey not any more!!
Feeling fed up with my usual hairdresser - who had managed to make my hair look like it should be on my mother's head rather than mine - I headed off to a newer trendy salon in the rather wealthy market town of Wetherby - lots of hair salons and beauty salons!! I told the hairdresser I had been growing out a boring style and could she neaten it up. She chopped about a bit - got out the straighteners and wow what a transformation!! I got loads of compliments at school pick up and felt I had stepped into the world of the Yummy Mummy!!
Straight onto the Amazon website and chose the Nicky Clarke NCS68 straighteners...

Cheap and Cheerful
Review of Nclarke NCG7 Professional Ceramic by
dmilnerharris
Advantages: Heat up quickly, light
Disadvantages: Power cord gets tangled easily
...I have had these straighteners for a while now, so I have had time to get used to them.
At the time they were one of the best ‘cheap’ end straighteners you could buy. With having the ceramic plates they heat up quite quickly, usually to the top temperature in two-five minutes.
The plate size is quite small so was ideal when I had short hair; they took no time at all to get that sleek look.
It used to take me about 5 minutes to get dead flat hair and I found it lasted nearly all day, I would have to maybe go over some bits again before I went out, but don’t we all!
However, as my hair has grown I find that they don’t cope to well with thick hair, and also hair that is not bone dry. For example if you was, dry then try to straighten your hair all at once you will not get that professional straight look, more of a half hearted, slightly...
