The best way to upgrade your pentium
Review of Evergreen Spectra 400 - AMD K6-2 400 MHz processor by mrbibbly

Advantages: Easy to install,Lifetime guarantee and support, damn fast processor
Disadvantages: Not suitable for beginners

...I had an old Pentium 100mhz CPU computer, which I inherited, and it seemed a tad slow (for good reason!).I had seen this upgrade available at various mail-order firms and saw that it was available for socket 7 motherboards,at Pentium 75mhz upwards. The upgrade itself is a AMD-K62 400mhz processor with heat sink and fan.It has instruction sheets and the necessary disks to alter your BIOS and to benchmark both your old and new processor speeds. I found it relatively easy to install, after following the instructions.Considering I had no motherboard manual,I was relatively pleased with the ease of installation. It has a lifetime guarantee and lifetime phone technical help. I had to phone the technical support once, they were very helpful and useful, and resolved my problem quickly. If you want your old pentium to be up to 400% faster... Read review

M 7400
Review of Fujitsu Siemens AMILO M-7400 - Pentium M 1.7 GHz - 15" TFT by leontata

Advantages: Nice design
Disadvantages: No DVD reader or writer

...Over all, this is a nice laptop. Slim and sharp design by Fujitsu Siemens Amilo makes it much thinner than it actually is. Intel Pentium M 1.7Ghz, Front Side Bus 400 Mhz seems not to be very powerful but it is not slow at all. Games like Counter Strike or Warcraft will have no problem. I've tried running Counter Strike at 1024x748 and the result was awsome, 99 frames per second. However, the mainboard and Bios are quite old. Intel 82855 doesn't support extending memory bandwidth for its Intel Extreme 2 Graphic Card like others do. 512 Mb PC2100 Ram doesn't seem to fit with the processor as its speed only at 266 Mhz. Replacing a new pair of Ram at 333 Mhz or 400 Mhz will give this laptop much more ability in multitasking and more chance to avoid crash. The keyboard is also really nice, comportable, hard button and support with lots... Read review

Review of AMD Athlon XP 2400+ 266FSB by natmat

Advantages: lower price & reability
Disadvantages: no documentation

...the AMD ATHLON XP 2400 is one of the best cpu from AMD for full compliance it's better to get a 266mhz memory velocity and mother board @266 fsb minimum as a 0,13 micron technology you can get your application faster than ever in comparaison the athlon xp2400 mhz encode and decode wma files(windows media) file than p4 2200 if using memory @ 333mhz welcome to overcloking your processor can be place at 2800 mhz as athlon xp3000+ without problem the power of A xp has a very hight temperature and need specialized CPU cooler there are some good models as zalman and igloo cooler firm although die temperature is 85 grad. celcius it can use up to 65.30 w as max power it means a 300w corpus will be welcome for it mother board on kt400 nforce 2 are optimum for this cpu we tried it on a server machine with mother board Gygabite on Raid... not just looks
Review of Apple iMAC Indigo - PPC G3 500 MHz - 15" CRT by martyn4764

Advantages: Ease of use, user-friendliness, connectivity, I could go on and on!
Disadvantages: bit more expensive, sofware slightly harder to find

...I've used Macs since 1990, and ever since have had to listen to people using the old, "Well, it looks great, but...". Sorry, just doesn't wash. Intel's MHz-centric advertising should be tackled by Apple (I believe the comparison to be something like a 400MHz Mac equates to a 600MHz Intel?), but come on - if you use both systems, you will appreciate the differences when it comes to: installing software, connecting peripherals, networking, connecting to the net, troubleshooting, you name it... I have a computer-related job, but I am happy to think of Macs as the tool for people who want to get things done WITH a computer, rather than spend all day wondering what's gone wrong with their computer! Attractive, sure, but also fast, reliable, networkable, (relatively) future-proofed, better technical support (try getting any help from Micro... Read review

New super MB from ABIT
Review of Abit Socket 370 VH6 - motherboard - ATX - Pro133A by skul

Advantages: All new features, possibility of use all Intel Socket 370 CPU's, built-in quality sound
Disadvantages: none

...This new motherboard from ABIT support both Intel Celeron and Pentium III FCPGA (Coppermine) processors. Based on VIA Appolo Pro 133A chipset, this ATX formfactor motherboard have 1 AGP 4x, 5 PCI and 1 ISA slots. Also equipped with Yamaha sound chip with software midi syntesizer and 2 IDE IDMA/66 ports. I bought this motherboard week ago and very pleased by its design, quality and performance. Very good for overclocking and stable in any Windows applications (both Me and 2000). My Celeron 400 MHz work at 500 Mhz (83MHZx6) without any problems also in games like Need for Speed 5 and Unreal Tournament. So, this mainboard include all new features and is the best choice for home use (especially due to possibility of CPU's upgrade up to 1GHz).... Read review

Apple macintosh G4/400
Review of Apple Power Mac G4 - PPC G4 450 MHz by Flengmeister

Advantages: VERY FAST!
Disadvantages: No floppy drive, DVD playback issues

...I have recently purchased a new Apple Macintosh G4/400, using the new Sawtooth motherboard configuration. I previously owned an old PowerMac and am VERY impressed with the new machine. It comes complete with a pretty high specification for the money (10gb/64mb/400mhz). Many PC userd will be wondering how a 400mhz processor can be anywhere near as fast as a Pentium with 900mhz+ of processing power?? Well, the Macintosh uses a completely different system, a PowerPC processor and tests can prove that these are much faster. It is fairly safe to say that Macintosh produce the fastest 'home user' computers available today. One gripe I do have is the exclusion of a floppy disk drive. I know that these will soon not be in use and they are low capacity e.t.c BUT PEOPLE STILL USE THEM! I often need to transfer work between computers and am now... Read review

Geforce 4 Ti 4600, a dream make it real.
Review of NVIDIA Geforce4 MX by Dukecrack

Advantages: The most powerfull graphic card, multiple outputs.
Disadvantages: Is very expensive.

...Hi all, I am Spanish and this is my first opinion in Ciao UK. First of all i want to sorry about my english, i will try to write my best and i would like that you help me telling me if my english is good and how to improve it ( i can help you with the Spanish if needed ). Well, this opinon is about the graphic card Geforce 4 Ti 4600. First of all, we can say that this is the most powerfull card nowadays and the only problem is the high price ( about 400 pounds ) that makes that only a few people can buy it. This module includes the NV25 nVidia's GPU which clock speed is 300 MHz for the core and 650 MHz for the 128 MB of DDR RAM memory integrated. This card has three video outputs ( digital DVI, analog and SVHS ) and includes and aditionally DVI to VGA conversor to obtain an analog output from the digital one. This is without dude... I aint cheap, but this is ridiculous
Review of Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz processor by GENIUS

Advantages: Good reliable, and good performance
Disadvantages: too pricey

...Bill Gates is the richest geezer in the world, so why does he have to make even more money, he can't spend what he has already got. He is a money grabbing, cash stealing psycho. OK, his software and processors etc are exceptional, the speed and performance is brilliant, including the new pentium iv, but why does he have to charge so much. I have recently bought a new computer with a thunderbird 750 mhz processor and it is brilliant, the performance matches that pentium stuff, but guess what, it only cost be £400, for the whole computer. Don't buy pentium, go for cheaper makes, that perform just as well, in the end (if we all do that) Bill will realise that he is a twat and will lower his prices.... Read review
