...I had heard good things about Netbook computers - basic, lightweight laptops running starter versions of Windows 7. So I researched the possibilities, advised by my son who was, at first, rather sceptical. He told me it would be slow, and that Windows 7 would be difficult to use (since my main computer is a Mac). Okay cheap netbook
Advantages: Small, light, decent battery life, cheap, does everything you would expect
Disadvantages: Noisy, can be slow, Microsoft starter version only, no DVD drive

Nifty netbook
Advantages: Great battery life, compact and light
Disadvantages: No CD/DVD drive, speakers poor quality
...or comfortable for me, and so I sought a lighter, smaller option for the purpose of lugging back and forth to campus, and bought the Emachines eM250 netbook.
