A lot of families have storage problems my main pain in the backside is lack of room for excess bedding that i keep spare for guests and what not, So this is magnificent, how the air can be sucked out of the bag with any pipe vacuum cleaner and reduce the size of package to less than a quarter of the size. Brilliant for duvets and pillows i might add and to top it all off it keeps all those bugs away and when you do unpack them they smell as good as the day you washed them and put the items in there. ...i bought this for £50 second hand, and i found it very easy to use and it connected to my modem in minutes, but i know not everyone connects it as easy as i did, infact i couldnt connect it to my old router when i first got an xbox 360, so then i went for the ethernet cable method which is ideal if the router is in the same room as the xbox 360 because its much cheaper, gauranteed to work and normally makes connection better, but in my case i had a 30m ethernet cable running down my stairs which is not ideal! therefore when i bought my xbox 360 back i wanted to get it sorted with the network adapter. Speed up your network

...network switch to gigabit copying files to and from my Apple Powerbook via gigabit proved about 4 times faster than using 100mb's. Why isnt there a 10 time increase? Well unfortunately TCP/IP the system used by computers to communicate has an overhead which means actual data transfer rates are much lower then the stated maximum this is especially true for wireless networking equipment. I noted one other benefit I had been using the realtek controller built onto my Nvidia nforce 3 motherboard whilst doing the speed test I noted processor usage went up about 15% whilst doing large data transfer with the 3com card this was ly about 10% I think either the 3com drivers or card are more efficient than realteks/ Conclusion ************ Switching to gigabit has given my network a speed boost, if you regularly do data transfer between PC...

Neat Netgear 5 port gigabit switch

I would recommend this switch to anyone who has a few machines on their home or small office network, that way you can upgrade the speed critical machines on your network to gigabit speeds. I bought my two to allow me to use one with my media server and file server, and the other in my living room to connect the laptop, XBOX and so on... By having a gigabit switch, it allowed my machines with gigabit ethernet cards to network at full speed with each other, so that transferring video and large files between them was not constrained to hundred megabit speeds you find with most home and home office networks. I think the 5 port switch is pitched at the right price, and has the right number of ports for the average home user who will usually have one or two computers and a games...

You can attach a USB wireless dongle to the unit, but you are then clearly limited in the amount of data you can transfer, since wireless networks are generally slower to transfer data than wired networks. The unit and 5 hard drives cost approx £1400 last year, but with storage prices falling, and the Thecus having been on the market for a bit longer, I expect it will be cheaper, or for a similar amount of money, you should be able to get 750GB disks with the unit... The RouStor supports a number of different RAID setups - RAID 0 striping, so with my setup I would get up to 2.5TB usable space...

Was easy to connect to and set up a connection with other pc's, laptop's, etc. Great for gamers or business' that require wired link up between machines, servers or both. Felt like the data transfer was instant, so was perfect for backing up data from one machine onto another Driver's are very easy to get hold of, just download them straight from the manufacturers website. Which also has very good support, if any problems should arise. Very fast if needing updating due to new driver releases. I would highly recommend this ethenet adapter to anyone. Especially gamers or small businesses....
