Excellent network camera - if you can find one!
Review of Panasonic KX HCM10 by
kxhcm10
Advantages: Impressive number of features, very easy to use
Disadvantages: Almost impossible to find a UK retailer, quite expensive
...I spent nearly half a year trying to find a UK stockist of Panasonic's KX-HCM10 Network Camera after first seeing another brand of ethernet cameras, and wanting one which had the Pan and Tilt control features which the KXHCM10 has, so decided to go for Panasonic's camera after reading the manuals on their website and seeing several demo cameras around the world from a search of Google.
The camera connects via ethernet meaning it simply plugs in to your existing wired network, and has a built in webserver, which not only allows you to change the settings via the web, but also provides end users the controls to view and move the camera - 160 degrees horizontally, and about 60 degrees up and down. There's also the option to have the camera take a picture at pre-set times or when triggered by the external I/O terminal on the site (good...

SPEED CAMERAS, Brakes, What Brakes..
Review of Speed Cameras by
nadams
Advantages: Catch dangerous drivers
Disadvantages: Very unpopular
...not experienced again, special design features were included. This generation of cameras were designed with connections to a national network, which, when a driver is caught, would take a photo, and then send a photo digitally to the main headquarters.
Digital technology was also applied to some of the original generation of speed cameras, thus vastly reducing the manpower required to replace the films. However, again, the use of websites provided motorists with knowledge as to where all cameras are.
As a result, newer technologies were applied to mobile devices, and recent months have seen introductions of a new device even more useful than the original mobile handheld unit.
The newer mobile devices are mounted on tripods, in front of unmarked police cars, and simply monitor moving traffic, automatically monitoring and logging all speeding...

To network or not to network????
Review of Cisco Certified Networking Course by
cokemusic2009
Advantages: can get you a very well paid job!, world wide
Disadvantages: alot of info to take in, can get very confusing!
...First of all, What is Cisco?
Cisco is a networking course, which is split into four parts, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) 1, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) 2, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) 3, and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) 4. In each CCNA, there are around 15 online mini tests which helps you to pass the final exam. In my Cisco class, we aim to do 1 mini test a week, and on the final test for each CCNA part, we must obtain, 70% or more, for a pass.
Cisco in general teaches you how to connect two or more personal computers to each other and enable them to communicate, which can be used to share a internet connection, share printers, to send files, or even have a massive game, against all your mates! which is also known as a LAN party!
Types of networks
There are many types of networks...

FastCAT5e Networking Cable
Review of Belkin FastCAT network cable - 10 m by
kelr101
Advantages: Quick Installation, Colour co-oridinated, Fast Speeds
Disadvantages: Price Varied
...*Company History*
Belkin, based in Compton, California, are one of the world’s leading manufacturers of peripherals and connectivity in the computer industry. Their products are designed for home and business users and cover a large range including: USB Hubs, LAN and Wireless devices and cables, Networking Hardware and accessories, and Computer and audio-visual cables.
*Category 5 Cables - Networking*
With respect to my personal circumstances I found myself considering Belkin's range of products when I was in need of a networking cable.
A Network set up is a group of two or more computers linked together. There are several networking groups, including LAN (Local Area Network), whereby the computers are geographically close together.
My home LAN Network set up originally consisted of two Personal Computers (PC...

Belkin wireless G USB Network Adaptor
Review of Belkin Wireless G USB Network Adapter Network adapter by
Chosen
Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Not enough information on software or packaging.
...I recently bought a Belkin wireless adaptor when I went into a house share and needed to have the internet. I use the internet but I know little about the technical side of things. I paid £19.99 for the adaptor in PC world who only had Belkin at the time which I thought was not expensive. However installing it was a nightmare.
The 3 easy steps on the box seemed so easy; Install the software, plug the adaptor into a USB PORT - start networking! If only it was that simple. Every time my computer searched for a network it crashed. I phoned the Belkin company who took me step by step through the technical part and still we could not get internet. Eventually the Belkin assistant told my for some reason my computer was not recognising the new network. Being increasingly frustrated I considered taking the adaptor back for a refund...

Speed up your network
Review of 3Com Gigabit Server NIC Network adapter by
paranoidcookie
Advantages: Fast excellent buld and drivers
Disadvantages: Price
...Recently Ive become involved in an armature computer games event which means my computer is oft used for high peen LAN games I felt it might be worth increasing the network speed a bit by upgrading the network card.
Generic Network interface cards (NICs) seem to have taken over recently however I always have a soft spot for 3com's card the 10/100 3c905 range was the among the most stable fast range of PCI interface cards ever I thought I would try out the new breed of card.
I bought my card "new" from ebay for £10 plus delivery, generic 1000mb card can be bought for around this price new from most PC resellers.
The Package
**************
The package arrived sealed in a 3com cardboard box inside which was the NIC in a plastic wrapping the driver cdrom and a warranty manual. It also had a brief guide swing how to insert...

Stable and reliable network adaptor
Review of Intel PRO/100 Network adapter by
baldloaf
Advantages: Easy installation, no maintenance required
Disadvantages: None
...I have been using this network adaptor in my desktop PC running windows 98se for just under a year now and have since had no problems at all with it.
The network adaptor is very easy to install.
- open up your desktop PC
- pick a vacant PCI slot (the white plastic strips with a void down the centre to fit the card in)
NOTE:
Try not to use the first slot as this might cause an IRQ conflict with your graphics card. This Intel adaptor is usually very good at handling IRQ conflicts anyway and you shouldn't have any problems unlike some other adaptors in which you have to keep trying each slot to see which one it 'gets on with' the most.
- switch on your PC (after closing the PC case again)
- windows should immediately detect the new device and install the appropriate drivers (no need to even use the driver CD or floppy disk supplied...
