Make the change to TFT with the NEC Multisync

Advantages: Fast response time; excellent image quality; sleek design
Disadvantages: Viewing from acute angles results in a poorer image; monitor button labelling

...a complete pain with my CRT. Now I can leave the blinds fully opened and the lights switched on and still have the luxury of a glare free screen. The controls on the 1760 are also quite good, that is with the exception of the labelling. The menu has a lot of functions and adjustments, but the buttons on the monitor are impossible to read. I have found myself just having to press them and hoping that I get the right. I suppose in time I?ll get used to it. On the plus side though the screen looks practically buttonless and has a very sharp appearance. The 1760NX shares both the base model number and its screen with various other NEC LCDs (1760M, 1760V, etc.). Some only have analog input however, and some have "multimedia" speakers that are built in. In my opinion, you will definitely want the DVI input, even if you don't use it immediately...

NEC Monitor MultiSync LCD1560NX

Advantages: Excellent color quality
Disadvantages: Rare model, incase it requires fixing

...The company is an old and huge company, and their monitors give a very satisfactory performance generally, but since they have launched NEC Multisync 1560NX, it totally changes your opinion about this company ! this monitor gives an EXCELLENT color quality, you will be amazed by the details that it will brought up, not just that its design is also great however small size of this monitor is the only downside and its not cheap either according to its size but when you will go a bit further into specs you'll know that your getting the right monitor for the right credit, their are very low chances of it getting into bad shape if you'll treat it right however one cannot ignore the chances, and if you will require it to fix the monitor then your going to face problems number one its LCD, number two its NEC...

NEC MultiSync LCD1770NX

Advantages: Display quality, viewing angles, price
Disadvantages: Not quite as bright as some

...For its price, an excellent quality monitor. If you are a graphics designer looking for colour calibrated monitors then go elsewhere, but as an IT Administrator I have two of these on my desk that I use for 9 hours a day. No eye strain, colour balance is good, image quality is superb. In our office we have over 30 of these and not one has developed a fault, dead pixel or any other problems. The image is consistent from one monitor to another as well (suprisingly uncommon on LCD monitors!) It could be a little brighter - I have a Dell monitor next to my NECs and its *slightly* brighter - but you only notice this because they're next to each other. All in, you won't regret spending the money. Decent resolution, decent size at a decent price....

Advantages: Bright & clear display. Fast update times. Great for photo editing and games!
Disadvantages: Expensive. Fiddly 'stick' control on front panel.

...The last time I bought a monitor, I'm not sure that LCD was even an option. That was back in 1999, when I picked up a 17" Medion CRT. It has done me proud, but for some time it has been flickering, and was beginning to get a little blurred. Still though, I was convinced that a CRT gave a more true rendition of images across the whole of the screen. I know people who bought LCD monitors some 4 or 5 years ago, and, although the green eyes of envy liked the look of these monitors back then, it has taken until now for me to be convinced that these screens really could replace the trusty old CRT. My suspicions have not been unfounded. I first noticed that some LCD displays have great difficulty in providing much contrast. On an Excel spreadsheet, on my old work laptop, for instance, it was nigh-on impossible to tell the difference...

...I have a NEC Multisync M500 that I acquired from a friend. In a modern world, this monitor's cons seem to overweigh the pros - it's a very bulky CRT monitor for starters, the resolution and refresh rate are not impressive and it's very small (14") however, it does feature an excellent microphone and built in stereo speakers. The monitor is a sort of beige colour, the two stereo speakers either side of the controls at the bottom of the monitor. I've noticed a handy feature on the left hand side of the monitor - a socket for an external pair of stereo headphones to be plugged in, allowing you easily plug in a pair of headphones. I imagine this would be very useful if you do not have a front panel on your computer as it is easy to add. The monitor has an OSD (on screen display) to adjust settings. Best Screen Thing

Advantages: Resolution, Auto-Setup, Response Time, Price
Disadvantages: Doesn't generate as much heat so study is colder!

Of not breaking my back when trying to adjust it's 35Kg weight to a slightly more comfortable viewing angle. I had to get and LCD. And obviously I did - an NEC MultiSync 2070VX to be precise. Bearing in mind the screen I'd been using for the last 5 years had been 21" at a resolution of 1600x1200 the bar was pretty much set - anything less would be a significant backward step. With a single-minded purpose, I set about scouring the interweb for an LCD screen that would provide 1600x1200 resolution at a decent screen size. There is a reasonable range of choices here, with prices starting at about £300 and proceeding to upwards of £600. A great monitor for a reasonable price

Advantages: supports great range of colour, responsive, easy to install, cheap, 3 year warranty
Disadvantages: speakers could be better

...I was unlucky enough to win a Liyama Pro Lite E2200WS on a competition site, with a RRP of £220 and threw away my old monitor confident that my new one would be head and shoulders in terms of performance. Anoyone who has read that review will now that I thought it was poor to say the least with a wide range of expletives used to describe it. Needless to say it got wanged on Ebay and was sold thankfully for £135 much to my amazement. That left me with £135 to purchase a replacement and this came in the form of the NEC MultiSync LCD175VXM+ for £130 in a stylish silver finish. For £130 you get a 17-inch LCD monitor with digital TN+ film TFT display, slightly smaller than my Liyama but in terms of colour and resolution it beats the pants of it destroying the myth you get what you pay for. Advantages: awesome picture, small physical size.
Disadvantages: costly.

...I've got the black version of this, and man is it sexy. If the law would allow it, i'd make this device my bride. - 15.1 inch active matrix TFT LCD : that's roughly equivelent to the viewable screen area of a 17 inch CRT (or normal!) monitor. It's TFT, so it's funky and totally flat. Naturally this gives you the benefits of viewing angles and lines on a perfectly flat screen, ideal if you're a graphics professional. - 120 degree horiz viewing angle : Know how cash point screens can only be viewed from a direct position, that's because they have a low view angle. This monitor has a wide viewing angle, so you won't have to sit directly at it for it to look good.
