...Following on from my review of the Belkin wireless router, this is the piece of kit at the other end of the link. The PCI Desktop Card is whats required to allow the PC to communicate with the router.
This product cost me £25 when I bought it. I was interested in the Belkin wireless router, so I played safe and used the same manufacturer for both items that would allow the router and my PC talk to each other.
--Whats in the box--
On opening the box, there were no real surprises. There was the PCI card, the antenna, a quick installation guide and a CD which contained the drivers and a full manual.

My Wireless Adventure Continues
Advantages: Easy installation, good connectivity
Disadvantages: Slower speeds than expected
...and disconnects, but I have yet to have this experience. Although the signal is less than half the maximum strength it has never disconnected on me.
I'm very pleased so far with my adventure into networking the whole set up was quick and simple. Certainly the Netgear brand made this an easy experience. A previous brands attempts by myself to set up a network failed miserably for me and was very complex to set up. With Netgear you can have everything up and running in less than 20 minutes.
Straightforward guidance
In order to set up a wireless home network of two PC's you need the following:-
A Wireless Router Argos Price £69.99-£99.99 for the Netgear products.
A Wireless PC card Argos price £29.99-£49.99 again for Netgear products.
If you do not have a slot for a Wireless PC card which is a slot generally the size of 5 credit cards...

Netgear WPN824 Wireless router
Advantages: Wireless and Wired connections, easy to install
Disadvantages: Blue ring of light can be annoying, but can also be turned off!
...I have recently exchanged my Belkin router for the Netgear WPN824 as I was experiencing regular disconnections with my Belkin and found their customer support was not very good.
I opted for the Netgear after various recommendations from friends and reading the reviews on ciao.
The Netgear has a nice sleek, modern looking design and has a ring of Blue LEDs on the top that flash/rotate when connected wirelessly. Personally, I find these be a little annoying at night because they are quite bright but they can easily be turned off via a switch on the back. It also comes with stands so it can be put in an upright position. It has some nice green flashing lights on the front to show when each computer is connected to it and wether it has internet connection (as most routers do).
This model has a wireless connection speed of 108mbps...
