...This place is simply the best hotel and holiday I have ever, ever had. Now I could leave it at that but I expect you want a bit more information to as why? The Riu Club Hotel Negril (also refferred to as Riu Negril) is all inclusive so you don't need to worry about paying while away. Please remember if you go to Jamaica they charge you to leave the country at the airport. The cheapest way to do this is to take Jamaican dollars. It works out about £10 stirling each. However if you pay in US dollars it equates to about £15 stirling or if you pay stirling it works out around £13. We took the Jamaican dollars and just kept them to one side. Oh go on then.... Probably Best sunsets in Jamaica

Advantages: Sun, sunsets, rum, beaches
Disadvantages: Hassle from vendors, not a lot of attractions

...Intro Negril is a tourist town on the NW of the island of Jamaica. Numerous hotels of all sizes and budgets are located along this, essentially one street town. You'll also find a never ending assortment of bars, cafes and restaurants, many located right on the beach. Getting Here Chances are if you fly into Jamaica, you'll land in Montego Bay. Negril is located about and hour and a half to the West. Your choices are transport are light aircraft, taxi or hire car. You can also get a bus but it doesn't go directly from the airport. A one way 15 minute flight with TimAir will cost you around $70 each. A private taxi can be bargained with, it'll probably cost you $50 or so. Nookie in Negril - with a bit for Peter Smyth

Advantages: Better beach than Ochos Rios
Disadvantages: hotels either side of you

...definitely recommend the flight - far better than the bus journey. In fact, if you were put off by my description of the bus journey Couples will arrange flight transfers at an extra charge at either end of your holiday, but although the aerial views of the country are spectacular you will miss out on seeing at close range the country which you are visiting. Our flight stopped off at Montego Bay en route where we changed aircraft and then it flew on again to Negril. At Negril we were met by the hoards of taxi drivers trying to give us lifts and drug dealers tempting us with their wares (NB it is illegal to possess cannabis in Jamaica so don't get caught if you are tempted) but we knew that Couples would be providing a bus. They needn't have bothered in reality as the hotel was no more than 50 yards along the road - if only we had known...

Couples Negril

Advantages: Everything - its an amazing place!
Disadvantages: None that we encountered, although we heard it wasn't safe to venture out into Negril on your own.

...My husband and I went to Couples Negril for our honeymoon last year - we did a two resort holiday, the first week at Couples Negril and the second at Couples Ocho Rios. Of the two, we preferred Couples Negril. This place is amazing! From the moment we got on the courtesy bus from the airport, and our leader stopped off at a petrol station to pick up some Red Stripe for everyone!, to the minute we left, we were treated like royalty. The Jamaicans are so friendly, they can't do enough for you. The standard rooms are really nice - I can only imagine how lovely the deluxe ones must be! You can see the beach from all rooms (it seemed) and most overlook the gardens/wedding gazebo. ...Sandals, the ultimate in all inclusives, Has always had a fascination for me. Right from the time I saw the first glossy adverts in the Sunday papers to now even after having spent two weeks in Sandals Negril. Right from walking into the travel agents here the whole process was very easy, except of course parting with the money. Tickets all arrived with more glossy photos within two weeks and everything had been thought of everything even down to travel insurance. PARADISE FOUND

Advantages: 7 MILES OF BEACH AT YOUR DOORSTEP
Disadvantages: HAD TO COME HOME

...Seven miles of the best beach I have seen and MINE all MINE for 7 days! When my friend Seveen (at Jamaicans.com) invited me to celebrate her half-a-century, it sounded the perfect place to go, especially on a winters day in February. I booked with Air Jamaica who has direct flights to Montego Bay, whereas the other airlines went to Kingston. Then I booked transport to Negril from JUTA via their online juta.com which gave me a $5 US discount each way. I was worried that I was going to be late getting to Heathrow airport, but when I got to the Air J desk I was the only one waiting - another great reason to fly them. (Plus none of their flights from the UK westward have been cancelled recently either!) And imagine my smile when they announced the Champagne flight - yes! Free Champagne, wine, beer, rum all the way there...

Couples Negril

Advantages: Service, Style and Quality
Disadvantages: Adult only

...I have been to this hotel twice and am due to go back for the third time! It really is All Inclusive from the moment you step off the plane and stroll to the in airport couples lounge for your first drink, to the shuttle to your hotel, and resort excursions. The service here is warm, friendly and attentive without being in your face or imposing. The rooms are well furnished and comfortable and I loved leaving my case at reception only for it to appear at my door a few minutes later, no tip require (or allowed) the resort is not too big and the beach here is stunning, I loved the red flag system on the beach to get your drink refreshed. If you want quality, style and service I would recommend Couples Negril every time....

CHILL OUT

Advantages: A terrific way to unwind and chill out
Disadvantages: All cities have their rough spots, just be careful

...Jamaica, one thinks of the movie 'Cocktail'. I went to Negril and stayed outside of the hotel complexes. (Not by choice). Anyway, a few disasters happened where the person I went with got mugged etc. etc. and wasn't pleasant. Any traveller would know not to go wandering off by yourself in complete darkness in an area that you have no knowledge of, this is the major rule here. When they say to you to try and not leave the complex, that is a word of warning. Although anybody that harasses you would be arrested almost instantly, there is still a danger and always will be a danger, in any country! Jamaica was lovely and I found the people to be charming, the beaches are dreamy and the water is nice and warm. The lobster is absolutely yummy and the nightlife.. Well I didn't go there because I would've been on my own. When...
