Not the brightest but a reliable projector
Review of NEC MultiSync VT440 by
Plymyphil
Advantages: reliability, price, image quality
Disadvantages: none come to mind
...Thanks in advance for reading this review and for those who have read my recent reviews, I apologise for yet another data projector and promise I only have a couple of these reviews left to do!
First, a background about my use of the NEC VT440, a catchy name I’m sure you’ll agree. I teach in a primary school and we have a number of data projectors serving different purposes around the school. This was our projector of choice for our main hall and was purchased two years ago for marginally over £1000. It is still in service and has what I expect would be ranked as light usage. It is used daily during assemblies and occasionally booked for other activities as it displays onto a screen about eight feet by four feet. The duel data and video inputs on the side of the projector make it useful in a variety of situations within...

NEC LT25 Review- A++++
Review of NEC LT25 by
atsstibbs1
Advantages: Crystal clear picture, great resolution, very cost-effective!
Disadvantages: Inputs and configuration, slightly complex.
...you know the feeling!
Anyway, i did eventually muddle through although the instructions were of little help. Throught the projector i am currently running: Sky TV, an Xbox 360, a laptop and a dvd player.
So, in conclusion, its great but its a little tricky to set up. Nonetheless, A+++++ Well done NEC!
Hope this helps!...

DVD Writing In My NEC of The Woods
Review of NEC MultiSpin ND-1300A by
BNibbles
Advantages: Reads practically everything. Writes to TWO formats (+RW and -RW)
Disadvantages: None so far, but disk costs make it more important not to waste any
..., unlike Betamax and VHS tapes, at least these things are all the same shape, so that, given a sufficiently versatile machine, it should be possible to read/play them all, even if you can only record one of them.
NEC ND-1300A
And this is where I FINALLY get to the point.
I’ve just bought a NEC ND-1300a DVD Re-Writer to put in my latest reincarnation of my PC. Not only can it read all the existing formats of DVD, but unlike the vast majority of its peers, it can actually write to TWO of them, not the more normal one. There is one other maker producing a similar machine at time of writing, Sony, but this is in such heavy demand that it is on very long delivery and/or higher priced.
At £220 for the retail version, complete with recording software bundle, the NEC doesn’t actually, when bought from www.dabs.com, cost much more than...

Nec = Never Even Consider it!
Review of NEC E606 by
thespurs
Advantages: Video camera and calling capability, good compared to other phones available
Disadvantages: Very big and bulky, a pain to use, generally not very good
...~Introduction~
I have had the Nec e606 for about three months now. I previously had the Motorola a835, which decided to break so I needed to replace it. The problem is that I have a contract with 3 Mobile; I think you will all sigh at that, and that means that I can only put my sim card in a 3 Mobile telephone. As if that’s not bad enough, it has to be a contract and not a pre pay phone. This is probably about the most bearable phone available on the 3 network, so I decided to purchase one on the cheap from eBay.
The phone itself was released when 3 mobile first came into being. It was, I suppose their flagship phone and also the phone by which all of its predecessors have been judged and marked against. It is still very up-to-date and technologically capable of remaining on an even footing with the new phones that companies...

Bigger IS better on NEC's 42 MP plasma range
Review of NEC 42MP 2 by
piano123
Advantages: Excellent picture with proven track record for quality and reliability
Disadvantages: Somewhat out-dated product now which is being superceeded
...Before reading any further on this review you should be aware that the above NEC 42 MP2 and NEC 42 MP3 ranges are in the process of being superceeded by NEC 42 VP4 range. So although you can still buy this screen online it will become increasingly difficult to do so. One advantage of a soon to be discontinued item is that I notice the cost on this one has come down to as little as £1,750 (inc. VAT) - half what I paid when this model first appeared on the market back in 2002. I say grab one if you can and while you still can because even against more recent advances being made on plasma, I think this is still one of the best screens around.
If you're anything like me, this will be one of the most expensive items you'll ever purchase for your home - a once in a lifetime extravegance - so you have to get it right. I spent over 6 months...

a very good attempt at an entry-level projector
Review of NEC VT470 by
sting_of_the_scorpion
Advantages: relatively cheap, good resolution, easy to set up
Disadvantages: not quite bright enough for standard room lighting
...This projector is very simple and easy to operate, if you do not like to have to read a user manual - just remove from the box, connect all the cables and power on. Adjusting the picture size and clarity takes about a minute, after playing around the lens and the menu, so really and truly, you can go from nothing to presentation in a matter of LITERALLY 2 minutes.
If you plan to use this for home theatre or for personal use, then you are going to have to get a dimmer switch on your room's lighting. For standard DVDs, the resolution is very good, but in standard lighting (neon overhead lights on a 10-foot high ceiling) the picture may seem a little washed out. Of course, video is always a little more demanding on your projector system.
Slideshows are flawless in normal light and it is possible to project a picture of a letter sized...

Make the change to TFT with the NEC Multisync
Review of NEC MultiSync LCD1760NX by
Patrinfikulo
Advantages: Fast response time; excellent image quality; sleek design
Disadvantages: Viewing from acute angles results in a poorer image; monitor button labelling
..., and then buy a second one later to double my workspace. And last, but by no means least, manufacturers are making 15 and 17" LCDs with a significantly improved screen response time (16ms), which means that playing games is an absolute pleasure on these new models.
The NEC 1760NX has both analog and DVI inputs, has a very clean, sharp design, and a thin surrounding frame (which will be useful when I buy another one to set up a dual display). It is also one of the LCDs with the fastest screen response time available. Another plus point is that the 1760NX is particularly free from glare. Most of the newer LCDs have incorporated a transparent shiny screen protector (including NEC's own 1765, the successor to the 1760). The protector allows me to work with practically no glare despite having two windows behind me in my home office - which...

NEC = Not Exactly Clever
Review of NEC 343i by
markd_uk
Advantages: Ipod-cool looks, bright screen, large buttons, long battery life
Disadvantages: No features, weak camera, poor menu selection and options
...; if you're an up-and-coming banker wanting to look the biz in the trendy London wine bar, buy Motorola; if you're an international company representative looking for something full of business applications, go with the Sony Ericsson. You won't be disappointed.
But you will be disappointed if you stray from these three giants, and that's the trouble with the NEC 343i. When my contract with Three came up for renewal I wanted to move towards Pay As You Go (simply because I just don't use the phone in that way any more) and I wanted to move away from the slightly chunky, uber-complicated Motorola E1000 that I was using. Looking around on the market for something suitable to my needs, I eventually came across the NEC 343i.
God it's good looking, in a way that reminds you of the super-successful Apple iPod. It looks simply stunning when you...

Nec E313 3G-ood
Review of NEC E313 3G by
Tortenmann
Advantages: very light, cheap, colour, camera, video calling, on the 3G network, quality phone, pay as you go
Disadvantages: bit big, clunky, made by nec, not many
...went straight ahead and brought it.
This phone is on the 3G network, so I could call people up with a 3G mobile, and they could see me, brilliant! This was also one of the first pay as you go phones from 3G that I had ever seen, and because it wasn’t on a contract, when I did buy it, it was mine.
I had always thought that 3G phones were really expensive, until I found this one. Most other 3G phones that are similar to this one are about £200 anyway, and they all do the same thing. The only difference with this one is that it’s made by NEC, and it’s a little big as well.
The phone took a couple of weeks to arrive, since Amazon didn’t have any left, so I got it eventually.
♦Open the box up ♦
I immediately opened up the box to this phone, and to my surprise, there was the phone, sitting on the top. A very large phone...
