Review of NETGEAR WGPS606 54 Mbps Wireless Print Server with 4-Port Switch - bridge by
ilaskey
Advantages: Nice looking, good selection of features
Disadvantages: Can be tricky to set up, no support for bi-directional printers
...The WGPS606 is an unusual combination of a bridge with a four port switch plus a wireless print server. What does that do for you? Good question!
Most people would want this for its wireless print function, more on that later. The WGPS606's other feature is that it can act as a bridge allowing you to add wireless connections to an existing wired network. It also sports 4 network ports for adding more wired devices to it.
On the wireless side it supports both 802.11b and 802.11g as well as the proprietry Netgear RangeMax standard. It also copes fine with both WEP and WPA-PSK encryption, the latter being more secure and should be used if at all possible.
The device's main selling point though is its ability to let PCs communicate with a printer wirelessly. The device has 2 USB ports allowing you to connect and use two different printers...

Switch goes up; Switch goes down
Review of NETGEAR FM114P Cable/DSL ProSafe 802.11b Wireless Firewall - wireless router by
LegendaryMrDude
Advantages: Solid Construction, Good Warranty, Great Software
Disadvantages: Reliability, Reliability, Reliability
...It may sound corny, but Broadband has changed the face of home computing. For one thing it's had a huge impact on the sales of home-office grade network equipment. Add to this the fact that wireless network finally came of age, and vendors like Belkin, NetGear and LinkSys are laughing all the way to the bank.
I will hold up my hand at this point and admit to the fact that I did my bit to line the coffers of NetGear (obviously). With an increasing tendency towards home-working, I wanted the flexibility of wireless access to my broadband internet conenction, but I wanted it to be secure. I also wanted the flexibility of a built-in switch for connecting the various other computers in my house together. And of course it had to support my company VPN solution. If it could offer the added benefit of acting as a print-server then I...

Computers in one room, Printers in another.
Review of Belkin 802.11g Wireless Print Server by
Snorelax63
Advantages: Computers in one room, Printers in another.
Disadvantages: None I can think of.
...It states on the box --- BEFORE YOU BUY this product be sure you have a wireless router. --- I bought mine from Argos and it cost £49.99
We have 3 laptops at home and they all connect to our network wirelessly. if we wanted to print anything we had to physically hook up to a printer which more often than not was most inconvenient.
The Belkin Wireless G USB Print Server allows up to 2 USB printers to be connected. (you cannot add more printers via a USB hub.) Though it's a wireless print server it still comes with an Ethernet Cable so you can physically connect it to your router. If you choose this method of connection then the wireless function is automatically disabled.
Before you can use a printer via the print server you need to physically install it on each computer you are planning to access it from. (You do not set...

Very good cross-platform ADSL router
Review of NETGEAR MR314 - wireless router by
pulcinella2uk
Advantages: Cross-platform, works well
Disadvantages: Manual is very weak
...PLEASE READ
-----------
This review concerns a
NETGEAR WIRELESS ROUTER DG824M - NOT the MR314
-----------
I use a NETGEAR WIRELESS ROUTER DG824M to share internet connection wirelessly between a Mac laptop & a PC laptop.
It wasn't difficult to configure - just follow the instructions strictly. It's just that the instructions aren't the easiest to follow. The setup is configured through a web browser (performed offline), and once done enables it to work perfectly. Now, everytime either computer is turned on it is automatically on the net. I've even walked onto the street with a webcam without loss of connection.
It replaced my BT supplied Alcatel ADSL modem which was absolutely awful. Everytime I logged off the internet I had to shut down my computer otherwise my computer would crash. Buying the Netgear ADSL router has totally...

Review of NETGEAR WGR614 54 Mbps Wireless Router - wireless router by
phoenix221984
Advantages: Easy to set up and use
Disadvantages: May have speed issues until firmware upgrade
...The Netgear WGR614 uses the standard 802.11g and can deliver speeds of up to 54 Mbps. It is a delight to setup using the smart wizard option and very easy to use. You can get it from most electrical or computer retailers. It is compatible with all 802.11g and 802.11b wireless cards and networks
It allows you to set up your own wireless (cable-free) home network so that you can share your cable internet and printing facilities with other computers or laptops in your home that have either built in wireless or an external wireless card. It is compatible with all 802.11b wireless networks and cards.
SETTING THE ROUTER UP
With the router you get the option to use SmartWizard, this is ideal for someone who has never set one up before. When you run it, it will automatically detect and configure your wireless router for practically all of your...

Freedom or free surfing for the neighbours?
Review of NETGEAR DG824M Wireless ADSL Modem Gateway - wireless router by
grovej
Advantages: Easy to setup and manage
Disadvantages: Range not exceptional
...fairly simple with the standard options being available, hide SSID, 128bit WEP, and MAC address restrictions. As with all wireless systems even with WEP and MAC restrictions ulitmatly it could be comprimised so the choice to use it is yours.
Moving on to some of the other features of the router, it offers a stateful firewall with the capability to present virtual servers, so you can host a web server behind it with ease. The router offers a DHCP server which is useful and address's can be reserved according to the MAC address of the connecting device. There is also the option to block certain URL's by keyword, ideal if you have children that you want to block from certain sites. The router also supports uPNP if you are running windows XP, this can be enabled.
The Netgear support site is good with firmware updates being published as and when...

All You Need From a Router
Review of NETGEAR WPN824 RangeMax Wireless Router - wireless router - with NETGEAR WPN111 RangeMax Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter by
Surj1
Advantages: Slim Design, Wi-Fi, Simple Set-up
Disadvantages: Faster processing
...I got this router last year from pc world. It included a USB wireless adapter.
I think the router represents good value, despite its high price, and it's well worth considering for those in the market for a device with excellent range and strong resistance to interference.
The basic setup routine for the Netgear RangeMax router is a simple and straightforward process that takes only a few minutes. A bundled CD includes a setup wizard that automatically loads when you insert the disc into your computer's optical drive; this then guides you through a short series of on-screen prompts. If you're an advanced user, you can bypass the wizard and connect directly to the RangeMax's browser-based configuration tool. A handy URL that's clearly listed on the printed setup guide points your computer's browser directly to the tool.
The Wi...

Netgear WGR614 54 Mbps Wireless Router
Review of NETGEAR WGR614 54 Mbps Wireless Router - wireless router by
OllyBacon
Advantages: Easy setup, great customer support, good price
Disadvantages: None
...In short: Excellent router, easy to set up and good support from Netgear.
I bought this modem router from Ebay to set up a wireless home network. Depsite paying AOL money each month and seeing new customers getting this router for free we were told that we would still have to purchase it separately. As this was one of the AOL compatible routers I plumped for it due to Netgear's good name.
The router was installed easyily and using AOL software from their site my main computer was up and running using an ethernet cable. We did have a couple of problems setting up our two laptops to work wirelessly but one short call to Netgear and that was all sorted out. If you don't have laptops with built in wireless capability I would recommend getting the compatible wireless adapters from Netgear, these also are installed very easily. Even though...

Can Netgear do any wrong
Review of Netgear WG511T Super-G Wireless PC Card by
christiandransfield
Advantages: Easy setup. Very reliable
Disadvantages: Sticks out from laptop and could easily be broken
...After buying the Netgear DG834G wireless router I needed to replace my laptop's broken internal wireless card with an external card and went for the Netgear products. At £40 it was quite expensive. However, for a future proof 108mbps card, you're not going to need to change the card in a long time. Installation was even more simple than for the DG834G, which was hardly taxing. After installing the software supplied on the cd, the card automatically found and connected to the router's network. The signal strength is very high when quite far from the router. In my bedroom (router downstairs) I can get a signal strength of around 60% with two 3ft walls in the way!
This card is yet another success story for Netgear who it seems would need to try hard not to produce a high quality, reliable product.
If you need a wireless card, you need one...
