Little wireless receiver
Review of Belkin Wireless High Speed Mode USB Adapter Network adapter by
greatmum1
Advantages: Good connectivity
Disadvantages: none significant
...We recently changed from wired connection to wireless Broadband after much debate. The demand for computer use, sharing of computer time was becoming a big hassle and going wireless and networking the main PC and Laptops seemed to be a viable solution.
Belkin Wireless High Speed Mode USB Adapter Network adapter connects with a PC or Laptop to pick up signals sent by a Wireless router. This network adapter is external and will fit into (plugged to) a USB 2.0 port.
Many broadband providers will supply a free router (or a router at a subsidised price), but with a Router but you will need a networking card or an adapter to go wireless.
The manufacturer of Belkin USB network adapter gives the Data Transfer Rate: 54 Mbps and this is seen as the speed most of the time. If you wish to have higher speed- wireless is not an option use USB...

Affordable wireless adapter.
Review of Belkin Wireless G USB Network Adapter Network adapter by
DragonflyWales
Advantages: Wireless connectivity - Supplied with stand - Fast data transfer - Good Price
Disadvantages: Temperamental Software, Stand Falls Over - Installation hit & miss
...I currently have 3 of these adapters installed at my home connecting 3 PC's wirelessly to a BT Voyager2500V Router.
I purchased the first one after suffering months of problems with an intermittent broadband connection using an extension cable.
The adapter comes well packaged in a far larger box than is necessary (minus points for environmental responsibility) and is supplied complete with software drivers, software to manage the wireless network, a desktop stand for the adapter and an instruction sheet.
1st impressions were that the build quality is adequate although with the adapter being very light the stand could definitely have done with being heavier.
I have never installed a network before but the installation sheet made all seem very straightforward.
1. Install Software.
2. Plug in adapter when prompted.
3. Away to go...

Excellent and fast wireless adapter
Review of Buffalo AirStation WLI-U2-KG54 by
beanp-271
Advantages: Fast setup, works with vista, easy connection
Disadvantages: none
...This is probably one of the best, and most simple to use wireless adapters there is. It connects to your computer via a USB 2.0 port or the USB 1.1, and the driver CD loads up straight away. It is simple to set up, and you can choose whether to use Windows own connection manager, or Buffalo's Client Manager V. You can connect to a wireless network almost straight away, even the ones protected with passwords. It is 54Mbps, thats 5 times faster than the standard 802.11b wireless. It also supports AOSS, and the one touch secure setup button. The password protected wireless networks that this adapter supports, are WPA and 128/64-Bit WEP. I am currently using the WEP and unlike some wireless adapters, you can save the passcode for the networks, so you don't have to enter it evrytime you want to connect. Includes full support for Windows...

The speedy GS605
Review of NETGEAR GS605 5-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch - switch - 5 ports by
adehh
Advantages: Looks great, performs well, easily installed
Disadvantages: Gigabit networking is unavoidably expensive
...-12 seconds, which would have taken nearly a minute on a 100M network. So when I'm transferring files of around 3 GB I really do see the benefit of the gigabit network.
When I first saw gigabit Ethernet coming into the home market I always thought to myself why bother with that, it's too fast. But as technology continues on advancing we are requiring more and more storage space for larger files, which often need to be transferred between computers and networks!
For anyone who requires that little bit of extra speed in the home and is also ready for the extra cost a gigabit network brings by all means go and ahead and this product, it's stylish and performs its job flawlessly.
**Putting Satisfactory for manufacturer support as I've had no dealings with Netgear concerning this product.**...

Freedom of cables to connect your PS2 or Xbox
Review of Linksys Wireless-B Game Adapter WGA11B by
Batch
Advantages: Picks up any wireless Internet connection, works well with PS2, LAN play as well
Disadvantages: None
...Ever wanted to get your PS2 online and connected without having to connect with a cable from your PS2 in, say, your bedroom and the router or modem is downstairs? Well you can.
The Linksys Wireless Gaming Adapter is the only thing you need to play online gaming on. What this accessory can do is genius. With this accessory plugged in and connected to your network adapter, you can use it to play LAN games if there is another one of these adapters around the building for head-to-head games via a LAN channel. If you prefer to play over the Internet and play against the world, then that can be done too!!
The adapter can effortlessly connect a PS2 console or Xbox console to give it wireless network capabilities and there is two ways of doing this:-
1. If you have an existing home wireless network setup with a Broadband connection...

Such a simple idea!
Review of Devolo MicroLink dLAN Ethernet - bridge by
adamdavid
Advantages: Quick, simple, fuss free system
Disadvantages: Your on your own setting up the computers!
...that every home already has a wired network installed - your home's electrical system. Devolo's network adapters simply plug into a mains socket. You connect your network socket on your PC to Devolo's adapter, do the same with a second computer within the same building and lo and behold you have a wried network, running at 14MBps. This is fast enough for internet browsing, email, etc, but not fast enough for streaming video.
The setup of the system, according to the manual, is devastatingly simple. Plug adapter into mains socket, plug supplied cable into back of computer and into adapter. Turn on PC. Repeat with any other computers you wish to include on your network. In fairness to Devolo, it really is that simple and set up takes about five minutes.
Why, then, did it take me four hours to set my network up? The simple answer...
