...This next review is on one of my favourite day time soaps, I figured I would write about it because of its new highly publicized move from BBC1 to channel five this month. Yup this review is on the Australian hit soap Neighbours, which was first, launched in 1985, and in 2005 celebrated its 20th anniversary. From a very young age, neighbours was watched in my household, my mother was a huge fan of it, and use to watch the evening show, having been at work during the daytime. It was something different and out of the norm, compared to the usual soaps such as Eastenders, and Coronation Street. The storylines were fresh, juicy and well funny at times. ...Everybody needs good Neighbours One of my favourite Australian export shows is Neighbours and I have been a fan ever since I was a child, well over twenty years, as it first began airing in Australia in 1985 and in England in 1986! It is now shown on channel 5 in England. The show revolves around Ramsay Street in the fictional Australia town of Erinsborough. Ramsay street is a cul-de-sac which enables the residents to pop into each other?s houses with relative ease and generally live up to their reputations as nosy neighbours. ...Official Neighbours Tour When I was in Melbourne I decided to go and see the Neighbours sets and areas they film at. When I was younger I loved the show and had got back into watching it in the time I was living in Australia. **ITINERARY** We booked the tour in the YHA hostel and I was disappointed they did not pick us up here. Instead we had to walk about 25 minutes down to their offices to check in at the Neighbours reception. In the leaflet we were promised a free souvenir gift which we never received. We jumped onto a really worn bus with a rather uncomfortable seat. The tour guide informed us they were getting a new bus. Unfortunately this was no advantage to us. Neighbours

Advantages: Refreshing soap - always sunny there!
Disadvantages: Some bad actors in it

...Introduction ~~ Despite it being famous for unbelievably bad acting which has actually got better in recent years Neighbours has always been a firm favourite soap for teenagers. Although Neighbours has never just appealed to teenagers and young people, it has approached issues that do not affect young people and teenagers but usually old people. For example Madge's brave battle against cancer. Storylines ~~ Storylines in Neighbours have varied hugely. From typical soap affairs to car crashes to characters caught cheating in class to jobs being on the line its all happened in Neighbours. Abuse your neighbour

Advantages: Shows people how not to behave, the occasional laugh
Disadvantages: Offensive, not that funny for a comedy

...brought out with the aim of showing those with racist tendencies the error of their ways. In the process though, it was felt necessary to show Eddie Booth, the most racist of all the characters, in all his glory, insulting Eddie for the colour of his skin at every turn. In his defence, Bill is almost as bad, but as it is Eddie that starts up every argument, the blame lies with him in my mind. I don't think that there is much doubt that Love Thy Neighbour would not pass the censors in this day and age. Insults fired at Bill by Eddie include: 'sambo', 'chocolate drop', 'nig nog', 'choc ice'...the list goes on. Even more insulting is the manner in which the insults are delivered, as if there is no doubt in Eddie's mind, which of course there isn't, that he is right and non-whites are stupid and incompetent. Bill flings a few barbs back...

Disadvantages: Not on enough times per day. We want 2 episodes per day!!

...Neighbours is like Marmite, but more Marmitey. you either love it far too much, or don't see what the fuss is about. I love it, despite the ludicrous storylines, random characters, and the ridiculously fast-paced way of life in the Street, where, in the real world, no-one would know what the hell was going on half the time. Still, every day at 5:35 i drop everything and head for the tv. Without fail. The Situation. Advantages: Mindless entertainment
Disadvantages: A bit addictive - you have to know what happens next!

...-----My Neighbours Experience----- There are already quite a lot of reviews on Neighbours on Ciao, so why should you read mine? Well, I have been watching Neighbours since the age of 8 (I'm currently 24) and I have seen the show go through some highs and lows! Although I have to describe myself as a fan, I feel that I am able to give an objective view point, as part of my enjoyment of the show surrounds its unbelievability/lack of relation to anything like real life. I hope you find my review informative and enjoyable! The Show Neighbours started way back in 1985 in Australia and despite a couple of early wobbles and channel change, it has been running ever since. What NOT to call your neighbour!

Advantages: Rudolph Walker is great, mocks those that are racist
Disadvantages: The racist language (from both sides) is hard to take at times

The Neighbours Might Be Pleased!

...Girls aloud were created by ITV1 talent show Popstars and are a relatively successful British Pop band. 'What will the neighbours say?' is their second album released in 2004. The band consists of 5 female members who are very funky, fresh and pretty. I am going to review this album giving each track a rating out of five. 1. The Show (3.38) 4/5 This is a great track to open the album with it is a very catchy pop song which makes you want to get up and dance. The beat is very quick and it will get you tapping your foot in no time. The song is about someone having their heart broken and they feel that they should have tried harder in their relationship. ...I think it's a little unfair how some people bag out Neighbours, if they just would take it for what it is, A programme for you to take a little time out of your own life. The storylines may not be to real to life, but that's just part of the fun, it's nice seeing new faces come and go, and who will be kissing who next week . so if you find your life a little depressing at times, put a little Neighbours in your life . it's not the worst programme on t.v , not matter what people say . i will keep on enjoying it for all the time it will be on .
