...people so the prices seem to shoot up from Sunday to Thursday. We were staying Friday and Saturday nights and I booked through Expedia where it cost £68 per room per night. However, my parents came down and stayed in the same hotel on the Sunday night and it cost them over $200 for the room. We had paid for a standard king sized bed room (although we were upgraded) and my parents had two doubles in their room. CHECKING IN: My flight had been delayed from New York to Boston and Mr Tart, who was travelling up separately, got there before me. He couldn?t check in as the room was booked in my name. However, they were very nice and let him leave his luggage while he came to the airport to meet a very stressed me (7 hours in Newark airport will do that!). BOSTON IN DECEMBER

Advantages: Excellent dollar rate, laid back city
Disadvantages: Spent too much shopping and did not get to see the famous New England Fall trees!

Boston is a City that one and a half million people call home, (the 10th largest in the USA). ~O WHAT I SAW O~ My half day meeting was at Cambridge University, (one of the 60 plus Colleges or Universities). I was the Executive Producer of a Documentary Film and I was talking to show it to the Dean of the Fine Arts Department before we "color corrected it". He met me at the Airport but had to wait a long time because know one ever told me that you could not bring a movie into the United States without special papers.   In Boston They Sleep in Their Trousers

Advantages: Historic, culturally diverse and not too huge a city.
Disadvantages: Not many, unless you don't like cities, or America, or fish.

...well, the leaves are just doing their New England Fall Color thing...what a treat! Getting paid to be there...what a total delight! Look, this isn?t getting us down to the nitty-gritty of what Boston is like for a visitor, this is just shilly-shallying around to garner a few laughs (Well OK...smiles then) while you try to get your thoughts in some semblance of order. Get on with it! Fine...where to begin? AHA! The airport!!! I arrived at Logan at a respectable time of the day; feeling quite perky after a decent flight, and looking forward to a couple of weeks of well paid labour with ample time for sightseeing and socialising. Wyndham Hotel Boston

Advantages: Good location and value
Disadvantages: Some things to be improved!

...by the time we had grabbed a quick bite of lunch the room was ready. Never having stayed in a Wyndham property I was pleasantly surprised by our room which was large with two double beds, a separate seating area, international TV, coffee machine, work desk and ergonomically designed chair. There was plenty of wardrobe space and a new iron and board to blast away those creases! The bathroom was compact but featured a nice shower. The room's air conditioning worked very well too and one the 14th floor we had three windows affording great views of Boston. Overall, the room was very nice with good cleanliness standards but I personally would say that the rooms were less well kept than Marriott counterparts for example as there were just a few rough edges; but I am a very picky person! We contacted the reception when we checked out...

Boston Stump bowled me over.

Advantages: Beautiful picturesque, in middle of a lovely market town

...~~ The Boston Stump ~~ We were halfway through our holiday week and decided to take a wonder around Boston town and to visit the 14th century St Botolph's Parish Church the famous Boston Stump. The parish church was first built in 1309 making it nearly 700yrs old, the work on the tower started a century later at around 1425-1430 and was not completed until 1510-1520, so you will notice a slight difference in the architectural design. It is speculated that the name Boston Stump came about because it originally should have donned a spire, but instead it has a 'stump' appearance, but in fact where the name originated from no-one knows. This is still a working church holding regular services, weddings, funerals, christenings etc. Talking of christening, the font is spectacular and was given to the church in 1853, it is decorated...

Boston Tea Party

Advantages: 'European' sized rooms can be a bargain
Disadvantages: Easy to fall into the trap of putting expensive drinks on the bill!

...We were lucky enough to be invited to a wedding in Boston last year, which provided me with the excuse to book a holiday to the States. My other half hardly put up an excuse either as he's never visited the USA. I love using the net to find great deals on independent travel, so I customised a 10 day holiday which saw us take a hire car up the east coast and into French Canada first, and then hit Boston in time for a pre-wedding party, the big day, and a couple of days sight-seeing afterwoods. I knew things were going to go well when we got a virgin atlantic upgrade because we wouldn't have been able to sit together in economy! It's never happened before, and may never happen again, but that champagne on the upper deck tasted better than I've ever tasted in my life! All the horror stories I'd heard about hours of queues to pass...

Advantages: Very central, and well situated for visitng Boston.

...The Kings Arms, Horncastle Road, Boston has just been refurbished and is looking wonderful. We went for Sunday lunch the first weekend it reopened. As I am a Boston girl and Bateman?s being the local brew, what a fitting place to go for a pint and lunch. The outside of the pub is clean and inviting, the windows gleamed in the sunshine and with a great view across the river, The Maud Foster, of Boston Windmill. We walked in and the bar opens up in front of you with an array of hand pumps selling the Bateman?s beer. Mick the landlord is quiet imposing behind the bar, but very friendly. He also pulls a great pint. I had the best pint (well not just one) of Bateman?s Dark Mild that I have tasted in years. Well done that man. Around the walls are commemorative beer mats of Bateman?s, in frames not just stuck to the wall with blue...

...Last year for Christmas we decided to use the time off to do something a bit different. We ended up booking a holiday to the USA with two stops in New York and Boston. This review is of the hotel we stayed at in Boston, The Boston Park Plaza. ++++++++++Booking++++++++++ I booked our stay through Expedia www.expedia.co.uk and was paid upfront, I managed to get the hotel for an average rate of £50.10 per night for the three nights, on top of the room rate there is also the dreaded tax which was £7.87 per night. The hotel has it's own web site where you can make a booking and have a look at the facilities etc www.bostonparkplaza.com, although I would recommend going through a broker site as the rates will be a lot cheaper, due to them buying rooms in bulk. ++++++++++Location++++++++++ The park Plaza is located in the Back Bay...

However, SAMUEL ADAMS BOSTON LAGER, while not overwhelming, IS very tasty and much more interesting than the usual suspects (Bud, Miller etc.). This is due no doubt to the company’s commitment to pure and natural ingredients. They also use traditional brewing processes to brew Samuel Adams Boston Lager.
