Nec = Never Even Consider it!

Advantages: Video camera and calling capability, good compared to other phones available
Disadvantages: Very big and bulky, a pain to use, generally not very good

The problem is that I have a contract with 3 Mobile; I think you will all sigh at that, and that means that I can only put my sim card in a 3 Mobile telephone. Life after Nokia - with the NEC 338

Ideal for NEC Halls

Advantages: Great location for NEC, Large beds
Disadvantages: Restaurant small and very busy

...I used this hotel when visiting the Caravan and Boat Show in the NEC Halls and also the next day a different hall for the France exhibition. It is conveninetly located as you drive past all the halls to get to it. It would be an approx 15 minute walk from the hotel to the main halls and apparently there is a shorter route that can be taken but when I was there this was blocked up or a 2 minute trip in the car. The hotel has been extended in the last year and is very popular so it's advised to book in advance. This hotel frequently has offers on the room rates, so it's worth keeping an eye out for. The staff are very polite and friendly as soon as you walk in, checking in was very quick and efficient. DVD Writing In My NEC of The Woods

Advantages: Reads practically everything. Writes to TWO formats (+RW and -RW)
Disadvantages: None so far, but disk costs make it more important not to waste any

...that the NEC was fussy when it came to record-able media, and by implication expensive to run. I dare say anyone who is familiar with CD-RW machines will be aware that a useable blank disk may only cost 25p, whilst a reputable branded one bought singly may cost £3 or so. The world of DVD has its equivalent bargain-basement end. It?s just that it seemed that the NEC was having none of it, restricting me to branded, and therefore expensive media. One little trick I learned very early was to buy a small sample pack of DVD-R media from www.cdr-media.co.uk. Jump to LCD with NEC

Advantages: Bright & clear display. Fast update times. Great for photo editing and games!
Disadvantages: Expensive. Fiddly 'stick' control on front panel.

The second thing I learnt is that there are four main types of LCD panel: - TN + Film - IPS (superceded by Super IPS, or S-IPS) - MVA - PVA I shan't go into the details - suffice to say that if you wish to read more about them, then a quick Google for "Types of LCD panel" will return most of the information you could require. To cut a long story short though, S-IPS is the preferred type of display for photo editing because of it's wide viewing angle. Before I finally get onto the device itself, it's worth mentioning the last piece of advice that I found, which settled me upon this monitor. Apparently, the best monitors are Eizo. The NEC is a winner

Advantages: Really cheap multi function phone
Disadvantages: the 3 network, no MP3 ringtone

...I wanted a flip phone with bluetooth, built in QUALITY camera, GPS and I wanted it cheap. I checked reviews on a whole stack of flip phones and they were mainly out of my price range or on such expensive contracts there was no way I could afford them by the month. Others had some oft repeated operation problems that made me concerned as to thier useability. I found the NEC as an offer for £30 a month, one year contract with the first 10 months free...yes 10 months of a one year contract free. I worked out with this deal I would get all my calls and texts for a year for £60 PLUS the flip phone of my dreams. I read every review I could find on this phone and found none detailing anything other than sulking ex-Nokia users or folk moaning about the battery life. Well....I've never used a Nokia anyway and find myself capable...

Review of NEC E616

NE(C) Good?

Advantages: Camera, music/video player, 3G compatible
Disadvantages: Quite big, poor screem backlighting, eats the battery

...'t comment on them - sorry. The call quality is good, and sounds fairly crisp and clear, although the video calling is a bit more of an issue as you need to be in an area that is covered. Around 70% of the UK is covered according to 3, but I've noticed it can be more of how dense the walls are. I've been unable to make calls inside the houses of friends, but stepped into the back garden and been able to so I think 3 may need to note that on their documentation. So, would I recommend this phone? Sadly no. Don't get me wrong the phone has potential and some nifty features, but it's missing that certain something that makes it good. I may keep it for another couple of months and then trade it in for something else as it doesn't quite cut the mustard....

...Ever since the network 3 went live I heard nothing but complaints about the service and how dodgy the handsets are well I just brought this phone from www.thelink.co.uk on the 3 network with £15 credit as it is prepay (pay as you go) all for an amazing £35 (with £10 trade in) I traded my old Nokia 5110 which was just sitting their collecting dust. IN THE BOX You get a fairly large box branded with the phone and the 3 logo and when you open the box the handset is sitting on the top and when you lift the top part of the box under there is the documents and accessories you should get:- 1X NEC e313 3G handset 2X Rechargeable batteries (YES TWO!!) 1X Two piece charging adapter 1X Mono hands free kit (also to listen to music) 1X 3G Three Sim card 1X Set of instruction manual All this for £35 now you try saying no) SETTING UP...
