A hotel in the heart of New York City

Advantages: Great Location, Clean and Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: Views from hotel itself not great, no free wi fi

...My boyfriend turned 30 a few weeks ago and for his present I booked us a trip to New York and the Wellington Hotel is where I picked for us to stay due to its central location in Manhattan. Last Wednesday we flew out to NYC and checked into the Wellington. If you didn't know already this is where part of the Borat film was made, the main scene being where he tries to unpack his things in the lift thinking its his room and so many Borat jokes ensued in the elevators during our stay. The location of the hotel is amazing, its a 1 minute walk from Carnegie Hall, 2 minutes from Central Park and 5 minutes from Times Square and is located on the corner of 55th Street and 7th Avenue. Fab priced hotel in the thick of New York City!

Advantages: Cheap, right by Times Square, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Rooms may be too small for some fussy travellers!

...When I was booking a holiday for my partner and I to go to New York, I did a lot of research about hotels, locations, sight-seeing spots etc and then tried to find the best one out of a huge list I made. I didn't want to pay a lot for the hotel because I knew we wouldn't be in it much, and when I saw the Best Western name, I thought it would be a good idea to stick with what I know! So I booked 4 nights in this hotel in December 2005, my second trip to the fantastic NYC. We easily got a transfer from the airport, and gave the driver the address which I had printed out before we left the UK. We speedily set off into the manic NYC traffic in our little yellow cab, and were there within about 1 hour, not bad considering the traffic! The hotel had a nice frontage, it was all gold, had loads of Christmas lights and little Christmas trees...

...The Edison Hotel, New York City: Built in 1931 This glorious hotel is located at 228 West 47th Street. Here I will write up a short review upon my experience in the hotel last year. Location: as previously mentioned situated in one of the most dynamic sections of New York City 228 West 47th Street, Directly in the middle of New York which means little walking distance to wherever you may want to venture. The perfect location in New York

Advantages: Brilliant location, modern, big room, huge TV, one of the cheapest hotels
Disadvantages: Breakfast is expensive, toilet blocked a couple of times, not enough lifts

..., as you only reserve the room when you book and you actually pay at the end of your stay, with the new exchange rate in March 09, this worked out to be a lot more at just over £1,000. I wasn't very happy but what can you do that's not the hotel's fault! We only had a couple of problems with the hotel which was that our toilet blocked twice and once it even overflowed which the maid had a fun job of clearing up. We didn't ask for it to be fixed as it happened late at night and by the morning it had cleared itself. Also, some of the staff were a bit miserable some of the time. Some of them were very helpful and friendly though and helped us out whenever we needed something. The concierge desk staff were also helpful in any advice we needed about the city and activities. Advantages: Fabulous shopping, bargains, great sights
Disadvantages: You will be tired and have foot pain at the end of the trip

...Ever since I was a teenager I had always wanted to go to New York City. It was probably the influence of TV shows such as Friends and Will & Grace but since then I've always wanted to see what life in the big apple was like. There's the shopping (my number one priority!), the sights, the shows, the food, the list is endless. I was nearly 25 when I finally made it over there, as part of a family trip with my mum, dad and sister. New York City's Best Kept Secret

Advantages: Small, Cheap, Quick to get around and beautiful animals

Disadvantages: None- {slight work noise from ground zero, to be expected}

...Our 10 day , 9 night stay was from the 30th of August until the 8th of September, arriving in the early hour of Saturday morning back in the UK. We flew from Manchester Airport Terminal 3 with British Airways economy class to New York JFK airport Terminal 7.The flight was just under seven and a half hours and included a hot inflight meal and also headphones to watch inflight movies of which were available. The total cost of which included insurance, flight taxes and fees , airport parking and the price for the super shuttle mini bus to take us from Jfk airport to the hotel and then the return journey back was at a cost of £2,824.27 of which was booked online through Expedia. THE CITY THAT NEVER SLEEPS

Advantages: The city is amazing and caters for young and old

...I have just come back from a fabulous 6 day break in the Big Apple, New Amsterdam, and the city so good they named it twice! Yes lve just spend a break in New York. There seems to be a theme going on here but, Santa Claus on Christmas morning in the guise of my wonderful boyfriend Paul saw fit to leave a little envelop saying we were heading to NYC over Valentines Day!
